Graduated college 30 lbs heavier than when I started and I wasn't in the best shape to begin with. I started a new job, moved to a new city, and as i was "reinventing my normal" I decided now was the perfect time. I'm ready to work on who I've wanted to be for a long time.3

I suffered from panic attacks, shortness of breath, dizzy spells, numbness and migraines. Finally went to see a specialist and informed me that I might be gluten intolerant. So since May 2016 I changed my eating habits and exercised and I have never felt greater!0

Are you planning on killing me? At least wait until I get back from vacation.
With me its never planned. It's more spontaneous.1 -

I have been thinking about getting serious about weight loss and fitness for quite awhile now. Several recent events made me decide to do something. I recently tried on a t shirt that I wanted to buy, and the extra large was too small. Not always the case, but was this time. Being with my grandsons and not being able to keep up with them was another sign..Being 61 and having avoided diabetes and heart problems (for now) but wondering how long that could last with my current overweight state. Having sleep issues due to overeating at night...Being lucky enough to travel and being afraid that I will not be able to enjoy the next trip..and finally, I saw a picture of myself recently and it was truly AWFUL...time to do something...this group seems great..please keep up the good work and keep on keeping on!!!0

After a lifetime of gaining weight with occasional successful diets to lose Lbs only to put them back on plus more.
I got up 376# in 2012.
Thanksgiving 2012 my 28 yo son told me, his 65 yo father:
"Every time we talk to you about your weight, you just blow us off,"
That sentence made me recall how me and my siblings tried to get our mother to quit drinking, She didn't and died of alcoholism related causes at age 55.
I promised him I would do something. Joined WW Jan 2013, I'm still working the plan and have lost -173 so far.
The comment that took me back to my experience with my alcoholic mother made me realize I was killing my self with food not booze.
I chose not to do that.

My son has a chromosomal disorder called Prader Willi Syndrome. People who have this syndrome never feel full when they eat and spend their entire lives obsessed with food. Basically starving. When I had my son I was 275 and 5'3. My idea of fun was movies and snacks which was pretty much an every day thing. When I learned about this disorder I knew my lifestyle and his syndrome were a match and dynamite. For him, I learned how to care for him with an active lifestyle and an education in nutrition!7 years and 130 lbs later here I am, and he's a healthy weight!!6

Ordering a tshirt for an event at work, tshirt arrived and looked humongous. Put on shirt and it was kinda tight. When people ask how someone could let themselves get so big, I understand. What you see in the mirror and what's reality is not always the same.4

Went to the doctor and when they weighed me, I almost died. She told me I was 299 pounds. Right then and there, I decided I had to change my life. Started counting calories, doing cardio, and lifting heavy. I have a long way to go but, I'm closer than I was.3

In Feb my dad died of leukemia.
In April I lost my job.
In May I had to put my beloved dog to sleep because her trachea collapsed. She was my best friend.
I think I was drunk for most of June.
In July I decided that life was too short to spend every day miserable about something that I have complete control over. If I don't like who I have become, it's up to me to change it. I don't want to die fat and unhappy with regrets. I love my husband very much and want to spend as many years with him as I can. I owe it to both of us to take better care of my health.6 -
In Feb I got invited to a wedding at the end of April, I was 225 lbs, I wanted to get dressed nice and have good photos of the event so I committed to losing 35 lbs. I hit 190 around March 20, so I gave mysrlf a stretch goal of 175 lbs, almost made it, came in at 177 on the day of the wedding, here we are 4 months later and I am sitting stabile at 165 lbs, my weight from my senior year in high school, I haven't been this healthy in a very long time. I wake up happy and no longer eat away my feelings. It's a hard journey and it isn't over yet, but I'm still going and I have no intention of stopping.7
