Okay, now as others have said, if you can run 12 in training you can run more than 13 in a race. In fact, I would bet you could run 15 in a race. Heck, 20 miles is all I ran before my first marathon. I forget what the percent is but there is some rule of thumb that you only need run like 70% of your race distance in training.
That aside, if you have 4 extra weeks, my suggestion would be to look at the last five weeks. Push the last week off so that it is the week of the race (as it is intended to be), and repeat the 4 that are left of that 5 in order. So... week 8,9,10,11,8,9,10,11,12. With out knowing your plan, I think that might work okay. As @_nikkiwolf_ said there are patterns the plans follow so you do not want to just repeat one week over and over.
That is my best guess based on knowing nothing at all about anything at all so take it as it is worth.
@WandaVaughn I agree with @PastorVincent. What he describes it what I did last year. I had 3 events in September. So I trained for the first one and re-cycled the last weeks of the plan between the other events. A common Training concept is to slowly ramp up and then taper back and that is exactly what PastorVincent described. This year for my A Event 20km Mountain Run I never ran 20km in training, my biggest was 15-16km.1 -

She looked at me and said "I know if I was still in Russia I would probably be dead by now". She understands through no fault of Russia as a country that it's a very rough life for orphans who leave the orphanage and then have live in the real world. She said I truly appreciate everything living in the United States has given me and what you have given me.
The words the Judge spoke about citizenship truly moved me to tears. I told him afterwards that his words should be playing on a loop on the nightly news.
She also had a cool thing happen, an acquaintance of hers who graduated last year was there. Turns out she was also adopted from Russia so that was special for them and a man who we see at lots of races was there, I can't for the life me of me recall his name, but he recognized her. Thanks again.
So cool! And she's beautiful!

10.5 km Pats Creek uphill - 12ft Bush Trail for the return downhill. That was a lot of work and a lot of fun. Roots and Ruts, single track, Quad ATV Double track and some bushwhacking to get around some swampy bits with minimal water damage. Really needed some hydration but left my water bottle in my truck at the Rec Center. Strava

Great run today. It was still a little warm, but so much cooler than it has been. I can feel fall just around the corner. I've been feeling really good after my runs lately. I still can't believe how much I enjoy running.
@skippygirlsmom Congrats to you and Skip! She really is a lovely young lady.
3 -
@skippygirlsmom that is AWESOME!!!!!!
4 -
@skippygirlsmom Yes A big congratulations to Skip on her Official Citizen Ship, and you for surviving the twisted path of Foreign adoption that brought her to North America. That she recognizes what a gift she has received says so much about her good character.2

Cold is still doing its thing. You know what they say, take 14 days to beat a cold with out medication, or 2 weeks with it - so probably just have to ignore it for a while.
Today I officially started my anti-t-rex plan. Man, I am such a wimp. Had to use all the really small looking weights just so I could get through my sets. Ah well. Gotta start somewhere I guess. If I can make myself do this for like 6 months, I might be able to pick up a full cup of coffee with out help!
After that, I went out for a short run. Just 5 miles, but for some reason, it was really hard. My HR stayed mostly in Z4 even though my pace did not seem to be fast enough to warrant that reading. I was struggling so Z4 was probably correct, but I refused to give up my pace, especially since I was already running (groan) late. Maybe the cold is sapping more of me than I think it is. No matter, tomorrow I will be down the second part of the two part strength plan and try to get another 5 or 6 miles in.6 -

1128.6 miles/2,017 miles - goal for the year
Today I feel like my heart rate was just way too high, especially on the first run of the day. From the second I started running I felt it. Ugh. So annoying. I'm thinking maybe it was partly stress-related as it was my last day at work before going away and I was freaking out trying to make sure I got as much done as possible. I think I'm also just tired from training, and I don't want to burn out. On Sunday I was feeling guilty for not doing my long run even though I KNEW I was just swapping it with my rest day on Monday and would still do it. So I think mentally too I'm just a bit worn out from training.
Which makes tomorrow's trip perfectly timed! It's my best friend's birthday weekend and we're going to Jamaica to an all-inclusive resort from Thurs to Wed. I've packed running gear, but we'll see if I get any running done, lol. I'm hoping for a couple runs but I'm gonna try not to put much too pressure on myself.7 -
Also, @skippygirlsmom that is so awesome! Your daughter looks beautiful!0

@skippygirlsmom Skip is such a sweet girl, she is lucky to have a mom who could foster that level of insight in her
Sunset run today, deadly early run tomorrow before we drive to my mom's for the long weekend. Running my long runs in Cowtown will make for interesting tales if I can rouse some of my Calgary running buddies!

Finished the month on 45/40 miles
I think given that my schedule changes quite a bit next month and I won't have anywhere near as much spare time, I think that trying to maintain that 45 mile level is the most realistic target.
Congrats to everyone who has hit their running target!7 -

@skippygirlsmom - Congratulations to Skip, what an exciting day for her!

