I was just wondering who still drinks diet pop even with all the studies on aspartame. I drink 2-3 cans a day and am not sure if i should quit it.

My work provides free drinks to us kitchen staff, and I constantly drink Diet Pepsi.1

Me and I have no plans to stop as the proper studies say it is safe to do so8

How much do you both drink in the run of a day.. Thanks0

The studies have shown that aspartame is perfectly safe. I started drinking diet soda when I started my weight loss phase and then proceeded to lose 50lbs and improve all my health markers -including getting a prediabetic glucose number down into the normal range.
Fast forward to now and I'm approaching 4 years of successful maintenance, have a bmi of around 21, still have great blood work panels and I still drink diet soda every day8 -
I drink 4 cans ov Vanilla Coke Zero everyday.
No guilt.
It's my last little vice. I'm down a hundred pounds and I haven't had a cigarette in a year. A little aspertame never hurt no one.15 -

I do! I average about 6 - 7 a week sort of in cycles. I'll go two or three days without any at all and then drink two or three on one day. . . or I'll go for several weeks without really wanting one and then drink two a day for a week.
I often use non-caffeinated "flavored" diet sodas (root beer, orange, black cherry, etc. . .) as an alternative to a sugary dessert; cola flavor is my go-to when I want the psychological pick-me-up of a caffeinated beverage.
All things in moderation. . . even moderation!2 -
Me! I drink 2 to 4 cans per day of Diet Pepsi. I know some choose not to drink diet soda and that is fine. But the studies I have read showing harm to lab rats... they give them absolutely ridiculous amounts of sweetener that no human would even consider consuming. I understand that plain water would be better for me but I would binge on food if I didn't have the soda. I'm not giving it up unless my doctor tells me to.3

I drink 2 cans a day because this post debunks all the studies saying aspartame is bad for us.7 -
I don't know what "diet pop" is, but I do drink diet soda.8

You mean all the studies that show it is perfectly safe?11 -
This.
I drink diet soda, but not that much now that it's winter since I'm cold. I'm drinking a lot of herbal tea sweetened with liquid Splenda to try to keep warm now in addition to plain water.6 -
Honestly, I used to believe all the horror stories about aspartame. Then I decided to believe the World Health Organization, the FDA, the European Food Safety Authority... you get the picture.
Aspartame's been studied to death. It is perfectly safe.7 -
I quit diet coke. I don't know if this is true but it seemed like I craved sweets more when I drank it1

my endocrinologist says to limit it to one or two a day. The problem is that sometimes your body can confuse artificial sweeteners with the real thing. Personally I know the more I drank diet Coke the more I craved it, just like my sweet or starchy carbs. I was drinking probably the equivalent of 1-2 liters a day and considered myself a diet Coke addict. I would get extremely agitated if someone dared to drink my last one, and go into a rage, demanding that someone better go get me some, my craving was that bad. I still love the stuff but am satisfied with one or two a day and have noticed I don't feel so bloated anymore, I guess from all those darn bubbles! Now I can drink for pleasure instead of needing a diet Coke fix. I find I really like herbal tea instead.4

I used to drink several cans of Diet Pepsi a day. My son quit, and challenged me to do the same. I did - cold turkey - and guess what? My taste buds grew back!! Who knew?1

Why quit a zero calorie drink you enjoy and especially when studies into the ingredients (including aspartame) have shown it to be perfectly safe?

I usually have a Diet Dr. Pepper from McD's once or twice a day, but it depends on my mood and how close I am to my weigh-in. Personally, I'm not concerned about the aspartame and only slightly worried about the sodium content causing me to retain water.0

Not enough sodium to cause water retention. It barely has any sodium. In fact it's the same amount as water6 -

Which studies are you referring to? Aspartame is one of the most studied compounds of the last century and has been proven safe time and again.
So yeah, I drink Diet Coke, usually 1-2 cans/day. I also drink coffee, wine, and lots of water.5 -

2 - 12 oz cans of diet A&W per day. I still drink plenty of water and get most of my caffeine from unsweetened iced tea.I don't know what "diet pop" is, but I do drink diet soda.
Once upon a time soda was called soda pop.
Some regions of the country shortened that to soda, while other regions shorten that to pop.

Diet Mountain Dew 2x week, coffee daily0

And in the Midwest, it's still soda pop.
I drink 2 a day - one for breakfast, one as an afternoon snack. Water was getting pretty boring.1 -

I'm aware, I was being facetious.
