Weighing after going to the bathroom- what does this mean to you?

I'm PO's that I forgot to weigh at all this morning. Routine got messed up.
Normal it's post wee as I don't dump until around 10.1 -

For years, i have gone to the loo, both #1 and #2 while the kettle is boiling for my first cup of coffee of the day, after which i weigh myself. On the odd occasion that i didn't "go" that morning i wouldn't bother weighing that day.
The last few months my bathroom habits have changed. Now i don't poop for hours after I've woken up, after which i have eaten and drunk, so my whole routine is messed up.
To those of you who weigh after "going to the bathroom", do you mean just peeing, or both? Is weighing with the previous days food still sitting inside you a valid weight number? Won't you weigh a couple pounds heavier before "getting rid of it" ?
As mentioned i have had the same routine for years, and the sudden change is bugging me! I guess i just prefer to be as empty as possible before stepping on the scale.
I've been in your situation. I just kept weighing daily after getting up and a wee. I noticed maybe a 100-200 gram average weight gain. Not a worry at all.
If you weigh in the same way daily no matter what, the highs and lows even out with respect to the poo, just like they do with your water weight fluctuations, and the more data the better.
My data obsession laments at all the data points you've lost these past few months!
You have no idea how those missing days are bugging the cr*p out of me
As of tomorrow morning I'm weighing first thing no matter what (or does not) happens
??????
If it's bugging the cr*p out of you, doesn't that solve the issue?16 -
I tend to find a solid night's sleep (like, 9-10 hours) has wayyyy more impact on my weight than a poop. If I sleep like a rock, I can almost always expect a loss5

The stigma about bodily functions needs to stop. It prevents quite a few people from going to their Drs and getting colorectal cancer and other intestinal disease screening. Colorectal cancer is very treatable is caught early.6

I kind of grew up in a home where is you had diarrhea or were constipated you told everyone. It wasn't uncommon to announce that you had to pee or poop as you headed to the bathroom. I am more discrete these days but not bothered talking about it.
It is after 11 AM and I have not pooped yet. I expect it will happen after lunch.

Not uncommon at all in my house to hear a general announcement of 'I must URINATE!' followed by a chorus of 'Good luck with that!' (Yes, I was blessed with boys. No squeamishness about bodily funcitons here.)2 -
Same, after I poop and if I don't, I won't bother weighing.
I really don't think we poop pounds though2 -
Morning pee. It's the only thing that's 100% consistent.3

According to those companies that sell colon cleansing products we all hang on to pounds of waste in our digestive system that we need to use their product to eliminate.3 -
My preferred method is wake, coffee, bathroom, weigh. But when something messes the rhythm I don't really see a difference. I've done the before and after check as well. Only a few ounces difference, which would run contrary to many people's opinions that I am full of *kitten*.4
-
i weigh myself after i wake up and pee in the am. i have weighed myself before and after a #2 and there was no scale difference, even when i thought there should have been. LOL strange i know.1
-
I will repeat.....I loose 0.6 pounds each and every time. So, that is roughly 10 ounces. It amazes me that it is the same every time. But, I am a 50yo male with some mass......LOL!2

Typically, I like to weigh in on a weekend morning, right after going to the bathroom (1 and/or 2) but before my shower and before drinking my first cup of tea for the day. Not only do I stand on the scale, but I measure my waistline. I try to do this only once a month "officially" but sometimes when I'm "feeling thin" I check my numbers. If they're good, I log them, if they're up, I don't, but I review what the heck I'm doing.0

every morning after a cup of coffee and # 2...