Another kick*kitten* tempo Thursday run today!! It was a hilly route so I had to keep my running partner in check - what comes up MUST come down! - and overall we aimed for 8:20 pace and we hit 8:20 on the nose when it was all said and done (excluding warm up and cool down miles). I'd say that's a pretty perfect pace/effort combo!
Just 4-5 more miles tonight after work to hit my goal. Then another rest day tomorrow to kick off September. Hooray!
Upcoming Races:
Oct 8: Steamtown Marathon
Oct 22: Perfect 10 (10 Miler)
Nov 5: Princeton Half Marathon (pacer)

@skippygirlsmom - kept choking back the tears reading your posts about you and your daughter. It's surprising sometimes what will suddenly happen and put things in such clear perspective. Without a doubt, it was worth the missed run1

I started running the beginning of August with the C25K program. Am late to the August Challenge but thought I'd post my progress...
Proud to say I'm in Week 4 and have logged 28.7 miles this month of running.
My goal is to stick with the program and see it to the end of week 9. After that who knows?....11 -
Way to go @jlscherme ! And congrats to everybody for a rather successful close to the running summer- now give us fall and pumpkin spice gels or something
Was aiming for 420k/263mi and hit 535k/334mi even with a mini taper against Edmonton so a pretty good month all in. September will likely be my highest volume month this year though, so pray for my quads lol. See you in September all!

August Goal: Not die while ramping up running mileage and technicality during 100K training
Nominal mileage goal: 250 miles HAHAHAHA not gonna happen
Today's notes: Got up at 0410 and headed to the ski resort. plan was 7 miles and I got in 7.2 doing "short" repeats. total elevation was 1413, so a good run. This was my last run of August.
I didn't make my goal, however, I did get something like 20000 feet of elevation this month, so that feels pretty good, considering all my road runs were on pretty darn flat courses.
Have a Runderful day everyone!

School holiday today, so I could have a preferred morning run. Chose to go into work a little late today, in part because I had to work both days last weekend and will almost certainly be working both days plus Monday this weekend, so I didn't have to cut my run short or run in the dark.
The long hill that I normally grumble all the way up did not bother me today, and I didn't start thinking about when I might be done until I was past 4.25 miles, so my brain has apparently adjusted to going farther.6 -
@skippygirlsmom - Wow! What a fantastic day!0
-
Despite a lot of intervening family weirdness, I did manage to keep the run schedule this week. While I'm no longer really focused on weight loss, I had a breakthrough on that front this week, as I dipped under 170 for the first time in a long time (I'm 5'8", so I'm still not really thin). That puts me at about 45 lbs lost and kept off for about 3 years. I've been close to this point before, and went up with lifting and muscle gain. This time the same weight has come with a new higher level of fitness and tone that I really hadn't imagined when I started on this path in 2013. The plan going forward is to try to enjoy the ride and continue to learn and improve. And maybe a few days of patting myself on the back. Eighteen months ago, I couldn't run a quarter-mile without stopping, and this morning I only walked a couple of times over 3+ miles; I'm feeling better about my physical self than I may ever have in my 50+ years.
Exceeded my first month's goal by over 20%: 54.29 for 45. My running is limited almost as much by the time I have before work in the mornings as by ability, so I'm only going to bump up September's goal by a little. Going for 50 in September. Thanks to the good people on this board for your willingness to share, support and encourage.
If there's anyone in the roughly 10:30-11:30/mile category that wants to be a MapMyRun team member, let me know.

Took a big step today and actually did some speed work. I did 12X1minute hill repeats with 2 minutes recovery. I was worried that it might be too much and I think I was getting close to my limit but my legs feel good. I didn't wake up early enough to do more than 4.5 miles so I'll miss my goal by about 10 instead of 8. Going to try a longer run on Saturday of 14 miles.

As promised I took a rest day today. What an amazing day with Skip. I thought the ceremony would be a quick no big deal, but it wasn't. The Judge talked how the Citizenship Ceremony is without a doubt the greatest pleasure he has in a court room. He gave what I would call the best speech I have EVER heard on why it's an honor and privilege to be a citizen. I looked over at Skip and tears were streaming down her face. I'm so glad she decided to take this step though technically she didn't have to, she was so proud. I had to share. She asked the Judge if she could sit in his chair, the court clerk said it was the first time anyone had ever asked that. Shocking!
I have to admit, I cried a little when I read this. You have raised one fine young lady!2 -
Well. Following pt guidance. I did 1mile Monday. And .7 yesterday. Yes, .7 - I should have stopped at .5. I am realizing already the hard part about this is going to be the not being stubborn bit. I am used to having a goal time or miles and going for it. If that is going to work I need to be good about self checking and stopping if it doesn't feel perfect.
Also, when you are on vacation, and only get a mile you try and find a really pretty mile.

Way shy of goal this month at 145. But at least I am getting back into the groove of things.
I will post September's challenge in a second. Great job with everyone else on your goals and races.
I have skimmed through everyone's accomplishments but got way behind to really comment on everything.
Good luck next month.
keep on keeping on!!!!!

EDIT: @MobyCarp Yeah, sorry about your injury problems. Not the contest either of us wanted to be in. Good look with your recoup.
