Okay , so I made it to page 80.
Hoping these still make sense to all of you. Here goes
Lisa - Congratulations on your weight loss. I'm glad that your time away recharged your batteries.
Keep repeating that Serenity prayer as many times as it takes.
Allie - thanks for the update on Gloria's family. I hope everything falls into place for you soon. You are one strong woman.
Dana - It sounds like your DD is in a horrible situation. Don't make a move without a cell phone handy and 9-1-1 on speed dial.
Great photo of DD#3 and the grandkids.
Heather - Congratulations on your win, your offer and your GPS watch. Now on to the adventure of finding your new home.
Pstegman and others - Thanks for the suggestion of Yak Traxx. I have tried them but my ankle protests too much.
KJ - Joaquin is one sweet little Valentine. Hardly seems possible that he will be one very soon.
Marcelyn - The photos from the grandkid shoot are wonderful.
Katla - I hope your DD figures it out. It is so hard to stay out of our children's "STUFF".
Janetr - Your eggs are elegant.
drkatiebug - It must be so hard for your Mom to lose 2 brothers in such a short time.
I am glad that your surgery went well.
Rita - I'm glad your DH surgery went well.
Praying for your brother.
On the subject of Mothers. I miss mine so bad. I still find my hand reaching for the phone to share an experience with her. We had much in common but our disagreements could reach epic proportions. I loved visiting with her, playing games, shopping, going to plays, etc. She was a nice person who always tried to find the good in every person and situation. She could at times be a little bit too honest. I loved her and admired her. Now I miss her. I miss my Dad also but not in the same way.
I haven't weighed myself in a very long time but I am going to the doc on Tuesday and will have it done then.
It's been suggested that I try to go out on AISH. It has also been suggested that I need to look at going back on WCB (Ugh....can't imagine dealing with them again). I am going to try to get the Doc to help me get Medical EI.
The pain at work has been such that I can hardly concentrate. Not even sure how I have been civil. Larry and Jheri came and got me from work on Friday. The CBD oil, gabapentin and heating bag helped somewhat. See the Doctor on Tuesday and see which direction I will pursue. Worst case scenario is I tough it out for one more bloody year. I feel a fraud some days at work (like today) when I get the bare minimum accomplished. A friend reminded me that is all some people ever do.
The girls did a great little performance at St. Therese Villa the other night. Good practice for them and good entertainment for the residents. Jason left after Harmony performed to go to his meeting. She didn't like that - Why I have to ask?
My living room wall is missing a flower and soon my bedroom will be. I wonder if I will get offered an art piece to put up in their place.

Home again!
We've been on the mainland for the past 9 days and it was lovely. We actually had some summer!! And as I mentioned earlier, we got a lot of cycling in.
It was a much-needed break. Both of us have been so busy ... it was nice to just have one thing to do each day: cycle. Also it is so good to get off the island every so often.
But I am tired now, and I am looking forward to being back in my own bed tonight.
Then tomorrow, I start university again. I have a lecture in the morning, and of course, work in the afternoon and for the rest of the week.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all,
Yesterday was looking like just a day to stay home and cocoon, but I woke up cranky, having been sweating in my sleep, woke up far too early, and just buried myself in a spreadsheet reconciliation for work until I finished it. Wasn't helpful for the crankiness, but will help make Monday a heck of a lot less stressful!
My husband, who is more sensitive to my occasional moods than I give him credit for, said "let's go for a drive," so we did. Drove all the way down to Myrtle Beach and walked the sunny sands for a little while. And got a LOT of talking in, which I needed just as much.
Came back in a much more settled mood... and went and traded in the big Chrysler 300 with the Hemi V8 engine that we bought for my West Texas driving for a GMC Terrain. It's what they term an "affordable compact SUV" that is much better suited to our next life, as well as the current one. It's a pretty little thing, and we traded up in years, from a 2007 to a 2013. While it has more mileage than the Chrysler, we own a 2007 GMC Sierra that my husband drives, and it's got 260,000 miles on it and still going strong. We like GMCs. It should get much better gas mileage, too.
Sort of the ultimate in retail therapy, don't you think? We got a good trade-in, and paid cash from the warehouse money for the rest, and well worth it. My husband plans to go to work once we get to Arkansas, and is massively employable, so we'll be able to put it back into the dream fund fairly quickly, one hopes. More than anything, it felt like the next reasonable step to our next life. And like we were making a step, even more important for me right now. I am honestly impatient as a child when it comes to time.
Also helped to have lost that 1/3 of a pound this morning that keeps me on track. Here's to a lovely, vaguely peaceful Sunday for us all.
Love, Lisa in NC (for 48 more days. )

