Until I added the last few workouts to my list, I didn't realize that I haven't had a complete rest day in 10 days. While I know that my swim/bike/walk workouts haven't been near the same intensity that running provided me, I do need to keep in mind that I'm recovering from an injury. So, tomorrow is a rest day. I also start PT tomorrow and I'm eager to be given some exercises that I can be doing at home to help strengthen muscles in order to aide recovery. I mentioned before how I wish that I would have specifically requested a PT with a background in running and I'm really hoping that this PT seems knowledgeable so I feel confident I don't need to request a switch. I'm probably (hopefully) just worrying too much.

Ugh, I had a whole post typed up with a bunch of replies but then my computer died before I could plug it in. So, as a blanket statement: great job getting out there this weekend for those of you who ran long (or short) runs and races!

@Stoshew71 Congrats on a second place finish! I'm betting that runner won't make the same wrong turn come official race day. I've only made it through a few sections of the RW book, but there are definitely a few things I'm going to keep in mind to reference when I'm actually back in the swing of marathon training. I agree, it is very thorough.

@MNLittleFinn Hopefully whatever pain you're experiencing in your left shin/calf will be gone soon. Do you have any further appointments with your PT in case it sticks around?

@kristinegift Between the march and the trail run, it sounds like you had a weekend full of awesome experiences. Trail running sounds so interesting and fun, but I'm so afraid that I'd break an ankle or have a bad fall that I probably would end up walking most of it. Maybe in the future when I'm braver.

@_nikkiwolf_ That race sounds incredibly challenging...way to go on surviving a 10k in those conditions!

@snowyne You can search the "Community" section for your posts by plugging in your username. It bring up any posts that contains your username starting with the most recent first. If you're using the mobile app, tap the magnifying glass at the top of the page. If you're on a computer, click on "Search" just above the "January 2017 Running Challenge" title at the top of this page. I also use the Ctrl + F method that @MNLittleFinn mentioned a lot too to search for my username on a specific page.

@shanaber Not sure if this was your exact sentiment, but isn't it exhilarating to run in a downpour sometimes? If it's warm and light out, that is.

    @skippygirlsmom Thanks!

    Sore glute/hamstring again!

I've got my 3 hour long run on Sunday, so of course I'm freaking out.

Can't tell if it's fine or needs imminent amputation at the hip. There is no in-between.

    Stupid brain.

@OSUbuckeye906 - That happens to me with rest days too because of doing 3 different activities. It feels like each activity helps you recover from the others so you forget you haven't taken a day off. Then you look and realize it's been weeks since you rested.

@shanaber - love the cute Running meme.

Nice 4 miles this morning in my new New Balances. Only second run for them. I'm rotating 4 pairs now (someday I aspire to be like @7lenny7 with a whole rainbow of shoes). 2 are close to retirement. Decided I'm wearing my fav Brooks Glycerin 14s at the HM - mileage is just about 100 for those, so perfect.

The weather has been great this January for the most part. No complaints! Saving that for later in the year.

1/1 - rest day (recovering from stomach virus)
    1/2 - 40 mile bike ride
    1/3 - 4 miles
    1/4 - 4.1 miles
    1/5 - rest day

    1/11 - rest day
    1/12 - 4.1
    1/13 - 4.0
    1/14 - 34 miles biking
    1/15 - 56 miles biking - hills! felt like 100 miles
    1/16 - 4 miles + strength training
    1/17 - 4 miles + neuromuscular activation (lol)
    1/18 - Strength training
    1/19 - 3.77 miles
    1/20 - strength training
    1/21 - 34 miles biking
    1/22 - 11.2 miles

@Orphia- I almost had my leg amputated due to a glute/hamstring injury, but I decided to try and work it out on its own and I'm glad I did. Yes, it was a slow process, but after two long and grueling days, I was back out there ;) Hang in there...I hope your leg feels better soon!

Chillier than it's been, but still a pretty morning for a run. My legs hip/thigh was sore from Sunday, but not enough to really hinder me. First time in months that I've run over 50 miles in the month and it was a negative split run. What a great day.

@shanaber OMG thank you for the tip on the search icon, my life just got 1,000 times easier!
@orphia Can't tell if it's fine or needs imminent amputation at the hip
this is like when I get a headache and I'm convinced I could drill a hole in my head and it will help

Jan 23 - just driving awhile then unloading the car/grocery shopping/laundry/etc
Jan 24 - HOPING TO RUN????

Goal: Run 50 miles I guess? 19.5 done.

I'm way behind on my goal but that is to be expected. We got home yesterday afternoon. It was a gorgeous 54F with blue skies. I saw several people running and tried not to be jealous. I just had too much to do getting settled back at home and ready to go straight back to work today. My husband will be off work several weeks so life isn't really getting back to normal for awhile. It's going to be 60's and windy this afternoon. Slight chance I'll get to run. Crossing fingers.

I've scanned the thread off and on but I won't try to catch up on commenting. However I hope no one has to get their leg amputated :p
