Pip - I am so proud of how you turned your life around and humbled that you felt safe enough to share your story with us. You are truly an inspiration as to what a person can do with their life no matter where they start! <3

Barbie: Sending good thoughts for Sasha. I hope it is just a pulled muscle or something minor that can be solved with rest or medicine. You're wise to get it checked out.

Pip: Good news! Your knees are looking quite a bit better.

Last night I could not get comfortable & spent some time soaking in a warm tub of water. Today I am about as energetic as a paper-weight. I did go to yoga and ran a few errands, but overall, I have been a ball of lethargy. I am hoping for a good night's sleep.

Long day at work. My feet hurt, my shoulders hurt, my hip hurts and I want chocolate. Guess I will go to bed.

Yvonne, my sister developed MRSA when she had her mastectomies with her breast cancer. At the time of surgery, she had her implant spacers placed. She developed MRSA in one of the implants and had to have the spacer removed. But they still had to slowly inflate the one implant spacer. So over time she gradually had one boob get bigger and the other boob was gone. She had a fat enough belly that it didn't look to bad.

Norma was discharged yesterday. Her diagnosis were double pneumonia, sepsis and acute renal failure! After thinking about it all day, I decided that the confusion she had last Thursday was what saved her life. A cough and fever can be treated with a phone call and doctor calling in a prescription. But the confusion was why her husband took her to the ER. She is still running a low grade fever but is feeling much better.

Sue, your horse is a hoot!!!!! Personality plus.

Margaret, I would love to see Sully. I love those biographical movies especially about such a neat guy as he is. My husband does not share my feelings though. That kind of movie is boring, not enough action. I don't know how you can get any more action than landing a plane in the Hudson and not going IN the ocean and everyone walking off the place alive.

Becca, I love the violet. It reminded me of Mom. She loved them and could grow pretty much any flower. But when she had their last house several were sitting in her kitchen window.

Went for my follow up visit with my family doc today. My blood count has gone from 8.7 to 10.8!!!!!! My back feels good, well it was tired tonight after choir practice. My thyroid is low. I am on a thyroid replacement but it isn't low enough to go from 50mcg to 100 mcg so he said for me to take 8 pills a week. So on one day a week I will take 2 pills. Also my B/P is back up. It had been completely normal for the first time in I don't know how long. Hydralizine is the last B/P he put me on to get it down to normal. So I was really bummed out that it was back up. So I now will take it 4 times a day instead of 3. Also have a bladder infection. In order for me to be in the choir and practice with the choir on Sunday mornings, they practice in the basement and walk up 2 flights of stairs. There are 2 ladies who can't do that and just join the choir when they get into the sanctuary. I will do that for now. We live in a bi-level and the rise of our stairs and the amount of stairs is about the same as at church so I need to practice going up and down our stairs as often as I can. I will also let my physical therapist know. They have stairs in the PT room but there are only 3 steps.

Did I mention how much I love the Cadbury mini eggs and it's Easter candy season right now. Lord give me strength.

Hello my fine ladies! You know I don't really have a green thumb, but that African Violet would tell you different! I rec'd this plant in October, from my neighbor next to me. You know the one that swears like a sailor?! She was driving down to California, to obtain a better car from a relative. I was amazed she made it there and back home! So anyway, she gave me that plant. It had old blooms on it and I promptly snipped all those off. Also snipped all the leaves that looked brown. I figure that's less energy she (yep my violet is a she), has to expend keeping brown things semi alive. So after a bit I noticed that loads of new leaves were growing. Yeah me! When all these blooms fade I am thinking I might need a bigger pot right? I'm kind of a new mommy at this..

Had an OK meeting this morning. TOPS. For me it wasn't very motivating. A lot of business political stuff, and squabbling. I did weigh in and was 242 lbs. I was 243.6 last week. After the weigh in, I had brought mandarin oranges, toast with peanut butter and my coffee. It felt good to be a loser and be organized! Haha! Brought some clothes that are kind of hanging on me, to see if anyone wished them. Others had brought some too. That alone makes attending the meetings fun! We are all at different stages of weight loss so onre persons outgrowns is another ladies treasure!

