@nutmegoreo My bad. It is Saturday. I have brain fog. Time for some alkalizing lemon water.
I'll forgive you, but only because I know you haven't juice cleansed in a while. You are probably full of sludge.Christine_72 wrote: »

Yes ...
I'd suggest people take an anatomy class or something similar at their local college before they spend a cent on a "cleanse".3 -

David Wolfe, is that you?

Plagiarism is not cool, dude, even if it is a woo-site.
Had to go read what it was - wow that sound horrid! Why would anyone do that to themselves?
Ugh. And it says may take at least 6 cleanses!
I'm going back to the Alli thread. At least there are some funny/scary anecdotes in there.8 -

When I had my stones my doctor never mentioned any liver flush. There was flushing involved as a result of the medication to help me pass them (sorry to be gross). If I hadn't passed them with the meds surgery would have likely been the next option.0 -

Here too! Happy Sunday.0 -
It is mindblowing, the kind of rot that people put in a book and make money from.4

In the UK you can buy milk thistle from Holland and Barrett. Its supposed to help cleanse the liver. Never used it though.0

Hey OP.
I've read up on some natural gall stone remedies myself and thought they looked interesting. (Considering trying one myself!) The ones I saw were all using common household ingredients (for all the critical responses here about "wasting your money") and risk factors were low. In my experience with natural health remedies, they are best used when you arent in serious condition (great for preventative or mild cases) so give that consideration if you are going to do it. If you end up trying it, I'd love to hear how it goes for you! Otherwise - don't let some of these negative posts discourage you. I've found that this community only likes ideas THEY come up with. And people here fancy themselves experts because they are excellent at regurgitating information that someone else told them instead of doing research with an open mind.0 -

The established and knowledgeable community here only "likes" ideas/products/methods that have been proven to be effective because of the valid scientific research behind it. It has nothing to do with who came up with the idea first, or being close-minded as you assume.
Stick around for a while and hopefully you'll figure that out, too.
May I ask that if, as you say, the 'results' are best if you aren't symptomatic - "Great for preventative or mild cases" - how do you know your gallbladder desperately needs you to put yourself through something as freaking awful as that "cleanse" in the first place? Even if it *did* work?
Or is it one of those self-punitive things that people tend to try in the mistaken belief that they are doing something wonderfully proactive for their body? And the harder it is to do, the better the results?
Bottom line to anyone reading or considering this: If you suspect something going on with your gallbladder or liver, please see or at least talk to your doctor. This is *not* the route you want to take just because you read it on the internet or saw it on Dr. Oz.27 -

Our 'negative' posts are here to help the OP not make a life threatening mistake. You are here to support something that is incredibly questionable and dangerous. What if the OP tried this cleanse and got very ill because of your ill advice?
And here you come in and assume there are no experts (with actual degrees, who've studied for years and are fantastic at their profession)....how rude, insulting and very pretentious. What someone studied for years stomps on your "what I've read". I'm sorry, but I am going to go with the true professionals on here, not some self proclaimed 'pro'.12 -

I ignored/didn't notice the symptoms of my gallbladder for years. I was having minor gallbladder attacks, but always wrote them off as food poisoning or a 24-hour virus and did not get them checked out. Until one weekend when I could not keep food down for four days. I was vomiting up bile even when there was nothing left in my stomach. I was in pain. I couldn't sleep. I could barely leave the bedroom. By then, there was no choice but to remove the gallbladder.
Do not mess around with gallstones. See your doctor is the only good advice here. Follow their instructions. Gall stones are a common thing, but that doesn't mean they're a minor thing or will always stay a minor thing.7 -

David Wolfe, is that you?

David Wolfe's middle name is "Avocado?" Seriously? LMAO.
Oh, and the picture of those 'gallstones' that were supposedly passed?
They look *exactly* like little chunks of avocado with some lemon juice sprinkled on them. Which, I suspect, is precisely what they actually are.
Guacamole, anyone?

