They don't "know" but as humans we cannot observe something without visible light and electrons will change their position in the presence of visible light. It's like how you can't really check the air pressure in your tire without letting a little out and therefore affecting the results.

Yeah I was jk about them ‘knowing’ but what does mystify me is the particle they discovered that they believe started to rapidly decay as soon as they observed it. I can’t remember what it’s called, do you know? I think it was in the 90s, and some believe that because a couple of scientists observed it, the decay of it will eventually be our demise.

What’s on my mind today is how lucky we are here in Southern California to have some really fantastic and brave firefighters. The fires were within a mile of my house and we are fortunate . Praying for those that have lost everything. May god give you strength during these times. It’s not over and as of right now there are at least a dozen other fires spread out. It’s great to see all the fire departments pulling their resources to save our homes and our lives. To all the firefighters here in Los Angeles and all those here on MFP a huge THANK YOU!5
