EEEEK! Two people were laid off from my team, today... I just inherited a bunch of work...
The good news is, I wasn't laid off. The bad news is - I have a LOT less time for hanging out with you guys...
Oh - and I, also, have a new low today - didn't get the 207 I was hoping for - but, I will take 208. I haven't weighed this little since I was a sophomore in college - and that's been a minute, y'all.
I will be reading, when I can - and I will check in as often as possible.
Hugs for Everybody!

I DID attack my biggest stressor yesterday... the deskwork... my DF90's paperwork, bills, it's not that big of a deal... but one of those things with tentacles. I have a list of things to do, phone calls to make. So...Go Me!
DH wants to get away to the lake house this weekend. Something he hasn't wanted to do for 2 years. (Yay! For getting my husband back!) I'll welcome the change of scenery and a nice visit with my older brother and sis-in-law who live on the lake. DM90 and I will finish the mosaic tabletop we!re making for my brother. It's almost finished.
Onward...

Yvonne in Tx - thanks for that tip for eyeglasses. I see my doc tomorrow. I'll ask him about making me some read-in-bed glasses.
Karen - baby Olivia is beautiful. So happy she's improving.

Hello ladies: I have been to the YM this morning and taken care of horses. I was doing a little gardening when the sun disappeared and then it began to hail. Nothing big but lots of pea-sized stuff. I hung out in the barn for a while and then it turned to snow. we had a short sunbreak and now it is cloudy again. How crazy is that? I have choir tonight so hope it settles down before then.
Katla - The Arabian has a big pasture ball and refuses to play with it. She also has a horse toy that hangs in the shelter that she won't touch. She likes things to make noise like when she pulled the gutter off the barn and it would spring back. We also had a feeder that had a lid that she would lift up and let fall so it would make noise. We are currently looking for a squeaky rubber chicken as we saw a video of a horse playing with one of those. So far in our search we have not found one with a squeaker. Maybe we will find something at the horse fair in Oregon next month.
Tere - I think a sexy, fit grandma with white dreds would be awesome. You go girl!
Re - Glad you still have a job and congratz on the new weight!
welcome to all the newbies.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening My Dear Friends,
Kate, I love those leggings. They had a segment on Good Morning America this morning about leggings and the tests they had done on different ones and which were the best. They only showed solid black ones.
SharonT, welcome. How many calories do you eat each day? Are you logging everything? Stay with it and the weight will come off. Come here often.
KarenVA, wonderful news on Olivia. I hope she keeps improving at a rapid pace.
Tere, good to hear from you. You’ll have to share a picture of your hair when it grows out. Trust me, it is so much easier to let it go gray!
Lanette, I’d like the recipe of your muffins. I eat bran muffins every morning and use oatmeal in place of some of the oat bran. I put cinnamon and ground cloves in them.
Joyce, glad your sister is home.
Beth, we know you (and we) know what to do to get back to healthy eating. Now just do it. I’ll give ya a little shove in the right direction. I know we all feel better when we eat right and exercise so I don’t know why it seems so hard sometimes. Good luck on the bathroom project!
Kay, a huge congrats on that new low number on the scale. Maybe this is the year for those of us that have been in one spot for a long time. Mine is finally moving in the right direction too.
Katla, glad you had a good time with your friends. You need to make an effort to not have your get-togethers so far apart.
Becca, I think that is a great picture of you. What is that man talking about???? LOL
CarolGA, I hope you had a safe drive. I know I 75 can get a bit crowded at any time and the rain just makes drivers crazy.
KarenVA, it is amazing what Olivia has overcome. I do believe in the power of prayer and I know she got a lot from us. I hope she keeps improving and can’t wait for more pictures.
Lanette, your post reminded me of my favorite thing in the world which is cinnamon rolls. Now that I don’t eat them, do you know how many time a week I see cinnamon rolls on the TV!!!! OMG. At least I normally fast forward through commercials.
Cheri, a huge congrats on your weight. *Doing happy dance for you*
Yvonne, I’m glad your dad got to go see his brother.
Kelly, your pizza sounds yummy. I might have to try it.

