What is the daftest weight related thing someone has ever said to you?

Them: I'd like to lose some weight. How'd you do it?
Me: The way to do it is to eat fewer calories than you burn. Eat less, move more.
Them: You're right, you're right. I know you're right.
To me that's the worst. Wanting to change, knowing how to change, but not even trying to change.
I've stopped saying that because .. that blank stare you get back. I cant deal with it anymore. I just smile and say I workout. That usually stops the conversation.10 -
Some things that are stated on here pretty regularly:
1. You're not supposed to be hungry
2. You need to eat all your calories (even if you are not hungry)
If you're on here to lose weight, not ever being hungry and eating when you don't need to are sort of the roots of the problem, I'd suggest? (Do some people actually never experience hunger?)7 -
There's even a supposedly better BMI site that tells me I'm a good weight and that I'm lucky that I don't have work at it.1 -
That I was too fat for intimate relations at this weight, from my then-husband.
Takes the cake over every idiotic nutrition-related thing I've read and did far more damage to my head at 22 than any wrong factual information.

Just when I thought the milk-calf argument couldn't get any sillier.
I have no words!!3 -

I like a good pun.5 -

IMHO this is not a myth. Is the naked truth.
The intent of what is being said is true, but it is technically not correct. The reality is that the balance of calories in and calories out is what makes the difference. We can't pick one above the other.4 -
"You are welcome to do any ab exercise you want, but don't do push-ups, I want you to keep your boobs."7

That one is true, at least for me.
Yes, me also. My boobs are tiny now but I'm really pleased about it as a) they suit my evolving body and b) it's easier to find bras that fit.
My husband on the other hand is a little disappointed . . . but he'll get over it

Thread over. This one wins. @tomteboda , you are/were beautiful. I'm glad this jerk is an ex and I hope you are now with someone who gives you the respect and kindness you deserve.29 -
I'll start.
So I had a nutritionist tell me one time when I was between meals that I couldn't possibly feel hungry at that moment (I commented that I felt hungry) because it was impossible for someone of my weight to feel hunger pains. Really don't believe that - as I haven't been overweight my whole life, so I know what hunger is.
I think someone is a nut job any time they tell me my body is wrong and they are right about something.
I'm a huge advocate for listening to your body.8 -
Had a co-worker tell me that if she ate a lot of "bad calories" like poutine, burger, chips, then right after she'd eat even more "good calories" like avocado, peanut butter, kale, quinoa, sweet potatoes and thought the good calories would minus out the bad and she'd lose weight.14

People would rather hear the story about the magical unicorn you met on a walk in the woods that gave you magical beans that instantly transformed you into a super-hero body.17 -

I know others have already said it- but I think it's worth saying again. You were/are gorgeous, and that guy was an idiot. Doesn't sound like he deserved to have intimate relations with you, if you ask me.
I'm glad you're not in that relationship anymore, too. You deserve much better than that.25 -
My sister told me weight loss wasnt calories in/calories out but about protien... i get you need protien to be full but just lettuce and protien? Common! i told her so millions of people on mfp are all wrong? Lol.. was trying to help one of her over weight friends.3

That all you have to do to loose weight is eat "healthy".3

Stop taking all that medication, weight gain is a side effect! 1- I'll leave medication facts to the doctor thanks. 2- I was fat before I was given the stuff. 3- It is ANTI EPILEPSY medication. I am not stopping! 4- The other side effects include hyperactivity so doing loads at the gym is easier as I don't get tired so fast 5- Another side effect is rage. I suggest you back off.46

That vegans/vegetarians are healthier people solely because they don't eat meat.3

LOL! I've told my husband that my goal is to have "sport boobs." So he should start getting used to the idea.

"Sticky foods will make you fat, cause they stick to your insides." said by my adult niece. When I questioned the logic, she told me that her mother told her this and therefore it was correct. I replied, "Your mother is an idiot!"13

Ha! I have "sport boobs," too. Luckily, my hubby is more interested in the rear view.6 -

i guess that kind of makes sense, in a 'you can't outrun your fork' kind of thing. Diet is the most important factor in weight loss, not exercise. Exercise helps with strength and endurance, but the vast majority of people can simply lower their caloric intake and do just fine losing weight.5
