What are your thoughts on popcorn?0

is it possible to increase appetite by working out too much?0

Popcorn is delicious! It's high fiber, low calorie, and quite filling. Be mindful of the added sodium or butter though.2 -

Absolutely.
When you train, you're depleting energy storage within the body. Just make sure you aren't too extreme with the energy out portion!
Eating too little while exercising too much could lead to the body breaking down active tissue in an effort to slow you down.1 -
How do you get motivation back once your main goal has been achieved but you still have a long way to go to get to your absolute goal?
I haven't trained in almost a month oooppss1 -

You haven't lost motivation, you've simply shifted it to something else.
Look at your next goal, 6 months to a year out, and create smaller bite sized chunks to tackle.
Work backwards.
Work on 1 habit at a time till you do that habit 80% of the time, then move on to the next.
The studies on habit change are pretty clear.
Work on a habit at a time and you're 80%+ likely to succeed. Try tackling two at a time, you're down to 30% success...9 -
hey, I'm eating popcorn right now. My questions is I'm thinking to lower my rate of loosing to 1/2 lb/wk simply because this cold weather gives me an appitite & i don't want to overeat, I'm a little afraid to do it. I guess i just need to know it'l work1

Depends on your ability to deal with stress. Some people seem to do just fine dieting down in the winter. Some find themselves fighting physiology! The added cold tends to make people hungry. Add to that the stress from the holidays, family, shopping etc... Throw on a heavy caloric deficit, cardio and exercise and you may be setting yourself up for failure.
Only thing you can do is test it out.
Add in the food you need.
You could always increase your movement during the day to offset the calories.

Eat some fruit and hydrate. A hangover is dehydration of the brain.

I'll keep it as is & eat over as if it were 1/2 lb/wk sometime. I just crave something hot in the evenings, like hot oatmeal & fruit an hour before bed(180 calories) after i had my calories for the day Actually I'm not a stress eater at all & not busy on holidays, no shopping or special food. Just for the one day on thanksgiving. Before mfp, I was only eating twice a day(but large servings I guess cuz I didn't lose or gain any weight for years) & actually had to force myself to eat more often since I started this.0

So long as you get your nutrients for the day, meal frequency doesn't really matter.
I used to force-feed myself breakfast and always crashed around noon.
For the past 6 years I've been skipping breakfast and I'm definitely more productive in the morning because of it.1 -

How important is protein when you are still 80lbs overweight? I was reading something Lyle Mcdonald said and I'm a little confused. He seemed to imply that muscle waisting is minimal with someone with large body fat %. Can you explain in layman terms please?0

What are the best tips you could offer for someone that is starting out with 60+ pounds to lose and just starting out at the gym?0

Hire one of the coaches in your gym for a session or two, to teach you the basic movements. As you lose weight, your center of gravity changes and you'll want to prioritize bodyweight exercises first.
Create good static balance and improve range of motion before you add resistance to your regiment.
In the beginning, a good mix of cardio and bodyweight exercises will help get you started.
3-4 hours a week should be fine, as long as you are walking on off days.0 -

It's context driven really.
Chances are you'll maintain a good portion of lean mass as long as you are resistance training while dieting down.
Shoot for at least 1g/kg of body weight, spread out throughout the day. Protein has other uses in the body besides maintaining skeletal muscle so it's probably one of the most important macros to eat. Also you'll read about the 30g per meal "ceiling" but don't fret over it. If you have a meal that equates to 60g and one that equates to 20g, you'll be fine.

"So, dehydration probably isn’t responsible for the majority of your hangover, but it might give you a banging headache. These are an unfortunate by-product of your body attempting to restore fluid levels. Your blood vessels narrow, restricting the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain, which then tries to compensate by dilating its blood vessels, which can cause swelling. Although the brain itself can’t feel pain, the discomfort may result from pain receptors in the lining that surrounds our brain."
Lots of probably...

Thank you. So this brings me to my next question. How much resistance training? Ballpark. Right now the only thing I do is walk 2-3 miles 2-3x per week and plank for 1 min 3-4 times per week.
Thanks in advance!

Yes, plus the sentence just before the one you quote introduces electrolyte imbalance as a strawman substitute for dehydration itself, before admitting that dehydration "probably" does account at least in part for the headache.
Then after the part you quote it goes on to talk about "other symptoms" of a hangover. While I might include nausea in a hangover, once you've hit the vomiting stage, I'd call it alcohol poisoning, not a hangover.
The whole iflscience article cited by the other poster seems like a strawman argument -- I've never heard anybody who talked about dehydration as the reason for a hangover (headache) attribute it to electrolyte imbalances caused by dehydration or try to account for nausea and vomiting based on dehydration.1 -
What YT'ers do you recommend to teach fundamentals on strength training like squats, deadlifts, etc. for women?0
