Just got back from the doctor. No tear, possible strain, but she really thinks it's just recovery from the severe cramping a week ago. Other than saying I'm crazy for running a marathon through the woods, she gave me a clean bill of health and said I could run. Going to keep the specialist PT appointment though, just to be on the safe side.

    Yay!

GOT MY HYDRATION PACK!! Unfortunately, work employment is getting in the way of me getting familiar intimate with it.

So far I love how light it is. And the note from the designer with his personal suggestions. It's already 100 out so.... No guarantee I'll try it out today. We'll see.

I didn't tell DH I bought it. But to be fair now, he just got a 110$ ticket. I think that makes us even. But if I break it out for our usual weekly longer run (not as long as @garygse 's runs) I'm obviously going to hafta 'splain. He already thinks I squirrel money away.*ehm, duh, 2nd marriage. I did learn something in the 1st. So, I may have to wait until Monday to try it. Unless I come up with a legit money having reason..... Oh, maybe someone knows a rep that got me a deal on it.... Mmm. Needs work. Hiding it in the boot for now.

I could rub it in the dirt and claim a co-worker gave it to me? Might be suspicious that I mentioned I wanted this exact on though.

Oh I've had this thing for ages? Nah...

"i'm pretty sure I told you I was ordering that. You probably just forgot."

Oh hell ya! I knew you had my back

And someone did get you a discount... not exactly a rep but Rachel is an Orange Mud ambassador!!

Must not be a runner. If she were a runner, she would have said you were crazy for running a trail marathon that soon after Grandma's.

Of course, it's only crazy if you get hurt.

I am in the car (DH is driving) on our way to SF and took advantage of the time to get a bit caught up again. I did get out early this morning for what was going to be a short easy run. It felt so good, overcast and high 60's out, and like @ddmom0811, I just wanted to run so I did. Got in 5 miles at an average 11 min mile... too far and too fast just days before my race but it felt wonderful! I checked the weather in SF for Sunday and it is supposed to be a high of 68 and in the mid to low 50s at the start. I am so excited just to run in the cool weather!

Seems like we are all getting running things we ordered! My Steigen socks arrived yesterday after Amazon said it wouldn't be here until mid-August what with shipping from AU. They came from Colorado though and with a nice note from their rep!
Also on Socks - if you want to try Balega or need some new ones active.com has many styles for around $5 (https://gearup.active.com//Event.aspx?l=00011845304700000000&a=072017_AGU_Balega_FeatureStory&jb=n&mobile=false)
@HonuNui - love the raccoon fish! I have never seen them before
@MNLittleFinn - so glad there is no serious injury or tear!

She thought Grandma's was crazy. Her actual diagnosis was too much lactic acid build up and a lack of electrolytes on race day, leading to lactic acid and other "poisons" as she put it, staying in my leg longer. She said it wasn't a tear or a strain or any other real injury, just that I needed recovery because of my poor electrolyte intake and running on a cramped up calf... then she said I was crazy, but in one of those admiring voices... she's a hiker who has hit the trails I was running....

Oh, and it's official, I'll be helping to run the "what color is your pee?" aid station next week.

He's so forgetful too. It's the perfect retort. I even have it in a text message where he said "ok" to my "I want this".

@shanaber yup! I remembered the real discount.. I just don't wanna fess up to all I have stashed. Haha!

Ill you tube it too. It's not tight in the shoulders, where'd I'd guess it would be. There is some bounce. But I imagine that no hydration pack will feel invisible.

Hurray for new trekking poles @MNLittleFinn , which ones did you go with?

@Elise4270 I have bounce with both of my Nathan packs (less so in the sized VaporAiress than in the OS Firestorm). I find it very difficult to get a good fit for small upper body. Nathan does carry women's XXS in sized packs if you end up wanting another one that might fit better.

Got my 20 in tonight with a 60/40 trails to road ratio, officially considering my ankle in good enough shape to run 35 of trail tomorrow- no joint puts baby in the corner! Results pending ;)

@JessicaMcB I got a cheap pair of BAFX. They are twist lock, so that will be interesting, seeing how easy they are to collapse and get back to lenght, but my buddy who's run several ultras and is very frugal recommended them. Kind of thinking that this pair will be mainly to see if I like using trekking poles.

Thanks. I originally was looking for Nathan but then OrangeMud popped up in my search. And I love OrangeMud. I'm not sure why... Maybe i just like saying it, like googolplex or discombobulated, or dephlogisticated... I digress.. I could give this one to DH if I have too. I'm a medium in women's running tops. Small (usually) in regular clothes. So I'm not really that small... I don't think...

I felt off today. Not sure why - only one yoga session since my last run, got a late start, extra hot and humid, stupid perimenopausal night sweats, not enough sleep earlier in the week, any or all? So I just plugged along slowly, never feeling off enough to stop.

The little old man I always see walking dogs with a my-aged woman called me "kiddo" today!

15 hard miles this morning. Zone2 for most of the run with some zone1. Struggled through the second half, ran fasted with my hydration pack , drank a liter and a half though I would say the temperature and conditions were mild compared to previous long runs. Not running tomorrow.

Wasn't a run, but I got in a 3 mile hile with some coworkers. Very slow, but got over 800 feet of elevation over the 3 miles. Calf felt GREAT, even ion my new 0 drop Altras. Might try an easy run tonight to test it for real.