Sending nothing but my best thoughts to each and every one of you!

Becca Violet I think when repotting African Violets, choosing a pot that is just slightly larger than the last one ensures continued success. Also, I seem to recall that a short squatty pot is best because of the shallow root system. My mom had phenomenal success with African Violets, and I remember most of her pots were 4 or 5 inches diameter and short/squatty varieties. She was careful about watering them sparingly, and so that the leaves and surface soil stayed dry. I really love African Violets. You obviously have the touch!

made it to the end of pg 63.

Marni - Congratulations on being down 34 lbs. That is a great accomplishment.
I miss my Mom also. So many times I have reached for the phone to share something with her.

Katla - I had a Roomba and a Scoobie. Sadly they both got ruined. "Someone" sucked up water with the Roomba and I'm not sure what happened to Scoobie. The one thing I didn't like is that they can't get into corners.

Karen in Virginia - Keeping Olivia in my prayers. Thanks for sharing the photos of the little "Miracle" baby.

Gloria in WA - My Ex? If he is trying to make amends, his isn't doing a good job of it.

Janetr - I'm glad your grandson made it back to rehab. Praying that it "sticks".

Mary - Victoria and Haylee are so pretty and precious.

Heather - The photo showed us a lovely woman in a lovely red dress.
Good news on the house. So happy for you.

Lisa - Glad to hear your husband is on the recovery road.

Pip - thanks for sharing your story. You are alwayss inspirational.

Rori - Great NSV with the pant size.

Lenora - A 5.5 lb. loss is terrific

Joyce - I am happy to hear that your sister is at home.

drkatiebug - Congratulations on your new size.

Becca - That's the attitude. How could any photo do justice to your fabulousness?

Barbie - It's great that you won a gift certificate.. You deserve to treat yourself.

    Margaret - I enjoyed "Sully"

The weekend was nice. Well, Saturday started off a bit weird. It was crazy busy because of the play day and giving away most of the free stuff. We were also giving away free pink shirts. Some people got extreme when I announced that the 100 tshirts were gone. Anti bullying day and people berating the staff because their child didn't get one. Quite a message to send to the child. Oh well, there are always a few. Most of the crowd were happy and complimentary.

My brother and DSIL came to Lethbridge. They picked DH and I up after I got off work. We went and looked at the STARS lottery home. Odd looking on the outside but laid out nicely inside. I could gladly live in that master suite with the espresso bar. We stopped for an afternoon coffee over my DS's objections. The evening ended at my DS house. We ordered chinese food for her since it was her anniversary. I fell off the No Sugar wagon because I am sure it was all the way through that food.

Sunday, I had a leisurely coffee and breakfast then went for a short walk. Frank came and picked us up and we went to the farm to look over the trailer. Our friend invited us in for coffee. Finally we got to Coalhurst to see my DOB. He took one look at Frank and commanded him to lose the gut because he had enough health problems. Mel was looking very old. Apparently they had been having problems getting the dialysis right because someone had made a math error. He also had all his boosters last week. I feel terrified of losing my brother. He is very blunt right now.

It has been busy at work with feed back sessions and surveys.
I am missing some of my friends.

No gym today have done 15 min HasFit weight training video (need to get next size dumbells) and 50 squats (day 19 of 30 day challenge)

Finished my 3 day egg fast which is HFLC lost 4 lbs and got below 126 lbs for the first time in years. I know I will probably gain a bit back so won't be upset Don't know if I could do HFLC for ever but will try to be better as carbs are my downfall. Now that I'm near to goal I will concentrate more on macros in order to maintain I think that is the hard part for a yoyo dieter like I have been

We have gale force winds and rain thanks to storm Doris but have a lunch appointment so will have to brave the elements

What is the HFLC diet? Carbs are my downfall also and I'm close to goal. Those stubborn pounds have been with me for 25 years and don't want to leave.
Congrats on your fabulous loss and being below 126! You rock it girl!