That massive crock of erm.. kittens... appears to originally be from http://www.gillianb.com/, which (unsurprisingly) is a morass of woo and vapid nonsense3 -
I had a couple pretty painful gall bladder attacks before anyone figured out what it was through an abdominal ultrasound. I think that this was in 2004 (maybe 05?). I was treated twice with horrid ER visits and medical personnel thinking I had a heart condition. (I don't)
The Primary Doctor thought it would be best to schedule my gall bladder's removal as soon as he figured it out. Me? I'm not a rip internal organs out of the body kind of gal. I sought a second opinion out and was rewarded with the wonderful Family Doctor and Nurse Practitioner that I still have on my health team today. I also did a Liver/GB Cleanse week which removed enough to negate the need for surgery according to a follow up ultrasound 2 weeks after the cleanse. They are greenish nasty little stones. I've not had any gall bladder pain or issues since.
I like what Hippocrates said, "Let Food Be thy Medicine." You can PM me for what I did and I suggest that finding a doctor or NP who is current on health research should be a top priority for you. Healthcare professionals should work with you and not dictate to you. IMOHope you feel better soon.

Well they can clog up the bile duct, which links the gallbladder, the liver and the pancreas to the stomach. That probably qualifies as 'disrupting' the liver's performance (and it's not the only thing that's going to be disrupted...)
If this happens, you win a trip to the ER and a spot of emergency surgery, especially if the gallstone is stuck somewhere near where the pancreas merges into the bile duct. It's painful as hell and no 'flush' is going to help you survive that one. You'll probably be in too much pain (if you're still conscious that is) to actually swallow any of that woo. Then again, any sane person will head straight to the nearest doctor if with that level of pain.
All of this said: NONE of the 'remedies' and 'detoxes' peddled by snake oil merchants does anything to help prevent such a situation. All they do is part fools from their money.2 -

@ladyreva78 Yes, I knew when I left that out, someone would mention it. But I don't think that's what the poster meant. He suggests just having gallstones disrupt the lover, which is not true.
@snickerscharlie I asked the surgeon to save my gallstones, and I absolutely guarantee you they don't look like that green pea mash or avocado. Mine resembled rabbit pellets.
I love it "having gallstones disrupt the lover"--thanks for the laugh Noel.5 -

I didn't have mine saved, but my grandmother did. They were dark brownish-black, hard, and looked like rocks. There were weird protrusions on them like crystals. Nothing like the avocado petri dish picture.
They told me after an MRI for something else some years ago that my gall bladder was full of stones and at some point I'd need surgery to have it removed. That happened when I was on vacation several years ago; I woke up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain and got an ambulance ride to the hospital. They thought there was a stone blocking the bile duct but that turned out not to be true. It was 4-5 days before they could operate because I was on blood thinners and they had to get my clotting factor up.
During that period, I was on a lot of pain killers and my urine turned dark brown from the bile. I vomited bile, and the whole hospital room had a sickly sweet/bitter smell of bile.
There are three possibilities here as I see it:
The OP read something about liver flushes, has some dietary discomfort, and has become convinced he has gallstones with no medical confirmation one way or the other.
Possible outcomes:- He tries a "liver flush", the symptoms go away, and he proclaims that the "liver flush" cured him.
- The "liver flush" doesn't get rid of whatever symptoms he has so he concludes either he didn't do it right or he needs a different kind of "flush" (the quacks who sell these things love that kind of customer)
The OP has been diagnosed with gallstones, it's been recommended he get surgery, and is looking for an easier way out.
Possible outcomes:- He tries a "liver flush", the gallstones pass on their own into the small intestine, and he proclaims the "liver flush" worked.
- After the "liver flush" there's no improvement so he goes looking for a "better flush" until there's a blockage and he ends up in the emergency room.
If the OP is self diagnosing, he should be aware that the symptoms of gall bladder cancer can be similar to gallstones. Moral of the story is: don't try to diagnose or treat yourself for major illnesses -- that's why the doctors go through many years of education.8 -
