Many teachers don't even teach from the text. Every time an edition changes,the students are either unable to sell back the previous edition or get next to nothing for it. It's a scam industry. I worked for the campus book store during my college years.
It truly is a scam. The "version" changed semester to semester and once you bought it, it was worth nothing. I would've gotten way better grades if I could afford all my books. One engineering textbook was near $300.
Then you have the teachers who require the students to buy their personally made, cheaply binded study guides that change frequently. At a bargain rate of 75 dollars or so.4 -
