Congratulations to you, too, on your excellent first Half Marathon. Did they ever get the official times straightened out?

Yes, fortunately got it sorted last night and I came in at 1:51:00 which totally shocked me. I had forgotten that as well as forgetting to stop it straight away I had started my phone well before the timer mats at the start so when my phone said 1:53:08, I was expecting a low 1:52. Now just waiting to see the photos.

@dkabambe That extra 90 seconds or so on each end of the race will mess with you, every time. Throws off the data for the entire first mile, and skews the last split, too - but at least when you look at that one, you recognize that it's more than the 0.1, and "oh, yeah, I didn't hit the button right away because I was accepting a medal and being handed a water, and I'm not a juggler..."

Congratulations to everyone who ran races over the weekend!

@autumnblade75 Is that Bolingbrook, IL? If so, I'm not too far from there. I may consider that HM for next year.

    Hi all!

    Aim: 120k

3/2: 1.5k -warmup for strenght training-
    3/3: 11.6k -5.49 min/km-
3/4: 4.4k -wu and cd for strength training-
3/5: 10.7k -Perfect trail, a little bit tired at the end-
    3/8: 6.5k -easy incline-
    3/9: 8k -treadmill, intervals-
3/11: 6k -last shake out before race-
    3/12: 13k -Trail Race-
3/14: 5k -cool down from race and from strength training-
    3/15: 4k -cool down-
3/16: 6.2k -empty stomach early morning run-
    3/20: 1.3k -walk/run at gym-

Well, nothig went good. After my morning 6.2k morning run I went for baskeball the same afternoon and guess what, my quad went bananas. It seems that running and basketball combination is bad idea, or my legs were/is extreme loaded. So, after 3 days of rest I test them today and still in pain. Patience, patience and again patience.
Oh and ofc I lost my race during 3/19...

    SUM: 78.2/120k

    Races:
    4/2: Alexander the Great 10k

@RespectTheKitty Yes, that's Bolingbrook, IL. It was a nice course. That one hill at around 11 miles was uncalled for, but otherwise, very nice. There was a steeper hill at around mile 6, but that one was Downhill, so I enjoyed it.

I'd ask if you were likely to be at the Shamrock Shuffle, but I'm pretty sure you mentioned that you really don't like crowds. I'm usually not a fan of big mobs of people, either, but I make an exception for that race.

@_nikkiwolf_ I support your shoe-buying plan. I am considering a similar strategy with my favorite Merrell Bare Access Arc 3's. There are still a few vendors that have a few orphan pairs, and I keep eyeing my bank balance vs. their price and wondering if I could get away with that many shoe boxes in the mail box...

I did a quick scan through of what I missed. A lot of great stuff by you guys that I couldn't read in detail due to time.

I saw a lot of pictures and people in races over the weekend. Awesome job guys.
I saw a question about percentage of long run vs weekly mileage...
25% is conservative while 35% would be aggressive.

Welcome to some new people joining us.

@Elise4270 I have to write your son. Love the picture of you 2 together.

About the Hillbilly Half. I know someone in my running group that ran that twice now. It's a little over an hour north of me. Franklin, TN is just south of Nashville.

Group workout tonight was hill repeats. 15 minutes of running up the hill - alternately 1/2 way up and return easy and then full way up and return easy. My Garmin is screwing up and didn't catch on to GPS plus a few times seemed to glitch so I didn't get full credit. Plus it lost my steps for the day. Grrrr. Hopefully it is back on track now after some restarting (it just now yelled at me to move so it seems to be chugging along).

@autumnblade75 Great race! Congratulations on the new PR, that's quite a lot of time you've gotten faster. Too bad that the glass came without beer... I think you buy yourself a pair of Merrell Bare Access to celebrate your awesome race

I joke that it was the most expensive pint glass I'll ever buy. But it came with 2 hours of entertainment, and a shirt. The hubby and I are getting a little tense about some perceived income inequality issues, so right now wouldn't be the best time to drop cash on another pair of shoes. Maybe after we get back from the Alaska vacation - planned entirely around a marathon I wanted to run...

If I don't use all my "spending money" I can justify throwing anything that's left at more shoes.

@_nikkiwolf_ Thank you for your wishes. It is common situation the last 3 months. I feel like I am always on rehab, interrupted by 1-2 painless runs per month :(

By the way does anyone run who has Raynaud's?

I sometimes feel the circulation go in my right foot while I'm running. I worry about damaging something, but I want to keep going! I know my shoes aren't too tight and was told some years ago by the doctor that I had Raynaud's. I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions or experience please?

    Thanks!

@hannahbananna80 Not myself, but I remember discussions about it in this group in the past; and my sister has Raynauds. But for her it's only a problem with the hands, that seems more common that a problem with one foot.
Warming up well before you go outside could help. There's creams with capsicum that can increase blood flow. Maybe compression socks?
But if it's just one foot (not the other, not the hands) I would also make sure that the toe box is wide enough, and try different lacing techniques.

    3/7 7.1r + 3.5w
    3/8 0.0r + 3.25w
    3/9 5.3r + 1.25w + 1000m row
    3/10 0.0r + 5.8w

    3/19 4.0r + 0.0w (still sick)
    3/20 6.2r + 2.7w

    Total so far: 93.6r + 65.45w = 159.05 miles

My back still hurts, though not excruciatingly. It's more of just a mild discomfort. I was able to run just fine last night and I can move around okay today, just a little discomfort when I bend over.

Also, my anxiety has been through the roof the last few days. I think it may have to do with the increased dosage of my medication, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm just really shaky and jittery, and find myself worrying about every little thing. I did feel better when I was running last night, so at least I got a little respite. I'm going to see my therapist tonight, so that's a good thing.

After a few snowstorms and dancing weekends, I am quite behind on my training. Only up to 27 miles this month so far. I missed a few strength training sessions too (gym was closed due to weather a few days last week).

Non-running check-in. Sick sick sick and behind in my running and not happy about it. Hoping to be back at it in the next few days. Lot of great runs and races over the past few days! Congrats to all!