Good morning all! Happy Sunday! Fasting day for me, today. Paperwork, too. I spent yesterday "doing". My house is clean, my errands run, my food is prepped for the week. I baked a half a ham, made bean soup, and scalloped potatoes and portioned some of each into containers for my inlaws. Hoping when DH wakes up, he will make the "visit". I will do it if he can't; but I'd really like the day to finish my paperwork and maybe get ahead on some of it. Some one asked how my MIL is doing; she is home now and being cared for by her husband. They had home care help scheduled for four hours each day. Some one would come in and help MIL shower and get ready for the day, walk with her, get her to exercise (sometimes). But because she has been declared mentally competent by the mental health professionals, she makes her decisions about where she goes and what she does or doesn't do. SO...she fired her home health care professionals. Since then, she just wakes up and sits. Her physical and mental health declines daily, due to the inactivity. So hard to watch. She can always come up with the answers to the questions the mental health professionals ask; but forgets or fails to retain other important things. Sad to watch. Also sad to see what it is doing to her husband. He is tired and stressed. Ah well, this is why we try to get over there a couple of times a week and bring them food. Not so much for her; but for him. He generally stays for our Sunday visit, but when DH visits on Wednesday, he tries to get step father to go to his woodcarving class or just get out of the house for a while.
Susan- (I think it was Susan) new and 47 and beginning menopause? I joined this group at 49, because I had come to the same conclusion as you. At that time I was nearing the end of menopause and was frustrated at how difficult it was to lose weight. It doesn't come off as fast or as easy. A couple of months before I turned 49, I won a 12 week session at our local Fit Body Bootcamp. They made a high protein (low carb, low fat) meal plan for me to follow and I had to promise to show up to workout at least three days a week (work outs were a half hour-high intensity). In 9 weeks I lost a total of 19 pounds; but then my younger sister was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Needless to say, I went into stress mode and ate back the weight (and then some). These ladies helped me through that time. Made me mentally strong. It has been a year since sister has passed away and I am finally back to a place where I can focus on me and the weight is coming off again by following the same high protein (low carb, low fat) meal plan. I think you have to find what works for you and run with it. Welcome and come often!
Lisa- Hooray for getting ahead on paperwork! Hooray for Corey knowing how to pull you out of your funk! And WOW! I have heard of women going shopping to relieve stress, but shopping for cars?! Lucky girl! Congrats on the loss!
Machka-I think of that feeling often when I am away from home. Always sad that I am going back home; but my own bed and surroundings is always very nice to come home to! (cue Dorothy and the ruby slippers)
Well, going to sign off and get busy with things, just in case I have to make the visit. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Just completed day 5 of week 2 of KB Workout but realise that I will be going to Spain for a week at the end of the 4th week booo There is a gym at hotel but don't know if they have KBs suppose I could use dumbells or one of those huge bottles of water, any advice Mary. Anyway will start again when I get back
Loving pics of grands and furbies
Not really losing any weight just gaining a couple, losing a couple so still near maintenance but would love to lose another few pounds but not gonna happen unless I stay home, don't socialise, don't food shop and stop DH buying chocolate biscuits and marmalade.
Need to shower and change to go out and Sunday socialise, well what can you do, you got to live life and enjoy it. Have a great Sunday all

