Well, I'm not sure about that pain @RespectTheKitty. I was thinking a strained muscle, but that position is a bit odd. Hope it clears right up!

@skippygirlsmom - Long, slow uphill grades are my nemesis!! At least you finished! And congrats to Skip!

@RespectTheKitty could the abdominal pain be gallbladder?

@RespectTheKitty - have you had this pain before or is it new - it sounded like you thought it only came on whilst running?

I find I get pain along that line (just below the ribcage) when I get IBS cramps, but I have also had it from disordered breathing (I noticed something similar after scuba diving). You said you drank lots of fluids so it may be associated with that.

Ran with my husband this morning. My hip is in a lot of pain, but I'm trying a new pair of sneakers. Hoka Bondi 5s. They are so cushiony! I hope it works. I was able to pick up the pace after the first mile and my last mile was just under 9 min pace. The sun was shining and it was warm, but not terribly humid.

Have 4 miles to run tomorrow.

And once again, just for the OCD types out there...I did 14.99 miles. Happy Memorial Day!

    Darn you.

    Double darn you. :)

I make a note of my time for the mileage I run to keep track of my run times, But I always plan out routes so I have at least a half mile cool down walk.
I can't even stop Runkeeper until it hits :30 or :00 seconds. I will keep walking until it happens.

    Nice race @hanlonsk ! Congrats!

Great job to Skip on her race - impressive, and good for you @skippygirlsmom on that challenging course that hates you. That hill! Must revenge!

Got a dog walk in this morning before it started to really rain, then waited it out to run later. Finally cleared off and was pretty nice out, if a little humid. Had another easy 30 minutes. Have to say that I've enjoyed this week of taking it easy after my HM last Sunday. Tomorrow starts my new season of the marathon/half marathon training group so I will be gearing back up. I'm training for another half in the fall. I feel encouraged that I can really improve with how far I've come in the last year and just coming off a much more successful half than the one I trained for last fall.

The conversation a few pages back has me thinking about whether the half is the longest distance I want to do. I think I'll see how this training season goes. Right now I think I just want to do a few HM a year, with some destination races for fun. But the back of mind says wouldn't it be something to do a full marathon next year for my 50th birthday? Yes, it would. But the front of my mind (stupid executive function) says I don't really want to TRAIN for a full.

Hope you have all had a good long weekend, and hope it's a good week going into June!

So after sometime off, would you reset your PR's? I worked so hard to get them where they are, but currently I can't even come close.

I think resetting them will offer positive feedback when I do improve. Currently Garmin says I basically suck compared to most female runners in my age group. Ya, that's because most of them aren't recovering and arent having an issue with arm fat chaffe

Guess I can note them in my training log and hit reset. What do you think? Have you hit reset before?

As far as the abdominal pain, it was definitely caused by the running because it stopped as soon as I slowed to a walk. It could have been IBS, as that is something I struggle with occasionally. When I was in the shower after the run, my stomach felt weird, like kind of how it gets when I drink too much on an empty stomach. So I'm thinking I probably drank too much water on an empty stomach. Next time I go for a long run I'll be more careful and see what happens.

I love that you've all banded together to support @HonuNui and the Melanoma Cure 5k. It's a cause near to my heart and I've love to contribute. I'm not in a position to donate right now, but will definitely be doing so before the race takes place. Thanks @Orphia for setting that up. I've also been a lot more diligent in applying sunscreen and have made a skin check appointment I've been putting off for awhile.

Also, I'm not sure what made me think of this, but I thought I saw some talk of setting up a FB page for this group awhile back when I was skimming the thread. Did something ever get set up?

@juliet3455 With all the comments on your username, I had to backtrack to find your great explanation. I love the meaning behind it...thanks for sharing that!

@girlinahat Great pictures! Looks like you had a fabulous time!

@Elise4270 Saw your comment about ordering more body glide and thought I'd let you know that I have I've had more success with good 'ol vaseline than I ever did with body glide. After running the last 10 miles of my race on Saturday drenched from head to toe, I even had some chafing on my lower back from the band on my shorts...new one for me.

@skippygirlsmom Way to go to the both of you for finishing that tough race and congrats to Skip for the AG placing!

    @hanlonsk Great race!

I say reset. You have the old ones noted. Setting new PRs will help motivate you. Having old ones that are "out of your league" will just be a bummer. You're a great runner and you deserve the acknowledgement of those new PRs
