    But is it a sandwich?

    no, it's a hot dog

    analogy:

    is this a car ?

    half-ton-truck-1.jpg

    No.

It has tires and a steering wheel just like a car and drives on the same roads as a car, but it ain't a car....

But it's an automobile. A car is an automobile. So it is a car. You don't call them truck-cars where you live?

So you call pick-up trucks, cars?

    c'mon now, nobody does that.

No, but I hate hearing them called trucks.

    What do you call them?

Vans, but I guess maybe what I refer to as trucks, you probably call lorries.

Its a sandwich. In culinary terms, rolls are a form of bread ( leavened dough that is/was baked ).

When I was a kid I swear to god we never had freaking hot dog buns. Cut up hot dogs on wheat bread. My mom is basically a MONSTER.

Congratulations if you are one of those fancy rich people whose parents could afford hot dog buns.

I am so ashamed.... I do this sometimes. Usually when the buns got moldy or I plain forgot them at the store

Oh, man. I take it back. Hot dog sandwiches are the bomb.

At least your mom cut them up. I got this: znp0kf02u35r.jpg

Yes I can relate to both of those. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. It's the same meat, and the same bread recipe, only in a different shape.

Which means grilled cheese with tomato soup is just another form of pizza.

No... A sandwich is served between slices of bread, not in a bun.

Is a hamburger a sandwich then?

Hamburgers are made in round buns, not between slices of bread. (so, no, a hamburger is not a sandwich)

Actually, a hamburger is a type of sandwich. The type of bread used is irrelevant. Also, you've never had a hamburger between 2 slices of bread? I have, when I've run out of buns. Hamburgers have to do with the ground meat patty.

    CALIFORNIA: HOT DOGS ARE SANDWICHES

Hot dogs are often snagged in the center of the sandwich semantics drama. Despite fitting the description of a food product served on a bread-like product, many sandwich purists insist that hot dogs deserve their own category. California joins Merriam-Webster in declaring that a hot dog is a sandwich nonetheless. The bold word choice appears in the state’s tax law, which mentions “hot dog and hamburger sandwiches” served from “sandwich stands or booths.” Applying the sandwich label to burgers is less controversial, but it’s still worth debating.

I don't think I've ever heard an Australian call a hamburger a sandwich, to me the bread is completely relevant.
If I was putting a burger pattie between 2 slices of bread, I wouldn't be calling it a burger!

Yeah I call it a hamburger too. But it's still a sandwich.

Why is it called a hamburger at all? Unless it’s made out of pork, the term is inaccurate.

Edit: unless it’s actually a person from Hamburg, in which case it’s legit

Is a sandwich not classified by slices of bread? This is on a long shaped roll with meat inside.

Isn't that also a taco though?

    I do not disagree, but....
@cee134 will argue any conclusion you come up with.

I will not argue any conclusion one comes up with! Especially if it's the correct one.
