Heather, congratulations! So pleased for you after last year's trauma with things falling through. You'll so love being in an area with all the shops and wonderful things, and it looks quite inviting.

Good morning!
So we viewed our first "accessible" apartment this morning ... in a senior community as they accept any age if a disability is present. The apartment was ok, but will be too small (800 sq ft) for two wheelchair users. It was newly carpeted, which most of us would consider a plus, but we would have to resurface as my son's roommate uses a manual chair and would never be able to maneuver his chair on carpet. Bathroom was doable but also small. All in all, it was a start. We'll keep it as an option, but it would be a pretty big step down from his current location. We looked at the senior building as there are already safety measures in place due to the ages of the general population, but I suspect these two guys are going to want something a little more contemporary.

I hear you about wheelchairs and carpet!! WHY??? I live in a great 2 bdrm apartment that is wheelchair friendly but it would be too small for 2 chairs. Only the bathrooms are not exactly wheelchair friendly which is okay for me since I can take 2 hops from the door to the toilet and shower....plus usually in the bedroom, I am on my crutches.3 -
Drive by posting for now. So very excited, despite some not so great and even bad choices a few times in the past week, I managed to lose a pound! The frustration starts when I think what could have happened had I actually stuck to the plan those days..... Oh well, a pound is a pound and I will take it! Definitely motivates me to get back on track!

Barbara, Carol, Kylia, Katla - Thanks for your kind words and support.
Penny - You work so hard. I'm sure you will enjoy those grandkids. You definitely deserve some down time.
Barbie - I am glad you are so good at setting clear boundaries. I have a lot to learn.
Terry - Jheri is a strong advocate for me and has been since she was just 17. I'm going to take credit for raising an amazing woman. Thanks for the quote. I love it.
Heather - OOH! Exciting News! I would be jumping out of my skin. The house looks lovely. How close to the beach?
I need to listen to your DDIL's talk and now I should have a little extra time.
Allie - I am glad things are finally coming together for you. The Allie Oasis will be much used by you and your friends I am sure.
Katla - Hope you feel better soon. I'm sure Arrow misses you.
Rori - Happy Retirement Day! I am sure they will miss you as it sounds as if you were a driving force in the organization. Have a great get away. I only hear great things about you.
No alarm for me this morning. It was nice although I've always got up before it sounds. This morning I was awake at 4, 5, 6 and gave up on the whole sleeping in thing by 7. I am however still in pjs, having enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, on my 2nd cup of coffee and talking to you lovely ladies.
I have a meeting with my manager and director at noonish. Taking in my note and doing what is necessary for my benefits to pay me until I can kick it into Medical EI and then on to AISH or disability. I am a ball of emotion and have already cried. I better take tissue along.
Anxiously awaiting Jheri's call to see which paintings are going to be featured. Looking forward to Saturday night when her art will be on public display.
Time to get dressed and get going. I do have to take Harmony to dance this afternoon. Not sure why as the day is warm and sunny and I'm sure that Kim could figure it out if she wanted to. I'm going to tell my son that they have to give me some gas $$$ as I drove them 3-4 x week and I may be short in the money department until this is all figured out.

KarenNY: Proud of you for losing a pound while on a holiday. Best of luck with the remainder of your orchestra season.
Lisa: Has it been a year already??? So glad you are enjoying your job. They are lucky to have you.
SueinWA: Adorable puppy.
Machka: I'm just in awe at how much distance you cover on your rides. Thanks for the photo tour.
Pip: Floor exercises...totally with you there. Hate 'em. But I might be asking you to raise your boot in my direction and get me back in the gym.
Heather: DIL is brilliant! I'm sending good thoughts across the pond for some real estate luck to come your way.
My two magical months of living in countdown mode are about to end. ONE. MORE. DAY. My retirement is going to be a surprise to most of my associates around the country. It's my choice to make a quiet exit. My team wants me to come back to NYC in March for a face to face sendoff. No way! No parties, no gifts, no cards, please. Biggest honor would be for them to support our council in Puerto Rico, which is in a world of hurt because they had to cancel their cookie sale this year. It's a disastrous hit to their finances. Hope they hear me.
I have lined up people to move out my home office furniture and a local handyman will be here in 2 weeks to paint the space which I am redecorating as my Zen den. While painting is happening, DH and I will probably take the train to Glenwood Springs, on the western slope of the Rockies, and spend a couple days soaking in the mineral springs and just being in the mountains. Looking forward, feeling positive. Happy dance music is queued up and ready to blast in about 20 hours.
Stay well friends. We can do this.

Oooh I want a zen den too! Love how that sounds!

