I think the bigger question is who will have the guts to weigh themselves the day after Christmas? Not me, thats for sure11

Aw..... I want Christmas dinner.. probably be nachos here....
Definitely no salads. My teeth are way too cold sensitive for salads.1 -
I am keep it it healthy by preparing Filet Mignon, lemon-white wine Shrimp, baked potato, spaghetti squash, and a mixed green salad with a balsamic vinaigrette.2

I will be having a wilted spinach salad with bacon and cranberries and slivered almonds. And I will be having ham, au gratin potatoes, brussel sprouts homemade pie and ice cream. The spinach calories will cancel out the pie and ice cream calories, right? And we are having cinnamon rolls for breakfast, think I need a veggie to cancel out those calories?
I've been on maintenance for awhile and I have figured out that not paying attention on a few holidays makes absolutely no difference and I enjoy celebrating those days. As long as it's just a day here and there. I am usually way over on sodium though so I expect a few days of water weight.
If they have raisins, you're good!4 -

No raisins (hubby hates them) but I'll sprinkle a few on top and be good to go! Thanks!1 -

Let me guess, he doesn't like them because they look like flies? I've heard that excuse before!
Good call finding a way to work them in. Have a happy healthy day tomorrow!2 -

You've got this down to an artform!2 -
No. What's the point of a feast if you're just going to eat like a rabbit? I'm not going to pig out, but I'm going to eat more than normal amounts of food that I don't normally eat.1

We're going to a friend's for Christmas dinner. I have no idea what we'll be eating, besides ham. I'll try not to go crazy, but I'm sure tomorrow will not be a diet dinner. It's only one day.0

With celiac disease I have to avoid too much of my family's holiday food as it is. No way would I not eat what I can. This year I'm finding that I'm able to eat whatever I want on the special days without going on an extended binge between Halloween and new years, and I credit learning to ditch all or nothing thinking. I can plan for days where I can enjoy sharing food with my family without guilt or feeling like I torpedoed all my weight loss effort. Sure I may gain a pound or two when holidays are stacked together at the end of the year, but I consider that a reasonable tradeoff. This way of looking at things is sustainable for me. Trying to be perfect every day without exception isn't.3

We didn't get fat, as a nation, because of Christmas Dinner.
We got fat, as a nation, because we started to eat like every day was Christmas and every dinner was a celebration. We started eating out all the time and thinking that because "it's a treat to eat out" it was okay to get appetizers and desserts and eat the entire obscene portion. We started thinking that enormous portions were normal, that sugared drinks with every meal were the birthright of all of us, that muffins were always the size of a softball, and that we all Deserved A Break Today.
Christmas dinner, like Thanksgiving, is sacrosanct to me. Humans throughout history have celebrated and bonded with friends and family and community over shared food, and I'm not going to pass on that aspect of a ritual meal just because of calories. I'm just not going to eat like that three times a week.13 -
I ate salad with my pasta and bread...and brownie with ice cream. does that count?4

Our traditional pre-church snack of sausage, cheese, crackers, garlic toast, curried shrimp, and.....salad (with once a year home-made blue cheese dressing.)1
-
Nope. Roast beef, Mac & cheese, roasted carrots, homemade rolls, a glass of wine. Then cake. And some red & green M&Ms. I will not make a pig of myself, but I can have a salad on Tuesday1
-
Lean steak, veggie rice, and salad is our menu tomorrow....oh and a huge brunch earlier in the day and stocking candy. I will go easy on the candy and brunch but I'm eating every bite of that steak.0

I had a salad tonight.
Along with ham, prime rib, scalloped potatoes and dessert. Tomorrow is turkey with all the fixin's.1 -
What?! No. My family, if I tried to pull that:
This, I would be perfectly happy with a healthy Christmas dinner but I would be the only one. I normally cook very healthy meals and my wife has been a good sport so I let her and the kids choose what they wanted for dinner and I just ate reasonably and avoided the deserts.2 -

Hihi. Our traditional dinner is on Christmas eve (good food, cookies, wine, cookies, absolutely brilliant sauces, cookies...)
Weighed myself for *kitten* and giggles: I'm 2kg heavier this morning... but it was GLORIOUS!!!!3 -
I avoid salad at the best of times. So I can't imagine eating it on Xmas day.
But if you enjoy salads why not. just don't eat it out of some type of guilt2 -
Depends - usually there is some kind of salad on the christmas dinner table and I will have some then but it will notbe the only thing and it will be part of the vegetables
Plus I'll have my salad for lunch, because I love the stuff.0 -
Turkey and veg here.
No salad. I don't eat much in the way of salad. Salad is OK, but I generally prefer individual raw veggies, not all mixed together. And I don't like salad dressing ... never have. So salad wasn't part of my Christmas dinner.
Pavlova, on the other hand, was!!0 -
I had salad as one of the dishes alright... a salad that cost me 618 calories...1

Yesterday was my big eating day vs today and yep, on the scale like usual this morning! I clocked in at 134.5lbs, which is within my maintenance window. Crisis averted for another year6 -
I'm having salad, but instead of lettuce leaves, I'm having slices of turkey, instead of raw carrots, I'm having pigs in blankets, and instead of tomatoes I'm having stuffing balls...
I will weigh myself in the New Year. If the scales will take it.4 -

I will. Because I know that however much I the scale tells me I've gained will be mostly temporary water weight from the salt, plus the weight of the food still in my system. So no biggie.
And even if, after all is said and done, I gained a lb? Sooooooo worth it.8 -
No, I don't want to end up in the er1
-
If I had Christmas alone, maybe, but I'm not.0
-
The answer to this question is a BIG NO! My family would make me eat outside with the dogs...
btw salad to me can be just as caloric as anything else I make.1 -
I was stuffing my face with cookies at 6am this morning. Gonna have some huge pancakes for breakfast. More cookies. Then some lasagna, ham, and shredded beef sandwiches for dinner. Then more cookies. No way to a salad today or any day really.3
