My food budget is also very tight, £3 per day which works out at less than $5. If you add me as a friend I'd be happy to help you figure out how to get the ball rolling and start losing weight on a tight budget.3

If it were me and I had to build a pantry on $5/day, I would start real cheap for a few days to build up some money to buy basic staples. Prices vary locally, but here I could buy eggs, some cheap non-stick spray, and a bag of frozen veg for $3. That would feed me a couple of days and I could have $12 built up for my next trip. A loaf of bread, some kind of meat (whatever is on sale), some seasonings and now you can go a couple more days and save up a little more. Each time you'll end up adding staples like cooking oil, spices, bread, oats, rice, potatoes, etc to your pantry that can help stretch meals. Once you get those in place, you can do less saving and just buy the perishables you need.
I posted in your other thread and I hate to post here given how you've blasted others in both, but I'll mention Aldi again if you have one. If not, find out what kind of discount grocery stores you have. Dollar Tree sells a lot of staples for the early stockup stage. Also see if your grocery store has an app or a loyalty card to be sure you're getting the best prices.11 -
Stop having a pity party it doesn't do you any good. Go to the goals section in mfp fill it in and stick to what it tells you.As you are on a 72hr hospital prescribed liquid diet save the $15 dollars you usually use for food and go grocery shopping with it buying staples such as people have probably already have suggested. Look up some recipes you would like to try and start. Not starting and just feeling sorry for yourself will only mean you stay overweight. What have you got to lose by giving it 100%? Just pounds.6

Ok - I'm not trying to be rude OP, but you have 4 threads going at once. It seems like you are getting tons of great advice in all of them, but you continue to make excuses.
You can't get to a gym.
You don't have money for "healthy" food.
A gym is not required to lose weight. Period.
You can make better choices on a budget. I do it every single week.
Do I always eat exactly what I want? No. I buy what is on sale and try to stock up on staples (rice, beans) when I have extra money.
I also shop at local farmers markets for produce, it's generally cheaper than the chain grocery stores.
I make large casseroles or stews and individually package them for lunches at work. I have not gone out to lunch in a month.
I have eggs for breakfast every single morning. They are .89/dozen where I live.
At this point, I feel like you are trolling. Either way, I wish you the best.

For $30 per week could buy lunch meat, cheese, low calorie/ carb bread Or there are grocery stores that have a "Pick 5" meaning for $19.99 you can pick 5 different meats and with the remaining money you can buy can goods or even frozen veggies for the week. There are other options. Good luck to you.1

Might not be the healthiest, but you either want this and are ready for it, or you don't and you're not. It's all about choices. We were all not ready at one point in time. Maybe you're just not there yet.
I've been fat my whole life and I don't want to be... how am I not ready
You aren't willing to put in the effort to do it. You're making excuses such as not being able to afford to eat less food. If you are married to the idea of the dollar menu, go once a day instead of twice. Or simply order fewer $1 items each time you go.
Yeah because my $5 a day I have to spend is obviously going to get me A TON at the grocery store
I'd be happy to help you create a grocery list that fits a $5 a day budget. I am 100% positive many MFP folk here would too. So if you feel up to the challenge of grocery shopping, and cooking for yourself to be able to lose weight, just let us know. If not, I don't understand the reason for your post.

english muffins (6 pack) are $0.99 a dozen eggs is little more than that... that sounds like a lot of meals for the price of a drive thru meal. If you're getting a drink and a mcdouble a couple times a day, that's already a week's worth of english muffins and eggs. Water is free to drink so choose that4

You can live off of rice & beans...and it's one of the cheapest foods out there, especially when you buy in bulk. Beans are a complete protein. Just FYI ...The nutritional benefits are off the roof! Lots of fiber too...4

JessicaMcB wrote: »Okay well if you have 72 hours off food that means you'll have saved $15 in dollar menu funds to put towards some of the meal stretching staples suggested previously, which will in turn defray your initial costs. Hallelujah, the hospital has saved the day!
This, absolutely. $15 can go a long way to stocking a pantry if you're careful and go in with a plan. OP, living with a tight grocery budget sucks -- a lot of us have been there, but being fat also sucks. You have to pick which one you want.6 -
a few years ago, I was unemployed and like you, I budgeted $5 or less per day for food. ideally, I wanted to spend $25 a week.
I went to the grocery store with a pad and pen and spent 2 hours just walking through every aisle. I made a list of all the stuff I liked, that I could buy and turn into multiple meals that would satisfy me. once I had the list, I put together a meal plan. I am someone that could enjoy eating the same thing for the whole week, so that made things easier for me. if that's not for you, there is still A LOT of variety and choices out there, you just got to put in a little research.

My understanding is that its only a complete protein when paired with rice1 -

We're a pretty good group of supportive people who take time out of their day to genuinely help people who WANT it. It sounds like you have an answer/excuse for every suggestion. My next suggestion is to just stay fat. You've been offered plenty of good advice here, I'm done. best of luck4

This is correct. You don't have to eat them at the same time in order to get all your essential amino acids, but it is rice and beans together that make a complete protein.1 -

Why would you eat fast food if you're low on money? Spend your food money at stores like Aldi (or whatever cheap store you have available) and load up on oatmeal, beans, veggies, fruits, and tuna..dirt cheap.
It is not expensive to eat healthy/filling.
-also; if you're primarily eating McDonald's that explains why you feel like crap.0 -