I am hot on your heels, trying to retire from at least my office job...but the light at the end of the tunnel is still far too distant, looking more like end of June rather than end of March, which had seemed a likely scenario. DH said he will be talking to head office on Monday so I guess it will be clarified then, I hope. It has all been very vague and ambiguous with lots of if this if that and wait and sees. Meanwhile, we are running out of money before payday which isn't fun and means juggling and stress. But at least there is a light, winking away in the distance.
Kylia, well done on getting your steps in. Who needs carpet anyway?
I'm kind of excited because my youngest daughter has set up a movie room for me upstairs with her xbox and a Netflix account. Now I am going to start catching up on all the movies and shows that I have missed over the years mainly because my hubby is hard wired to the tv remote at night, which is the only time I sit still long enough to watch a movie. And he watches Pickers and car auction and repossessing shows, and cooking shows that bore me to tears. Finally, I get to choose what's on the box. LOL. And it's just like going on the plane, with all sorts of choices and categories to choose from. Does anybody have any favourite movies or shows they can recommend to me? I plan to get a step machine or something to put in my movie room so I can do like Barbara and burn while I get my shows in. I want a machine that is quiet so I can hear my show without too much problem.

My favorite movies are,:
- Eat, Pray,Love w/ Julia Roberts
-Under The Tuscan Sun w/ Diane Lane
-The Holiday w/ Jude Law

YESTERDAY saw my 2 Specialists (oncologist and liver). Blood work for the Oncologist was GREAT! Blood work for my liver guy - was not great. I am fighting a fatty liver. 4 years of too many medications, stress and lack of good exercise has caused this. I am currently 200lbs and the goal weight is 155lbs. This winter has been really bad for me. Socket issues kept me from cross country skiing and snow shoeing the distances that I would normally do. I suffer from SAD and the woman who is co-renting in my apartment has been without a salary for 3 months, which has put a huge financial burden on me. She is getting money now but that is still 3 months worth of rent, food and personal supplies that I have paid for. Money that I could of used to my Essential Oil business.....then there is the burden of my pending medical discharge. Not exactly what I need right now.
The lecture was: you need to drop 15lbs by the end of September. If the blood work comes back the same then we have to do a liver biopsy. I am NOT going to do this biopsy if all that needs to be done is WEIGHT LOSS!! I am DONE with medical procedures.
I got out of bed this morning and hit the pool. I only did 1000m but it was 1000m in 45 minutes.
I will admit that I am jealous of the husband. He has over 200km of skiing in this winter. 100km of snow shoeing. He is very supportive but I have been frustrated and sad. Being slightly depressed doesn't help when you also suffer from S.A.D - and this month is always the hardest, even with the added Vitamin D!!
I can't wait for the snow and ice to be gone! I will be getting my wheels out and hand biking and wheeling about in my wheelchair!
RESEARCHING foods for a fatty liver! So far it looks like lots' of FISH, green tea, dark berries, and dark green veggies. NO white rice, white bread, sugar and salt. Red meat in small doses (like 4oz a week!)7 -
Hi Ladies,
Day 2 of my Slimfast diet. Not too bad. It takes care of my chocolate craving and is filling. I just want to see if I can get rid of a few pounds using it.
Heather- Love the house. I always say you can't judge a book by its cover. If you just went by the outside, you might miss a real gem. Glad you found something you like.
Dana and Sunkist- I'm so sorry about your moms. I lost my mother to a stroke 3 years ago and I feel that it was also negligence on the part of the hospital and nursing home. They didn't want to bother with her, so they let her die. She was 92. I'm the youngest so I had no say in her care. I still haven't gotten over it. I don't think I ever will. Not only the fact that she died, but the fact that my older siblings kept things from me. Well enough of that.
Have a great day.

Katla, feel better neighbor!!!
Heather, Doing a happy dance for you!! How wonderful! Such a forward momentum in your life right now! Its kind of infectious! Love it!
Allie, sounds like things are working out, awesome! And an outside zen den to boot! My word of the day is "zen den"!
Sharon, glad you had your daughter there to support you!
Good day today for me. Up at 6:50am, acquired my first bead! Hazzah! Laundromat was boring, but my husband read the paper and we chatted about the latest going ons. I did my crossword and Sudoku puzzles.
This weeks goals are:
-log my food
-exercise nightly, (floor exercises, and stretching holding onto a chair). Doing the same things I did in aqua aerobics class.
-read nightly
The exercising and reading will calm and tire my body out for sleep. Plus I am doing 5 minutes of mindful breathing/meditate. That was actually fun!
Yesterday my dear husband bought 4 TV dinners, realising that I will be concentrating on my eating. At least being mindful of it. He knows I kind of go into game mode! I know I have to find that happy medium, but honestly, him and I eat so differently. I fix him good food, don't get me wrong, but our tastes are so different.
People state my eldest son looks more like me than husband, but I think all my sons are clones of my husband. I wish my son would find a girlfriend! He's my gentle giant, tall handsome! (Singing "matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match, find me a fiiiind, catch me a caaaatch")....

thanks I will put those on my list. I've read part of the Eat Pray book but I haven't seen the movie.
Terry, thanks I will put Versailles on my list. Looks sizzling and has horses. Tick.
Heather, I have decided to take a virtual trip to Hove for a look around your new neighbourhood. I feel almost like I am moving too, LOL. I love change. So exciting. So many new things to see and experience.
I've just come in from a 30 minute run with Jock. Will be a long day at the office today with Accounts. My new diet, even though I haven't been perfect in adhering, has already reaped a 2lb drop and I ate quite a lot of food yesterday, so will keep plugging away with diet, running and weights.
Hi Penny, you sound way overworked. You need to watch Jessamy's Tedx talk. LOL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZzyMF6bPgM
Kerri, there's nothing like a trip to the doctor to inspire renewed efforts. Good on you for the swim. You will have to hit the gym and do your upper body workout too. Get Pip to give ya a kick.