Good Morning Friends,
I need to get back on track with my sleeping habits. I am falling asleep while watching T.V. as early as 7:00.
I have started to read a book called Childhood Disrupted by Donna Jackson Nakazawa. I am skipping the stories of seveve trauma people have suffered and went straight to methods and therapies that are being used today. One complaint of the book is she she is rehashing work by others. I apprecite she is putting those techniques out there. It caught my eye as as educator because the class I was working in the past few days had some traumatic incidents happen. One classmate tried to choke another at recess. This same classmate had a major scene with his caregiver in front of the class. She tried to bring him into the classroom while he was having a major tandrum. She was threatening to call 911 in front of his classmates. I would not allow her to bring him in when he was in that state. This was in a third grade classroom.
Hence this is one of the reasons I bought myself those dozen roses.
The book does offer some helpful ideas to heal trauma.
I did not read the stories about trauma because stories of trauma surround us. I am ready for the now what and how as an educator what is my role to help create a safe place for students to learn.
Barbie you would appreciate her discussion on mindfulness techniques and there place in healing.

I've loaded photos from the first couple days of our cycling tour.
We flew over to Melbourne on Friday 16th, and then drove up to Bendigo on the Saturday for our 200 km audax cycling event which was held on the Sunday. Monday we wandered around Bendigo a little bit and then drove to Melbourne and dropped off our rental car. From then on, we were carfree! That evening, we wandered around Melbourne a little bit.
On Tuesday 20 February, we started our tour. First, we caught the train out to the start of the Great Victorian Rail Trail.
When we got there, we started riding. It was a hot sunny day, so about halfway along, we stopped for a bit of a break.
Feel free to click the photos for more ... there are quite a few more. I have labelled/commented on most/all of them.
Tomorrow, I'll post more photos from the remaining 3 days but now I have watched the closing ceremony, it is just after midnight, and I must get to bed!!

kJ- I was thinking of Joaquin last night. Do you remember when we met and Cathy was holding him and I started tapping on the table with my fingernails? It was impressive that after a couple of times he began to tap back. He is really aware of what’s happening around him. Don’t know why I thought of that, maybe because you were talking about his development.
Didn’t sleep well but still need to get ready for Sunday School and Church. Have a great day Pals.

Did a yoga Burn DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to go to the back of the clubhouse and do most of a 30 Minutes to fitness DVD. Then drive
Started putting things in the car, some of my water bottles, my coats. Cleaning day
Barbara - yes, I am sad that I'll be leaving FL. But I did mention to Vince that it was nice to have such an extended stay, that I'd like to do it again next year. We can leave after the Newcomer Board meeting in January and again get back before the February board meeting.
Went and got the paper. Looked for soda that Lynette likes but they've discontinued it
Lisa - congrats on the trade! May you have many wonderful years
Margaret - that is terrible about those kids! Good for you buying roses and not donuts, which is what I probably would have done.
Well, guess I should at least look at the paper and then start cleaning. Being so early in the day, I can't run the vacuum but I can start by putting the clothes in the wash and clean the mirrors and tabletops.

Becca, I hate vacuuming because when I was growing up, my vacuuming was never good enough to suit my mother. Recently I began running the vacuum again because Jake's back pain was making the job too hard for him. Now he watches me and comments about something I missed. I am probably not very careful or thorough but my attitude is that doing something is better than doing nothing.
Joyce, I recorded the figure skating gala but probably won't watch it until Tuesday when Jake goes to the movies by himself.
Margaret, thanks for the book recommendation

Didn't gain or lose on our trip to Rome for 2 reasons, 1) we walked, walked, walked! and 2) ate a big lunch and very tiny dinner, we didn't go there for the food (I know we're weird) and spent our budget on seeing sights, tours and the like. I did eat gelatto right by the Trevi fountain though and I had fun buying Italian treats for friends and neighbors Eventhough I was anxious about going, was airsick on the plane and am now jetlagged, it was a privilege to go on the trip. Our DD is going abroad to South Africa this July and we hope to be able to be in good shape physically and financially to travel there for 2 weeks. We're starting the research now, of course, we have to get her there first and then we'll see if we can swing it. She's growing up so fast and we're not getting any younger so carpe diem

