Help! Bridesmaid dress doesn't fit. 2 weeks to go..

Just wear it during the service, then change into something that fits better for the reception.
It's just a wedding. I got married for $100 to someone I'd known for 2 months on a holiday, and been married 25 years and counting. It's just one day, and no-one but you will remember what you wore to the reception.
The bride may frown on her changing after the ceremony. I was a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding and we had these long, high-necked sheath dresses with really light weight fabric - I felt like I was wearing a long slip and felt really uncomfortable in it. I asked her if I could change out of it for the reception, and it was a big NO. Bridesmaids usually don't change out of their dresses. You may not have cared, but plenty of people do, and pictures last forever.3 -
My suggestion is to start doing OMAD immediately, go low carb or keto while doing OMAD, and drink only water, mineral water, unsweetened tea, or black coffee throughout the day. Nothing with artificial sweeteners. Don't restrict calories during your one meal. I believe if you do this you will fit comfortably into your dress. Good luck.
I don't think that's a great idea. It's pretty easy to go over calorie goals if you've been deprived. Especially if you can justify it as "your one meal of the day".

every 5lbs down is not a clothing size for everyone. I wear the same size I do now whether Im 10lbs more or less. for some it takes 30+ lbs to lose a size everyone is different

That's why I said "for me". But the OP didn't say what her weight/size was, so I can only go by my starting at 172lbs in March and being 151lbs now. So if I started as a Size 12 and can now wear a Size 8 loose....I'm just averaging the math. I am nearly 5'7, though so her height is as mystery, too.
She did say the dress fits and zips up...but is uncomfortable/tight. So even 3 lbs plus some shapewear should solve the problem to get by for the day. A crash diet seems needlessly extreme.

I agree with you on the crash diet thing.0 -
There is shapewear that is stronger than Spanx, not sexy but it can cinch in inches. I would do low carb, drink lots of water, and maybe one of those wraps (NO it isn't permanent it is totally temporary but if it helps at all who cares).
How far are you honestly/realistic from this fitting?2 -
Not the answer you want.... but just have it taken out. The chances of you doing low carb for two straight weeks with preparations, bachelorette parties, and the rehearsal dinner are slim. I'm not being negative .. I just know personally I have an issue with upcoming events and just overall sabotage. If you think you can pull it off with shapewear and sticking to your calories, go for it! There will be nothing worse than the day of and you feel super uncomfortable and self conscious.4

Perhaps a good dressmaker could insert a panel of similar material?0

Are you about to start your period? It's possible that you're bloated and will see modest losses after you're done. Everyone else has given the best advise possible, but I still don't think two weeks is enough time to go from "so tight it may rip" to "I'm able to enjoy myself and eat my meal and dance"...I'm sure it's not what you want to hear, but you should seriously consider getting it altered, or even purchasing a new dress that fits. It's such a yucky feeling to be self-conscious and having to appear in so many photos with a large group of people.
Story time: My wedding dress didn't fit but not because of weight. It was a 'seconds' that I got for a tremendous discount, because the lining was sewn in crooked/against the bias. Looked wonderful while standing still but as soon as I moved the lining would shift from the top layer of chiffon and everything bunched/fell down (it was strapless). Unfortunately, I let my frugal nature win and spent my wedding day incredibly uncomfortable and self-conscious. Don't make my same mistake!2 -
So update lol! I may have not been doing it the healthy way since I got it last fitted but just tried dress on and now it's too big! No happy medium here.
Tips on if it stays that way how I can take it in more without alters? Safety pins possibly? Etc2 -
Why can't you get it taken out1

Really?! I must be really naive but how much weight can you lose to make a dress go from hardly fitting tight to so much too big in 4 days.... or were you just bloated when it was too tight?
:huh:13 -
honestly pay for alterations but if you really just want to lose the weight I would follow a vegan whole foods diet (so lots and lots and lots of vegetables, fruit, some but not a lot of nuts) and also well fitting shape wear

Don't use safety pins, they have this horrible habit of looking ugly and like to become unsprung. Get it altered properly.1

How much did you lose in 4 days?
Where is it too loose?
I'd say use pins. Padded bra. Belt in a matching color.
Eat and drink normally.1 -
how exactly in 4 days did you go from one extreme to another??7

What style of dress is this? It sounds very unforgiving if it can go from too small to too big in a few days...
Assuming you're not either busting out of it or dealing with it falling off you, I say wear the darn dress and accept that the day isn't about you and part of being a bridesmaid is wearing a funky, slightly ill-fitted dress that you wouldn't normally pick out in order to help make your friend happy on her wedding day.15 -

Ding ding ding. This for the win!4 -
Have the dress altered and pay more attention to proper diet and exercise from now on.
You don't gain or lose so much weight as to make it so your clothes don't fit overnight.2 -
Don't use safety pins. I don't know what your dress looks like, but if it's a little loose (and I'm assuming that it's just a LITTLE loose, since it was too tight a few days ago) wear a push-up bra and use fashion tape to hold it in place in a few spots if necessary.
(If it was a touch too tight one day, and a touch loose a few days later, I'm guessing that this dress fits you PERFECTLY and it's probably just not a style that you feel comfortable with.)7 -
Man, that does sound like an unforgiving dress. What kind of cut is it? Is there a particular part of it that's getting too loose / too tight?0

being vegan doesnt mean you will lose the weight, you need a deficit. lots of overweight vegans here.7 -

Sheesh, I'm not saying change into a tracksuit and ugg boots, and she's not going to have "Bridesmaid" tattooed on her forehead in the photos.
Just wear the tight dress in the ceremony, then change into a nice dress suitable for a wedding for the reception, if the bridesmaid dress doesn't have enough material in it to be taken out.0 -

u consistently give terrible advice
Orphia, has been successful in her weight loss and has been a great member of this community. You could learn a lot from her. There is no need to be insulting, just because you disagree with her opinion on this subject.tiffaninghs wrote: »LoMonroe87 wrote: »Getting it taken out isn't an option right now. MASTER CLEANSE!!!!!!!!!
Horrible idea and can cause some rather unpleasant outcomes. There has been some rather graphic posts of said outcomes. Plus it can risk heath. It's also no longer relevant, if you read the rest of the thread.
OP, not sure what you've done to go from the dress being too small to now being too big in four days, and probably best that you don't share. I agree with those saying the day is about the bride and groom. No need to harm yourself to get there.3 -