Hey Becky, Becca here! Heehee! My son used to drink the Carnation Instant Breakfast shakes. We had to keep tabs on him, cuz he was a tall skinny one! Anyway I could get extra food in that kid! I have tried Slimfast, when my sons were younger and I felt like I was on the go all the time. They're really convenient. :-)
This morning I had a Van's waffle, a T. of peanut butter, sliced a 1/2 banana, a tsp. of honey and voilà heaven! I tried to eat it like toast, buuut told my DH to get me a fork!

Sharon - The promenade and the sea is at the end of our road. Probably 200 yards. You can see the sea from our front garden. The light is incredible.
100 yards away in the opposite direction is the parade of artisan shops. A short walk away is a fish retail/wholesale market with its own boats.
We are still crossing our fingers because anything could happen to break the chain. We just are hoping now that our vendors can find the right property for themselves. They want a "doer upper", which is what they did with this property, adding hundreds of thousands to the value, with a complete remodel and a loft extension.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx9 -

Heather- Congrats on the house! It looks fantastic and I know you will enjoy living there! So close to everything! And as far as price is concerned, we all know it's all about LOCATION! My home is a fifty year old 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath ranch style home. In most cities in the U.S. it would probably cost between $90k and $120k; but because it is a five minute walk to the beach...we paid almost double that 15 years ago, and it now appraises about $30k more than what we paid. We haven't made any improvements beyond keeping it up. It is all about location.
Rori- Congrats on retirement!
Lisa-GREAT blog post this morning!
Beth- Hope you find something that will work for your son and his room mate! P.S. DH is still in the "smack zone". He had his colonoscopy this morning. I wish they would have kept him there all day. Geez! Or at least fed him before they sent him home! What a pill!
Wendy- Favorite movies?!? There are SO many I love; but what I watch depends on what mood I am in or what I am doing while watching. Like working out while watching? Sounds weird, but I love to watch the "kick-butt women movies" when I am on the treadmill or in a feisty mood. Lara Croft Tomb Raider, the Underworld movies or the Resident Evil movies. G.I. Jane is pretty good for getting me psyched up, too.
Well, a little more sun today in my corner of the world. Yea! Got the kids out, again, today; so they conked out right after lunch. Actually had one little guy ask me for his nap! They are beginning to stir, now, so I better skedaddle! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)8 -
Heather, I love the house. Looks inviting and homey. Also, congratulations on graduating! Well done girl!
Just about to go in and talk to dr again about my foot. Fingers crossed I get some help. This is his last chance. No help, no dr. I’ll find someone else. Tired of this pain. I’ll keep you posted.
We are going to meet DD for dinner before her class.

Happy National Tooth Fairy Day!
"In the mid-1920s fairies were used for all sorts of health education from bath fairies to fresh air fairies as a way to get kids to remember to eat their vegetables, wash behind their ears and get a good night’s rest. ... Then in 1927, Esther Watkins Arnold printed an eight-page playlet for children called The Tooth Fairy. It was the same year Sir Arthur Conan Doyle “proved” his claim that fairies and gnomes are real and “verified” with pictures of two little girls surrounded by fairies. The world was ripe with imagination and primed to have a tooth fairy about to come collect the lost teeth of little boys and girls and leave a coin or two behind."
Sharon - So sorry about your disability, but I'm glad you'll have what you need to move forward with a disability claim.
Heather - Such great news! I'll do a happy dance for you once everything is signed, sealed, and delivered!
Rye - Oh, no, what a bummer about your refrigerator quandary! Hope you find a good solution soon.
Good grief, nearly March already. I do pretty well with tracking and exercise when I'm home. Every time I go somewhere for the weekend, things get out of whack. It takes me forever to get recombobulated and back into my routine. I have numerous weekend trips upcoming, so I'd better figure out a way to keep my bearings!
Looks like we will have to file with the probate court after all. The law doesn't require it, but the banks won't sign off on anything without letters testamentary (which I can only get by going before the court). Since when is a will not a legal document?! Anyhow, it's just another hoop we have to jump through with Dad's estate. It's not a huge deal, just a hassle because I have to get a lawyer to file, and then I have to take off from work so I can go to Houston on a weekday for the court date.
Things have just been so busy, and since I was gone over the weekend I haven't done meal planning and shopping for this week yet. Really need to do that, and maybe plan some meals Philip can help with because I have absolutely, positively got to get the tax papers ready for the accountant this week and that means catching up on my filing first. I desperately need a file clerk.

Becca- I used to have Slimfast when my DD was little. I didn't like them then. They were too thick and grainy. They've changed the formula and I really like them now. Plus they're uber easy to make.4