I'm probably a weirdo, but I use the logic that pounds will fluctuate 3lbs or so if you weigh yourself daily. I've weighed myself after #1,#2, before shower (naked), after shower (wet), clothed, pjs and sometimes at night. ... just to make myself depressed by the added 2lbs lol.
But with my kind of random, yet systematic method, I've found that I use an average 3 on and off again Weighing amounts each time I get on the scale. .. and then I reference what I've been seeing +/-2lbs.
It sucks when you are trying to lose that 1lb, but at the end of the week, you notice your averages aRe on the lower end...and then the next week your window shifts (if you've lost. ..or gained).
My goals therfore are little pounds yes, but mainly to get the max range to the Previous low range (I hope that makes sense lol).
Ie) I range 202-205 in a given week. However, when I lost, my range starTed to be 200-204, then 200-202, and then 198-202. A 198-202 range meant for me I'm probably around 200 in reality. ... but since the trend is down, and I'm working my butt off, that's all that really matters.
.... but I feel satisfaction when I take a dump and get a lower number XD ahahaha. Just for *kitten* and giggles ...bah dum Ch3 -
I have weighed myself in the mornings before and after the first pee and/or poop. Sometimes on the same morning- weigh before, go potty, weigh after. I've done this multiple times. There is never a consistent difference and not sure how, but sometimes I weigh more after going potty. I would just weigh after a potty trip and not worry about whether you pee or poop. It all averages out anyway, especially if you use Trendweight something like it.3

We are all adults. We are all talking about a very normal part of the digestive system.
We are ***NOT*** talking about "...the time I was out with the guys, ate way too much food, drank a little too much, woke up the next day and holy cow!...." That would be TMI.
The question is legit. We all assume way too much. So, she asked 'what exactly does that mean'? Totally legit question. If she is asking, then I am sure that others wonder "Does that mean this or that?". Now we all know.
Anyway, just my opinion. And experience. Yes, people, everyone poops! Get over it.
Did a whole bunch of comments get deleted or something? Coz I see one post saying its a disturbing topic and every other one is discussing poop regularity and weight. Like adults.6 -

I generally just pee, then weigh, then coffee and orange, then poo, then dress.
I have had the opportunity a couple of times to need the poo before the coffee, so yeah, I weighed myself then as well.
The outcome was about .2 of a lbs difference each time. It kind of amazed me that a poop weighed so little.
I really wouldn't worry about it.
Cheers, h.
I should add, these weren't little poops either.

This post is great ahaha.
Entertaining, but also interesting and insightful. Etc etc...2 -

To poo, or not to poo. That is the question.3
-
All that matters is that you do it at the same time every day, wearing about the same amount of clothes, having peed or not having peed- you need all variables to be the same to accurately track your weight patterns. I prefer first thing in the morning after a pee before consuming any liquids or solids wearing jammies. I also like to take a "fed" weight later in the day naked before my evening shower. It sounds obsessive but it actually helps me see how hydrated I am- after a long run, I will be several pounds lighter from sweating and I need to make sure I replace all the fluids.1

You're not the only one. It's sort of fun to watch the 3 pounds drop from running and then 1.5 lbs up along with rehydration and dinner1 -
Poop doesn't weigh much-I get up-pee- and weigh myself1
-
Try weighing yourself both pre- and post-poopal. Not sure that it would make much of a difference, I guess. Depending on how much you poop....
I have done this and been very disappointed. I was sure I lost a good 2 pounds and the scale didn't even register! How is that even possible? Haha1 -
Since daily fluctuations are completely unpredictable, I absolutely could care less what time of day I step on the scale, if I do at all in a given day or week. I have done the weigh after going and before taking in anything, I've weighed in the middle of day, halfway through my calorie intake (and weighed less than I did that morning BTW on a number of occasions), in the evening before bed. I enter the weight in Libra and move on.
Since my goal has morphed from weight loss to fat loss, I'm a lot less worried about what the scale says than what the mirror and the tape measures say.
That said, I understand the idea of trying to create the "same condition". But.....I also understand that there are so many variables at work that creating the "same condition" is not possible. I always end up back on the overall trend and mirrors and measurements. So the time of day has no bearing whatsoever....to me anyway.1 -

This would be disturbing for me. I go once a day and it is before I shower. There has been a rare time where I have gone after showering and I just don't feel right for the entire day.2 -

My theory on that is that methane is slightly lighter than air and dissolved methane can lower scale weight.1 -

So if you increase the dissolved methane in your system, you would lose weight? I know that can be taken as "snarky", but really not meant to be that. Just trying to understand this reasoning.1 -
For me - a volume eating vegetarian — I lighten my load by 2 to 3# after, you know.4