I know I told you that I bought a dress for a ceremony at the Moose convention. I also got some shoes to match and paid more for them that I wanted to. Then Monday night I found out that I need white shoes as we will be wearing white gowns (but I don’t think the caps) and I don’t own white shoes other than sandals and tunnies. Today I went on a search and at the 4th or 5th place I found a pair for $10. Woo hoo. I’ll return the navy blue shoes. While looking to make sure I didn’t own any white shoes, I found a nice pair of navy shoes with a short heel that will go nicely with the dress if I wear it on another occasion. My eyes have been itching sooooo much that I can hardly stand it. I take an antihistamine every day plus antihistamine eye drops. Today I bought a Neti Pot and will see if that helps. Can’t hurt.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Sarah with the numb thumb-- I ended up with surgery for de Quervain's tenosynovitis. It's like carpal tunnel of the thumb. As I recall the whole thumb was numb tho and wrist painful and I couldn't lift a coffee cup it hurt so badly.
I used to be a handspinner....many years of drafting wool with repetitive motion did me in.
Surgery wasn't bad and helped it immensely.
Not sure if that's what's ailing you but might give you some information.
Good luck!

I'm back from the Ortho doc. Good news is that there's nothing structurally wrong with my knee. For some reasons the tendon/nerve going over the kneecap is inflamed, has been for a while, and likes to shoot pain around the kneecap.
He prescribed Voltaren 1% -- said it might help, but said to check the price first as it's pretty spendy. He said other than that, take care to put a pad down every time I need to kneel/put weight on it like when gardening and exercising. I already do as much as I can. Sigh.
DH had some samples of Voltaren in his "pill drawer" his rheumatologist gave him several years ago so I'll try it.
Doc and I both agreed the good news is that he won't have to get in there and fix anything! Which was my worry - that I'd bugger it up by walking and running a bit.
I applied Voltaren a while ago and have enough of the samples to take me a couple weeks. So we'll see how she does. I might just have to buy stock in "Ben Gay" lol.

Sarah are you diabetic? Diabetes can cause numbness in hands and feet. Have you talked to doctor about it? It could be carpal tunnel too?
DH and I watched the movie Sully last night. DH worked for an aerospace company and my dad was a pilot so, we really enjoyed it. The fact he was able to do a water landing in a plane that was not made to land on water was a miracle in of itself. My dad was a pilot in Alaska. He flew planes that were designed to land on water and some of those planes crashed when landing on water.

Annr: I love the African violet.
Peach: Good luck on your trip south. I hope you get things organized so you don't have to make the trip again anytime soon. (((HUGS)))
Karen in Virginia: Good news for little Olivia and the whole family. I hope things keep improving every day.
Cheri: Congratulations on a new lower weight for a wonderful personal victory!!!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Re: Congratulations on the loss! WTG!!!
Sue in WA: I hope you enjoy the Oregon Horse Fair. I also hope you have good weather for your travels. I've been so busy with DH's eye situation that I didn't even realize there was going to be a horse fair. I'd love to hear all about it.
I had an awful time getting to sleep last night and ended up having a long soak in the tub. Afterward I was finally able to sleep. I am dragging today, though. Sleeping and reading are the only activities I want to consider at this point.

Sue in WA What is the name of your rebel Arabian? My hero.
Lanette Your muffin is a version, I believe, of MIM (muffin in a minute), an Atkin's low carb recipe. I really like your version with the 3 different "flours". Thanks for sharing it! The variations are limited only by one's imagination. Berries, PB2, nuts, flavored extracts, spices, cheeses, seeds, coconut, vegetables, bacon...yum!
Becca I second what Katla said about your African violet. Lovely! Like you!
RE EEEEK! is right...too bad you are so capable.
I spoke too soon about Olivia and dialysis. Kidney functions have worsened, might have dialysis tomorrow, will keep you posted. Otherwise she is doing so well.

I won a $25.00 gift certificate to a nearby tiny shop where they serve sandwiches and homemade soup and locally made ice cream. I took Jake to lunch there today. He had soup and we took home half of our sandwiches and had ice cream for dessert. I had espresso chip in a waffle cone---a treat I haven't had in years.
Sasha's back leg shakes a lot for no apparent reason. The vet did a blood test and found nothing wrong so Friday she goes in to be sedated to get an x-ray on her spine and parts of her legs. I am working hard at staying in the moment and not writing a scary story about the outcome of this.
Hugs to Olivia
Re, congrats on your new weight and on not getting laid off. I used to work at a job where they kept eliminating positions and adding more to my workload. I had to practice being grateful every day that I had a job.
A lot of dancing, dog walking, and riding the exercise bike and not much time for MFP.

