Mine is "muscle doesn't way more than fat because 1kg of muscle weighs exactly the same as 1kg of fat".
However in future I will simply say "Due to the difference in density, the volume of muscle required to achieve a specific weight is much less than the volume of fat required to achieve the same weight and therefore when your body loses volume while retaining it's weight it is likely that your muscle volume has increased proportionality to a decrease in fat volume".
MUCH simpler than simply saying "muscle weighs more than fat".38 -

Just... Look, we all make mistakes. But what is the point of being sapient, social creatures with written and spoken language, if we're not going to communicate and learn from each others' mistakes and resolve to make our own, unique ones? Enough women have spun the "will I get into this dress in time?" wheel and either lost, or 'won' and looked deathly ill on the day.
Can people please stop doing this to themselves? Please?
If you are planning a wedding, look for a design of dress that fits now and could be easily taken in, if necessary. Talk to a seamstress about it. They'll thank you for consulting them before you purchase the damn thing, rather than bringing it in at short notice because it's still too small.

Not weight related, but it happens here more often than anywhere else I go: Mothers who refer to themselves as "mommies" or other baby talk names when talking to other adults.
But, to each their own. It's convenient when the words are in the subject line, because then I can just skip those threads.25 -
not a singular word but a common phrase/excuse
"I lost XXX pounds before, but then life happened and i gained it all back. "
It bothers me because they are making excuses, STILL. Life doesnt force say 100lbs of cheeseburgers down your throat. Take some responsibility and accept your role in your situation. THEN Maybe you will keep it off this time for GOOD.31 -

These aren't reasons, they're excuses.11 -
No phrases bother me. It is however hilarious that so many people are bothered by such trivial things.
One thing that is troublesome is that people have decided to take phrases that had a reasonably accepted & understood definition and make up a completely individualized one so that now the phrase becomes useless and people need to ask what that individuals definition is.20 -

Fair question. They sound like someone's been watching too much reality TV. They apply drama where it isn't warranted. People get so breathless about this stuff, when steady habits are what bring long-term success.
[Transformation is OK if someone else says it, but when someone says it about themselves, it's just too much.]

I don't mind people using them (as mentioned in my previous post because I know what people mean by that) but I don't like using them myself.
Transformation implies that my weight loss has transformed my life, that I was miserable and then did the extraordinary deed of losing weight. This has not been my experience, personally. I was happy and an overall alright person but I didn't want to be sick, so I lost weight. I'm not a better person now and there is nothing extraordinary about what I did, just a change in priorities. Thinking of it as a grand accomplishment just feels a bit excessive.
As for journey, I especially avoid that one because it does not support the mindset I'm trying to cultivate. Journey implies an end point, and there is no end point to what I'm doing (at least in the foreseeable future, I have no idea how my priorities will look like 10 years from now). It also implies leaving everything behind and overhauling my whole life, struggling with sweat and tears to overcome adversities. I have not made any grand changes in my life to achieve this and I don't feel like I sacrificed a lot, so the term feels excessive. And most importantly, I'm trying to "normalize" the way I'm currently managing my weight and treat it as a normal part of how I live my life. Adding a halo of grandiosity may amplify how I feel about the whole thing, and if I face difficulties instead of my current "oh well" approach I may be tempted to slip into a "Sisyphus" mindset making everything feel harder than it really is which is not at all how I want to feel about my weight.
I may be over-analyzing, I know, but how I use my words really does affect me precisely because of my over-analytical nature.22 -

Detox, cleanse, magic pills, magic shakes.
Basically anything that's a short cut to actually being healthy.
It's hard work sometimes and by making it sound easy is short changing everyone's determination and hard work to get healthy10 -

It's not "wrong". The question was what phrases annoy you. I don't need a rational reason to be annoyed by something. I think we all have our pet peeves.
I find "journey" to imply a level of drama and self-importance that makes me gag.
But, then, I'm also annoyed by chipmunks. No reason, they're just little jerks.45 -
I don't think it's very considerate for people to go in about how "gross" or "disgusting" they are and then state their weight. Chances are, someone reading has worked like crazy to get DOWN to that "disgusting" weight.
I get that people need to be real about their feelings and weight gain, but it seems really thoughtless to me.77 -

Oh and anything regarding ketosis, but particularly in women who are pregnant or nursing. I just have to not discuss it.

How is IF a myth?
Yeah, I agree with the nonsense surrounding it in some minds because it's unnecessary baggage. IF works for some people, but not for the reasons that some people say it does.
I just started eating later in the day when I realized that eating earlier turned on my appetite YEARS ago.
I never knew it was a "thing" until I started reading these boards.
I stick with my same working theory for me and don't bother with all the nonsense surrounding it because in my experience with dealing with weight issues for 40 years, every dieting plan tries to sell you on the idea of it having some super special property that makes it superior to all other methods for some reason or another and there are all sorts of magical methods involved in following said plan and all of the that noise surrounding such plans is to obfuscate that they all come down to CI<CO.6 -

I think the only thing that really bothers me is the spreading of misinformation that makes this whole deal harder than it has to be for people.10 -

ha. same here. as someone who eats below 1200 calories, seeing someone talk about 'starvation mode' (what IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE?) or tell me I'm going to die or gain weight is a just funny.7