Everyone have a wonderful day. Weather predicted to be in the 60's and sunny, in February, in New England! Such a gift. I'll send it to those who are having yucky weather.

Update...just looked up hflc...high fat low carb...that's exactly what I have been doing and it's working for me. Kate did your diet have you eating a lot of eggs for 3 days? I love eggs so that may work for me.

CHRIS - High Fat Low Carb I'm no expert have just done it for a few days at a time like when I returned after holiday and this week the 3 day egg fast which I found easy to follow as it's just eggs butter and cheese. I believe it puts you into ketosis where your body burns fat instead of carbs. There are some ladies on this thread who do Keto you could ask Mary

    Hi all!
Quiet day today. Done my exercises. I will do a bit of my memoir today, but I'm having trouble getting started. I think I will use my tablet to help me get going. That was successful last time when I was on the train to London, then I just typed it onto my ×+÷=% laptop. :| My tablet is rarely far from my hands, but my old laptop is a PITA. I bought a new one last autumn, but I abandoned it after opening it up once and haven't looked at it again. It's on my To Do List, but I'm chicken.

Going to make skinnytaste.com 's Unstuffed Cabbage today. Don't like raisins with meat, so I'm going to combine apricots and prunes. Not so sweet. Will make double or triple for freezing.

    Morning ladies,
    Lanette thanks for the info
Margaret I am not diabetic and was diagnosed with carpal tunnel some years ago. I am curious for any DIY care and I should probably see the doc but I feel stupid going and saying this tiny part of my thumb is numb. Thank you.
Karen Olivia is nestled in my prayers <3
    Katie Congrats what an accomplishment!
Marnie your posts are very entertaining with creative layouts, they are like reading a magazine, hope you feel better!
    Pipyour knees look much better
Becca your meetings sound like fun, love the clothes swap.

Today is my Friday as I am taking a vacation day tomorrow to be with my kids. They go back to University on Saturday. I am working extra hard to make it to my goal for Monday of 207. Wish me luck.

Have a great day everyone. <3 Sarah, Ontario

Today I'm wrapping up loose ends at work. I'm off tomorrow for finger surgery (removal of some type of cyst). Will slow down my typing for a bit, but I peck away with just 2 fingers anyway. I'll be down to just 1 tomorrow B)

Sarah, Ontario - I'm loving the adjustable sleep number bed. It was pricey and I was worried I would have nightmares about dollar signs, but so far so good. I've averaged 82 out of 100 points for restful sleep and that was factoring in 2 nights of insomnia with all the tossing and turning until I decided to get up because I just would not be able to get back to sleep. This bed even has a snore setting- I can lift my husband's head to that setting and he sleeps right through it. I cannot confirm or deny if I have utilized that function haha ;)

Tere in RVA  -  I'm toying with idea of no more hair dye. My husband is a couple years younger than me and I don't want to look like his mother instead of his wife. I had 2+ weeks of asthma/allergy attacks when my multiple respiratory meds got put on hold - my employer forced an insurance provider change. And of course those attacks coincided with my hair appt. So I just got a trim at home rather than the professional color (to stay away from the fumes). Now I'm wondering -do I want to save the money each month?  I'm only 55 but had a few gray hair in my teens and have been fully gray for at least 8 years

Margaret- we enjoyed the movie Sully too. We don't see many movies, but that one made our list!

    Marnie- those tacos look delicious

    Have a great day everyone!

    :)<3o:)

Had a great day on Wednesday...the traffic on I-75 through Atlanta wasn't bad, the rain only drizzled, and my business transaction with my Sis was easily accomplished. We ate lunch at Shoney's and I only had salad and a piece of sauteed chicken breast. Very tired at the end of the day and so glad I won't have to drive down there any time soon. The older I get, I just hate long car trips.

