Cottage cheese intake

Your biggest danger is boredom. Eat as much as you enjoy and fits in to your calorie goal for the day.
The second danger is pushing out other important foods like vegetables. An all protein diet is tough on the old colon.
The final danger is simply eating to bursting. I am sure you don't intend that.
Keep in mind all the other lovely protein-laden foods like eggs, fish, chicken, beef, and tofu.3 -
How much are you thinking of eating? In the amounts I can imagine people eating regularly (and I love the stuff), no issues, but you can have too much of anything.1

I don't know why anyone would "woo" that . . . there is DHMO in it. People need to read this site:

OP, don't worry about the DHMO in cottage cheese. You'd have to eat gallons and gallons of cottage cheese for it to be a problem, and smaller doses of DHMO don't accumulate unhealthfully in the body over time.
Also, this (passage quoted above) was a joke. He just forgot the .RuNaRoUnDaFiEld wrote: »You can eat as much as you like of it as long as you are not sacrificing other micros/macros.
Make sure you hit your fat goal, eat a wide range of coloured vegetables/fruits. Add in other protein sources for variety. Chicken tuna, eggs etc.
This one (passage quoted just above) is true and correct. Many other people's replies are meant to be playful, not so much helpful. Enjoy your cottage cheese!
I'd guess the bolded above is why it got wooed. Not that there isn't any but that the poster was recommending not eating it. If it was humor, that wasn't clear. On the other hand, I have seen some blatantly factual things wooed so who knows why people do these things....
Zach got wooed, not me. Yes, Zach did not say that DHMO poisoning is dose-dependent, which is why I added that part, and Zach apparently suggested avoiding cottage cheese entirely, which is Just Wrong unless you dislike it or are lactose intolerant. Yes, DHMO is H2O is water. Yes, consume too much water in too short a time period, and it will kill you (by screwing up your electrolyte balance, not by making you burst, or something like that, though there probably exists some quantity that would so that, too). Hyponatremia is a thing.
And I did put in the .2 -

Yup, I understood it was Zach that got wooed. I apologize I wasn`the more clear. I meant he might have got wooed because it isn't really a problem. Apparently Zach`s humor is too subtle for my limited comprehension.2 -
The limit for me is only the amount of cottage cheese in my house.2

Dunno. Is there a maximum dosage listed on the package? You wouldn't want to OD....2

Can I ask what's potentially unsafe about cottage cheese?1

I just figured that people would know that DHM is water.

Lol, well obviously not me! But thanks Zach. It is one of my goals at the advanced age of 66 to learn something new every day and today, I did thanks to you.0 -
I don't know about safe but I can only handle eating around 113 g a day of cottage cheese before I want other food.
Eat what you like that fits your goals.0 -
It probably depends on if it's full fat or fat free, though the flavor of fat free might be enough to kill ya.
Considering a full container of Mayfield's cottage cheese has 720 calories, 30g fat, 3200mg sodium, 30g carbs and 78g protein.0 -
Yeah, OP isn't coming back0

Thank you all
I was worried cuz on Google somewhere it said cottage cheese is harmful for kidneys
Anyways I am taking only 100 grams a day just it seems I don't have to worry about it
Thanks once again0 -

Googling it, cottage cheese is even ok for people with kidney failure and on dialysis. So wherever you got your information is stunningly wrong.5 -
It pisses me off that you need guidance to cottage cheese. I need guidance to...so many things. So many things that require a therapist and money.
Just eat the *kitten* cottage cheese.
Also, MFP, I'm drunk. Please forgive me.17 -

Yeah, even then, 30g of fat is perfectly within reason for damn near anyone.
The only people who might need to be wary on the cottage cheese intake are those with a sodium sensitivity and/or hypertension, as all cottage cheese (and most cheeses in general) tend to contain a pretty large amount of sodium, and those with dairy allergies. The latter should be pretty damned obvious, but I figured I'd add it anyway.2 -

It's only harmful eating a lot of it if your kidneys are already close to end stage, since at that point your body can't effectively get rid of excess potassium and phosphates (which all milk products have a ton of). If your kidneys are working fine now though, then there's no danger.2 -
It does make me gag after a while....1

Guess I've been using the "woo" button wrong - I've been clicking it for silly posts or posts that make me go "woo!", not things that I think are "woo-woo", if you catch my drift...2 -

Cottage cheese is delicious.
With no snacks (cookies, chips, etc.) in the house, last night I mindlessly ate almost the whole 16 oz container of cottage cheese. I was only going to have a spoonful. Fortunately, I'm still within my calorie goal. However, up .2 lbs this morning from the sodium. Yes - I was over my sodium goal.0 -

I don't know if sodium can make difference in weight but what I found is just 100 gram cottage cheese added to my daily diet got me 4.5 kg of muscles in a week time. As I take fats percentage and muscles percentage weekly.lost around 3.5 kg of fats. Waist is one inch down
I wonder if it really works like that or it was with me only?11 -

Sodium can cause water retention so yes, it can make a difference in weight. As for the rest of your post, NO!! You can simply NOT build 4.5kgs of muscle in a week any which way, never mind because you ate 100g of cottage cheese a day. That has to be the bizarrest claim I think I have heard on MFP!! How did you measure that, just out of curiosity?4