I went to the orthoedic doc today as well. I got a steroid shot in my left knee and an appointment for one in my right knee for two weeks. He said he did not want me stopping what I've been doing because ultimately it will make me stronger. Take that all my friends who keep telling me I need to "take it easy." I knew I was right about that. Mine is all arthritis, no injury. So I guess that is good news.
NSV of major proportions today. I did 7 pull-ups on the assisted pull up machine by myself. I haven't been able to do any before without help. I was also able to do 4 of that horrible, horrible machine where you place your arms on pads parallel to the floor, hold on tight and crunch your legs up. No idea what it is called, but last time I tried it I could do zero. So my upper body is definitely getting stronger.

Good evening Ladies.
Not much going on in my life which is rather good. Allows me to stick to my program. Down .8 this morning for a total of 6.2 in 6-1/2 weeks. That's pretty fast for me, I usually lose 3/4 lb./week. I love playing with numbers and began noting on the calendar the "what you would weigh in 5 weeks" that pops up when you complete logging for the day. I always thought the number was so far fetched, but today I was .4 higher than the prediction 5 weeks ago.
Almost 60 degrees here in MA and it was a delight!
It seems a lot of you with struggles are doing better which gladdens me. Hugs to those still struggling.
Have a wonderful evening.

Becca – Beautiful violet. I once had very good luck with them; but, for the past couple of years, they just ‘up and die on me’. I only water them once a week because I had been told they don’t like their ‘feet’ wet; but, then they dry out way too much. Until I get my porch ready to use, still have not gotten that door (that might change this weekend); I’ll probably have a space I can put them out, in there. Filtered light.
Sarah (and others) – Our 10-year-old DYGD told her parents that she ‘did NOT want to be home schooled’. Yeah, Emilee!
Karen – I guess that I will always talk to both my parents just before going to sleep. I think it is funny that your parrot pick up her laugh when she visited. Thanks, I am so pumped that I will do everything I have been doing these last 2 weeks. Just have to check my printouts.
I know y’all are enjoying your time with your family and Olivia.
God has a purpose for that little girl and her family.
Re – Sorry for the workload, we’ll miss you; but come as often as you can.
Sarah – I think Michele in NC (now in FL) and someone else here have talked about ‘trigger finger’. I am not sure what it means but, I do sort of remember them saying their thumb was numb. Maybe one of them can answer your question.
DJ – When you use the Neti Pot … don’t be tempted to ‘suck in’ … it will not be pleasant. Just tilt you head over the sink (I used my tub) and let it ‘run’ in one side and out the other. It might take a couple of times to do it; but, it does work. Speaking from experience about ‘not sucking up’.
Lanette – I had some Voltaren 1% but I am not so sure it worked; but, at least it did not ‘smell to high Heaven and back’.
Margaret – “Sully” is a movie I want to watch; like I said earlier; I like movies that are made based on a ‘true story’.
My boss was a pilot and when he landed he always set it down as soon as he could on the landing strip. One Christmas he took his partner and wife; and, my boss, his wife and son and flew them into one of the island in the Bahamas where he had a home. At the end of the landing strip was a stand of trees; and, when he did not set it down, his partner looked over and said something to him. He had lost control of one of the engines and was trying to stay up and fly around. The person in the tower kept telling him, ‘put it in the sea, mon, put it in the sea’. It pissed him off and he said, ‘let me try to “fly” the damn thing first. My boss had handed out life jackets and his son was listening to his Walkman and didn’t know what was going on when he handed it to him. They got up and made a round and then landed safely. When his partner’s wife got ‘out of it’ she knelt down and ‘kissed the grown’ and said she wasn’t going anywhere in the ‘damn thing’ again. They had to fly a mechanic to come fix it from the States. I could remember flying into Bimini in what had to be a ‘reject from the graveyard of old prop engine planes used for spraying fields’. The pilot would put his arm out the window and bump the top of the wing. When we were landing you could see a lot of planes that had ‘been put in the sea, mon’. We flew back on a sea plane with ‘real’ pilots and they said, ‘well one thing you won’t have to worry about, too much, is finding a landing strip … got one all the way back to Miami. Next time we flew over in a sea plane and back.
Pip – Your knees look like they have been drilled like when they have to be in a ‘halo’ so the leg can be set during a really bad accident.
Sometimes when I am not able to go to sleep it is because my brain is on ‘overdrive’. I can lay down and close my eyes and see my hands typing out my ‘thoughts’. That is getting seriously freaky.
Just watched “Hacksaw Ridge” … really good if you don’t mind all the guts and gore. I like movies that are based on true events. I would have been digging a hole and staying in it until all the Japanese soldiers (maybe more like warriors) got killed or left. That was one brave soul!
Welcome to all the “Newbies” … come often, tell us about yourselves.

