Exactly how can they even call it corn. Why does the corn industry not sue for defamation of character.

Do you realize that candy corn is one of a whole class of candy called "mellocreme"? It also includes the peculiar squatty-shaped orange pumpkins with fat green stems, Valentine hearts, and some odd Christmas shapes. I think they contain carnauba wax (seriously).

I only know this because one of my rowing coaches was obsessed with mellocreme candy, malted milk balls, and slightly stale marshmallow Peeps.

One of those things your rowing coach was obsessed with is not like the others.

In that it is a perfectly palatable candy (which I can no longer eat). The other two? Blech.

rocky mountain oysters (google it if you must)

What's wrong with turducken? Slight poultry overload perhaps...

    Needs bacon.

And up here we call them prairie oysters. A by-product of the steering process. Nope. Not gonna try them.

    Wine > candy corn

    Fair point well made.

Fruitcake? Well, if you are what you eat....

Salted licorice? Never heard of that. You take a nice cherry Red Vine, and somebody went "This needs sodium" WTF is that?

Like all things, Spam (in moderation) is okay. Cubed and mixed with scrambled eggs is better than ham, IMHO.

3 Musketeers? Only candy that gives me instant diarrhea.........just horrible

    Licorice in CHOCOLATE?

That's an abomination. I'm sitting here feeling truly offended on chocolate's behalf. What did it ever do to deserve such treatment?

Why is carrot cake a thing? Why in the world did someone look at cake and say to themselves, "This needs a vegetable"?

Because you need a means to shovel in cream cheese icing. And I love me some Swiss Cake Rolls.

I love European licorice - but I can see how it is an acquired taste. FWIW, it isn’t flavored with table salt, it’s Ammonium Chloride a/k/a Sal Ammoniac. It has its own unique flavor, and European licorices aren’t always even prominently flavored with anise extract, the flavor most Americans think of as “licorice flavor”. Licorice root per se, to my palate, is pretty flavorless, sweetish with just a little overtone of Earthy mustiness. More medicinal than culinary.

When I was a child, 1970s, licorice ice cream was available in the US, particularly around Halloween, and that was a personal favorite, too. I haven’t seen it in at least 30 years.

*raises hand* I'm keeping 3 Musketeers and Circus Peanuts on the shelves, single-handedly.

3 Musketeers are alright, but holy crap I forgot about Circus Peanuts and their terribleness.

it's called candy corn because it looks like kernels of corn.

I loathe licorice. The only thing remotely licorice flavored I can handle are anise flavored pizelles, and I haven't had them in years since I was diagnosed with celiac disease. And I think I used to like them more for the nostalgia factor than the actual taste. My grandmother made really good pizelles.

Wax candy bottles. And Thrills gum. Oh and rum-raisin ice cream. (I'm not normally big on rum, though I do like it with cinnamon in a sauce for cooked fruit. The raisins just make it worse, though.)
