I just read Top 10 Cuba. It is a travel guide. I love reading about places I want to go before I go there. It is on my list.

I absolutely love the ridiculousness of that book. I highly recommend it to anyone with a weird curiosity.

Apologies for the double post, two separate thoughts.

I finished a self-published book (a friend of a friend of my sister’s) and the results were... uneven. I wished a heavier editing hand had helped guide the writer more, or recommended scrapping it and starting over...

At the risk of derailing this thread, what is everyone’s experience with self-published books?

    I hit a wall.
I got halfway through my last book and completely lost interest, put the book down for a bit and now I'm reading it again.

Just finished My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan (SO good--cried at the end) and moving on to Nation by Terry Pratchett and Lord of the Flies (the two books I assigned to my 8th graders for summer reading--clearly I have read them before but need to refresh--I read Lord of the Flies literally every summer). Also have When Life gives you Lululemons on deck--by the same author as The Devil Wears Prada.

I like to find these weird books on Amazon and read them. Some have insightful tidbits in them and others just have some pretty laughable premises.

Finding it interesting so far even though I've just started but seems to be a good read.