Re: Sorry to hear about the layoffs and workload we'll be here when you have an opportunity. Congrats on the 208!!!!
DJ: Maybe the itchy eyes are related to dry eye - it is one of the symptoms... have you tried moisturizing eye drops/artificial tears?
Lanette: The least expensive place to buy topical Voltaren in Canada is Costco...maybe the US has good prices on it too? I've also gotten a prescription for diclofenac cream from my doc which is a slightly stronger version of voltaren - that might work if you have prescription coverage.

Re in TX4 -
Pip - your knees are definitely improving but man, they still look sore. Are you putting Vitamin E or anything on them? And I LOVE those sleeping pupster photos you keep posting. When I see them, I think my BP goes down at least ten points.
Marni, that's great about your One-drop! I've temporarily given up on the recliner search - my BFF got some from Costco I want to try out. I'm actually checking local estate auctions right now to see if someone has a gently used on made about 15-20 years ago. I think they were made better then (weren’t most things???)
Barbie - sending extra pats and hugs to Sasha. Hoping it’ll be all better with a bit of R&R. Always a bit worrisome when they start acting a little differently, but often it’s just a “thing”.
Carey, thanks for the info about Voltaren -Costco price. I emailed our regular doc’s office – they can often get prescription drugs at a very big discount so will see what their price would be. Be interesting to see if the samples do any good. I’m guessing it will take a week or more to get results?
Chris in MA – I loved to do projections on the calendar too, even had a spreadsheet going. It was always fun to see when I was beating it! 6.2 lbs in 6 weeks is fantastic! Please send some of your weather to the other coast – we’re back in the mixed rain/snow pattern in WA. Just took the dog out and that rain is part ice.
DrKatieBug, good job on that machine! What a great feeling and know you’re getting stronger. Sounds like you are in good hands with your ortho doc. And by the way, I forgot to tell you how cute those snazzy leggings were you posted a pic of a while back!
Becca, that violet is awesome. Gives me spring fever. I also am one who has no luck with them. Our newest kitty eats all houseplants, or tries to, so I have given up for now. An elderly friend of ours had such a green thumb, she had dozens of violets all over her house and they were always happy and blooming. She passed several years ago but I wish I’d have gotten some tips from her. Your FB photo is adorable – my DH makes “interesting” compliments as well. I just presume he means well and change the subject, lol.
RE – Congrats on your new low! Absolutely fantastic! Sorry to hear about the layoffs… always makes people a little nervous unless they knew they were coming (business down, budget tight, etc.) They know you are superwoman and can do the work of three people, right? “If you want something done, give it to a busy person.” That would be you! Will miss your newsy posts, but once you get in stride I’m sure you’ll have a little more time for us ;-). Hope you are able to continue with your PT and exercising. Oh, and were you able to wangle a bit of a raise??
Karen, sorry to hear Olivia had a little set-back. Crossing fingers that’s just part of the healing process that’s easily remedied.
Yvonne, glad your Dad is able to go see your Uncle. It will do them both good to reconnect, I think, even for a short while. There’s some peace in that. And I’ll bet your cold impacted your weight gain – yes, weight fluctuates and sometimes very unpredictably -- at least in my world.
Kelly and all, that cauliflower pizza crust sounds great and thanks for the recipe. I’ve put cauliflower on my shopping list. Not sure I can tempt DH, but I will plan to cut the recipe down a bit and make a small one for starters. Sounds like that would be the perfect low-carb snack.
Lenora, enjoyed your story about the pilots and landing strips. “Put it in the sea, Mon”…. I think NOT! Anxious to watch the Sully movie!
OK, time to close. Waving HI to the newbies and those of you I missed this go-around.
