She didn’t want to get surgery there, I can’t blame her the cost would be atrocious so they casted her up and she needs to fly hope asap and go right into surgery. Unfortunately she can’t fly out for 2 more days. I feel terrible, she’s gutted with guilt. Thankfully the resorts is making arrangements to credit them for another stay. 4 -

Then they tell everyone at work that you said that and they're smirking at you in the halls and side eyeing you in the lunchroom and when they do speak with you, their voices are noticably higher in pitch than before.1 -

I know small talk is important in social aspects. My comment was more towards small talk on the phone. I hate the long awkward pauses. I'm pretty sure that's why texting was created lol1 -

My dad had to go through a version of this, he had brain cancer and knew the end was coming pretty quick. The last time I got to see him, we had a lot of those conversations about death and everything--I was in this "leave nothing unsaid" kinda panic.
I asked him what it was like to be staring death in the face, and he just sorta shrugged and said "I can wait for it, or I can just live every day until I die. Some days are worse than others, but I might as well live while I can."
I know him; I know he was afraid (who doesn't fear the unknown?) and I'm pretty sure I would be, too. He faced it with some grace though, and his words were...practical. I've always wondered if I'd handle it as well or if I'd just fold, though.12 -

It makes me wonder if they really make peace with it or if they try to be as strong as they can to not show fear to ease the family more pain.3 -
If I knew I was going to die tomorrow, I'd hope for a nice weather day so it could be spent outside, maybe lounging on a blanket under a tree. I'd want to be surrounded by the people who love me and eat all my favorite foods and listen to my favorite songs. So it'd be like a big picnic with all my favorites. An RC-palooza, if you will.5

That is great the resort is going to credit them another stay. I've broken my ankle and have pins, plates and screws still in there.. so I know what your mum will go through.. poor thing. It is possible to have it back to near 100% , it just takes time and rehab.1 -

My buddy cooked SPAM on the exhaust manifold of his beater-Cadillac at a 26-hour paintball game once but yeah, that’s the closest I ever came to the sandwich you described2 -