Not into posting much. Tired and stressed. House sale is moving along. Bank is coming today for buyer appraisal, inspector due an Saturday. Packed some more yesterday, slow going, but going. DH is having a hard time with choosing what to store, what to sell/donate, what to toss, and what to use in RV. Going to put some money on RV today once the appraisal is done. Taking measurements in the hope that will help DH.

Queene and others thinking of ditching the hair dye..... about a year ago I stopped with the hair dye- foils. Yes, I think having some color did make me look a bit younger, but with retirement looming I couldn't justify the expense every 2 months. Plus, I also developed a very itchy scalp-likely allergy, hair (already thin) was in terrible shape from the chemicals.

So I decided to let it grow out. Went for a couple more trims at the hairdresser then took on the task myself - my hair is naturally curly so if I "chopped" at it a bit, who could tell. It's now all grown out to a couple inches below my ears which is perfect and a style I never had before (I also put it in rollers, first time in my life which stops the frizzies and gives it bounce - I wash it twice a week.)

I use coconut oil as a pre-wash conditioner, massage a dab into scalp and comb a bit thru the strands - I don't pack it on and it comes out with one shampoo but has really given my hair the body the color used to give it.

During this time, I also started noticing gals whose hair looked 20 years younger than their face, lol. I didn't want that to be me. So it was a mental adjustment too, but "going platinum" at least in my mind is working OK.

Sorry for the epistle. Happy Thursday to everyone!

Sarah in Ontario - good luck with that thumb.

If I had a grand-daughter in college right now I'd advise her to hang out in the science building and target a pre-med student for husband material, lol. A ton of orthopedic docs are going to be needed to treat all the "text thumbs" or whatever they call it on kids (and adults) who use their hand-held devices a lot.

Or better yet, I'd tell HER to get her MD and focus on hand/wrist surgery and forget the MRS degree for a while.

Main thing is to have a nice condo somewhere warm for Grandparents to park in the winter.

The Unstuffed Cabbage Bowls has come out well. It makes a LOT because of all the cabbage. Enough for some tonight and some to freeze. I used the white cabbage so it has retained texture. :D I might drizzle some chilli sauce on mine and some low fat creme fraiche. <3
Any newbies, do check out the skinnytaste.com Web site.

Morning all... worked out, burned 585 calories with 27 minutes on the elliptical, 25 minutes running... once I get cooled down, I'll shower, then up to the Civic Center to decorate the table for the Chamber Banquet tonight. Quiet afternoon, then an evening of socializing--which is exhausting, usually, but we'll see.

Weight stinks, calorie levels stink, but am honing in the working out. If I could outrun a bad diet, I'd be happy! Just trying to make good choices. Last night was a baked potato for dinner with light sour cream and Smart Balance spread, pretty darn yummy.

Hubby's doing well, just itching to get his stitches out and get on the road with PT. Six more days in a soft cast, then he can start doing the work to get better. He had one really, really low day, but is back to his sunny self. Thank goodness.

Love y'all... think about you more than you know,

Barbie: I'm happy to hear that you're walking with both dogs again. I assume that Brandi is doing better.

Lanette: I have just let my hair go natural all along. In my thirties it got darker and darker, then in my forties it started to have silver threads. Now it is mostly a color I'll call light, similar to what I see in your photo. My mom was also a natural blonde & her hair gradually lightened, too, but never got all the way to white. I have an appointment to get mine trimmed later today.

Heather: Keeping my fingers crossed that the buyers for your home just keep getting more and more excited to move there.

I have an appointment for a haircut this afternoon and can hardly wait for it. My hair has turned into a haystack. It needs to be trimmed and tamed. I'm thinking about going up to he stable to lunge Arrow, & waiting for a suitable time to call and see whether this is a good day. I don't want to ride today, just to work him on the lunge line. I am being extra cautious because I'm still the only driver and can't afford to get hurt until DH can also be a driver again. I hope I'm not fooling with myself about courage, and I actually have enough to work with Arrow on my own when I am no longer the only driver.