Done my run! :drinker: My legs were a bit tired at the start, but it's amazing how reviving it is when you get onto the home strait and a voice in your ear says, "Only five minutes to go! You've done FANTASTIC!" Considering I hardly slept last night.
Plus I did some editing this morning.
I will go to Hove tomorrow with a clear conscience as we will have time to do our normal exercise session before we leave. Then there will be quite a bit of walking about from house to house. I'm just a bit nervous about the possibility of snow.
Still enjoying my running books. I'm on about my seventh now.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx8 -
Kate- if they have a gym I would use the dumbbells as a kettle bell if they don't have any. Otherwise if you are unable to do the work out what happens to me as I usually do a slight deload of either less swings or weight and work myself up to the place that I handed in the program. Which for you would be the fourth week. So for example start at 16 sets of seven swings which is week three of the program. If you need more information let me know! I hope you have a fantastic vacation!

Susan in E Tennessee: Welcome you sweet young thing! Losing excess pounds quickly is actually not a good thing for your health and wellbeing. The MFP system is slow and steady as you lose in a healthy way and learn how to manage your eating for long term stability. CICO = calories in vs calories out. It works. I burn calories taking yoga classes, riding stationary bikes at the gym, and horseback riding. We have walkers, bicyclists, swimmers & dancers among us, too. We even have some dedicated weight trainers. If you enjoy your exercise and make it a part of your regular routine, you are more likely to do it. Best advice: Stop by here often for support, exercise regularly, and count calories.
Becca: It sounds like you got some great things at the food bank. Good for you!
Janet: Mia is a cute little one. You can't have too many pictures like that. What a joy!
Allie: We have always loved the Anne of Green Gables series with Megan Fellows, too. I have the whole thing on tape, but unfortunately don't have a tape player anymore. :grumble:
Heather: Happy house hunting! I hope you and your DH are able to find a place with enough space, good light, and in a good neighborhood. A pleasant view would be nice, too.
Barbara the Southern Oregon Coastie: Your dog group sounds wonderful.
(((Sharon))): Sending hugs your way. You seem to have a workable plan & I hope your health improves. I can only imagine living with chronic pain & I hope you're able to get it resolved in the near future. :flowerforyou:
Margaret: You were absolutely right to not allow the out of control child into your classroom. The caregiver needs training! (Or replacing. I can't believe her or his poor judgment.) :grumble: Good for you, getting flowers to help cheer yourself up after that. :flowerforyou:
Machka in OZ: I love your photos, and summertime!!!!
Lisa: I like the description of your new car, too. It sounds like it is just right.
I set my equipment to record Olympics and discovered that it had gone berserk and filled my recorder to the top, crowding out my regular programs. :grumble: I deleted all of the Olympics. I'm not quite sure how I managed to fill every bit of space, and glad I was able to resurrect my program list. Winter sports are not my area of interest. I really enjoyed the summer Olympics in Rio--horses, sailboats, swimmers, runners and cyclists all do things that I can do, myself, but at much lower level of skill. That makes them much more interesting to me.

Barbie from beautiful NW Washington, I am quite relieved that vacuum haters are here too! It's the process, that I normally have to clean it out before I start! This involves removing the can, then the inner filter. I sometimes just wack it on the side of the trash metal bin out in the parking lot. Yesterday I was more considerate, and used a paper sack, and an old tooth brush! My husband said, "why don't you clean it when you're done"? Ummmm. What strange sorcery thinking is THAT?? Haha!
Have a great day ladies! I shall turn on the vacuum, and do the rest of the apartment. Hoping to hear from eldest son, middle son, and youngest one too! Hoping for a lot huh!!!? Just check in with yer Momma, come on!!!

Carol.....Carol....see I'm a cleaner, and its a sock puppet!!!! Also the phrase "wringing your hands", takes on a whole real meaning! My husband came in as I was doing that, and he just shakes his head! Hey, when else can I just touch items, walls, and baseboards, and it has purpose! If I could I would (be knocking on your door with a muffled padded rap).
Hugs friend!!

