Thanks for the welcome, ladies! I'm definitely looking for somewhere that I can post more than once a day, if I feel the need, and like I said share my victories and not so stellar moments also! lol My name is Evelyn, but I'm fine with Evie.
Sounds like I should post, or at least figure out, some goals for this month. The one major problem I have is after dinner grazing. And it's not because I'm hungry, I just want stuff to chew on, and let's face it, if carrot sticks did the trick none of us would be here, right??!! lol Anyway, if I brush my teeth after dinner I'm good, so that's going to be my first goal. I do quite well with working out, take a couple classes at the local rec centre and belong to a gym that I go to the other three weekdays. I work Fri, Sat and Sun, unfortunately the gym is open pretty much the same hours that I work on the weekends so don't get there, but I can get a fair amount of walking in while at work, so I try to make those steps really count!
Okay, done for tonight, "talk" to you all tomorrow!4 -
Happy Birthday Heather.
Hi Evelyn.
Allie I have had my animals used as lures in previous relationship break ups. I love them so much I can't just turn my back on them, so I totally understand your situation. So, here's my advice. Find a real nice animal-loving friend in your new place and get them to take one of the dogs, and you take the other and then you can cut all ties with the Ex. Obviously, you can't do that till you own rather than rent. Otherwise, time your visits with the dogs to when you are sure he won't be there. Best of luck to you.
Terry Glad we got to see your furr family. We have always had an orange cat. My current one is Fatty O. He started out as Little Orange and then he got big,and turned into a rare she and her name morphed.
Going out to hug my unicorn. Major is romping under my feet... Wendy3 -
Chris - You should never feel like your post is trivial.
KJ - That sucks that your husband is being treated like that after 23 years. Maybe a new and exciting door will open.
A trip to see JOAQUIN! Woo Hoo!
The treadmill will make a nice addition to your exercise arsenal
Josephine - The white iris sounds like a great secret surprise. Do you have a photo of it?
Lenora - Keira is 7. She has a big heart and an untamed spirit.
Lanette - It sounds like you have rediscovered your love for your home. Mine is in need of some loving.
Janetr - The llama herd is adorable. Olivia is also adorable. It looks like she is having a grand time with her Daddy.
Evie- Where in Western Canada? I'm in Southern Alberta
Allie- Tom came and got change back from you? Was it gold coins? I'm not sure that I like him knowing where you live.
Heather - Happy Birthday and Happy Holiday.
Worked today. I detest working on Sundays. We did do our chores on the farm but otherwise it was a day of rest. Today I was being the buffer between an employee and a manager. So not fun. Fixing registers. Comforting cashiers who bore the brunt of a few unhappy people. I always advise them to not take it personally but hard not to when customers say things like "You are the dumbest cashier I've ever seen. My card would work if you knew what you were doing" No, the card would work if you had the money in the bank. "You're trying to rip me off. This should be on sale" No, sir, she is doing her job and that item is not on sale.
It was one of those days. Even though the majority are wonderful the mean comments stick. I did get thanked for being me. That was very nice.
Came home and Larry wanted to do our regular Sunday movie date. I went but it almost seemed like I was lying. I am making the appointment to figure out the best way to tell him. He can be so charming but I know we are not done with Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. All the nice things can not undo the damage.
I finally have some photos on here so will try to share a few.

Happy birthday Heather!
Sorry to hear about your husband's job, Kelly. The employer sounds like a crapweasel. :grumble:
Machka wondered if sensitive skin is a menopause thing. I've got sensitive skin, but it's been that way for a long time. How sensitive? I can feel loose strands of hair under my shirt. They drive me crazy. I have to get rid of them, even if it means turning my shirt inside out. My husband snorts and says I'm imagining things. He says the reason I find loose hairs inside my shirt is that there are always loose hairs inside a shirt. But I can pinpoint and describe the location of a loose hair. Back when my kids still lived at home, if I felt a hair when I had my hands full of bread dough, I could tell a kid where the hair was, and they would remove it for me.
So obviously I don't like the tags in clothing either. I usually just cut them off, but sometimes the tag is sewn into the garment in such a way that removing it might cause damage. The solution I've found is to put a strip of surgical tape over those tags. It works like a charm! I have to remember to I remove the tape before washing, though.
I haven't had the mental and emotional wherewithal to set goals for some time. My back injury put so many things out of reach! But now the recovery process seems to have turned a corner. A month ago I got a one-year pass to the gym and I've done strength training three times a week since then. I added sprint training a week later. That really upped my calorie consumption! I'm doing core exercises diligently and they're helping my back. I'm back to planning the week's menu in advance. Last but not least, I've started logging meticulously again, and as of yesterday I'd lost 2.5 lbs.
October will be a tricky month. I'm going to mainland Norway today and will spend a week out at the island place, where it's time to harvest the potatoes. Then back to Svalbard for a week. Then I head to Stockholm for a week of teaching. These trips are full of hazards and potential pitfalls, but I'm aware of them. Taking a cue from Heather - Strategy is stronger than willpower - I am planning my strategy for how to get through the next three weeks.
Goals for October:
Exercise: strength training and/or sprint running and/or distance jogging 3 times per week
Logging: precise if possible, imprecise if not (Imprecise logging is better than NOT logging!)
Core exercises: every night
Menu planning: persevere in the hope of making it a habit

Janetr I'm here lurking lurking lurking. Thanks for thinking of me!...Don't worry about me at all, I've just gotten back from a vacation in Sanibel, FL with my partner and a friend from PA. Glorious week finding Gifts From the Sea (shells), bird watching in D'ing Darling Wildlife Refuge, and eating fresh seafood.
Barbie Thanks for the October thread.

Has anybody else noticed that MFP has changed its "rules" about how much one must eat?
Since a week or so back, it has accepted anything above 1000 kcal (for women) without scolding. Two weeks ago I was just under 1200 at the end of the day and MFP told me off. So I ate two pieces of peppermint candy I didn't need at all. That put me above 1200 and MFP was happy.

I just closed my diary netting 1024 calories (I was a little bit over yesterday, so it balances out), and MFP was fine with that.

Becca I agree with you on the coupons. I buy store brands almost all the time. One of the big box stores sends coupons for name brand items and when I shop, I usually see that the big box brand is cheaper even with the coupon.
DJ so sorry about the rude person that emailed you. You do so much for your Moose ladies, that was uncalled for.
Kelly what a s@@#$y thing for your DH’s company to do. Enjoy your time with Joquain (sp?). Your idea for adding more day care children sounds like a lot of work added already to your full load.
Heather HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Janet your ornaments are beautiful!
Alie you are not going to be able to move on with your life if you can’t loosen the ties you have with the dogs. I know how much you love them, but, it may be time to let go. I am not trying to be mean by saying that because we all care about you and want you to have a better life.
Sharon thanks for sharing your photos. You have a great looking family. What kind of store do you work in?
I have got to get back on the diet track and have started as of today. All the mess with the flooring has led to me eating to soothe my anxiety. I have been allowing my feelings to rule instead of my common sense.
Welcome to all the newbies.