Sharon - I always enjoy hearing what you are up to - activities with grandkids and relatives, what's new in your world.
Heather - I hope the weatherman improves your forecast. I am so excited for you viewing houses! Plus you'll get to see your "terror" grands, lol. They'll be tickled to see you and your DH.
I am miffed with myself for procrastinating getting my car in for the 90,000 mile service - I should have done it a couple months ago. I had an appointment last week but cancelled because of snow. It's now set for this Wednesday which looks like just rain. I'll plan to leave it there all day so DH will get to play taxi.
KJ - your MIL firing her home health care aids and now her deteriorating state brought back memories. After my mom broke her hip, she had surgery and went to rehab and they had her walking pretty well. They released her, and had a physical therapist lined up to work with her rehab at home. My dad observed that when the PT was having her do her exercises, Mom would whimper. So Dad raised a ruckus and told the therapist he was hurting Mom and he cancelled further visits. Like your MIL, Mom just sat and quickly lost the strength and mobility she had gained.
Lisa - your new car (SUV) sounds great! Glad you and Corey took a break and got some time together. 48 days will go fast!
Machka - that sun looks great - sounds like you had a good break! Back to the grindstone. Now that the Cherries are done, will your DH oversee a different crop like peaches? Apples?
Margaret - I can see why you bought yourself roses. I've been thinking about you a lot lately and wondering about your sleep.
I was up at 1:30 am this morning with a sinus headache. Took an Excedrin and drank 2 cups of strong coffee. Yesterday was up at around 3 am with the same thing. I have a hunch it's because I've been eating things after supper that I shouldn't - dairy, wheat.
So even with naps I'm kinda pooped. Glad it's Sunday.
Have a good Sunday!

Ooh look at this home in Coupeville, WA!!! It only has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, but full basement, shop (for son), and lots of storage downstairs! The sun room looks nice, as well as the den, (we would make it into a library, with our bookshelves in the places the walls are. Thinking that lower bookshelves could go under the windows as well.

Lisa, you really do have a gem in Corey! Good for you for trading in your vehicle, sounds like you made a good deal for a vehicle that will better suit your needs.
Heather, hope the weather cooperates with your plans! Excellent idea taking the "picnic" lunch with you for the day, sure saves on time!
Margaret, how awful to have a child having a meltdown and the caregiver threatening to call 911! That caregiver needs some serious training. Congrats on buying roses as comfort! I think I'd have gone for cinnamon buns.....
Becca, that sock idea sounds really good. I might have to give that a try.... I don't mind vacuuming, I'm not a duster tho! I will vacuum the furniture when it gets bad enough, and every once in awhile I'll dig out a little swiffer, but dusting is not my thing! I think it's because when I was a pre-teen my mom had to go to work so I got to do the chores on the weekend and mom was very picky about how things were cleaned. Everything had to be lifted and moved and then dusted under and she had a lot of doilies etc. So, you would think that I wouldn't bother with doilies, but no, I have a houseful. In my defense, I made most of them so want to display them. I'm okay once I get going with housecleaning, its just getting me going that can be a challenge! lol
I still miss my mom too. She's been gone 7 years now and I still find myself thinking that I need to remember something that happened so that I could tell her as she'd get a kick out of it, or she's understand without me having to go into long explanations. I miss my dad too, he's been gone four years, but while mom went quickly, dad was on a decline for about a year, so it was kind of a blessing when he went.
Rained here last night and was still raining when I was driving to work, so lot is just wet, not icy - YAY! And now the sun is out! Supposed to have a high of 8 today, looking forward to that!
Eating has been reasonable the last few days, so pleased with that. Also, getting some extra walking in with the salt spreading and then sweeping, I don't count any of that time as exercise as I don't want to over estimate the calorie burn and then eat that non-existent "cushion", so hopefully the scale will be kind. Really need to dial it back on the salt tho, it doesn't seem like I'm eating much, but my rings are tight enough for me to know that water retention is happening. Oh well, just have to up my water intake! I haven't been drinking my hot water with lemon lately, should start again as that really does flush my system.
Anyway, it will all work out eventually. Must go, have a good one, ladies!

Hi Sisters, my visit to the grandies was fabulous-just what I needed to get myself charged up again. Had an exciting incident while I was babysitting. Heard sirens and shouts and I went to the front gate to see if there was a fire at the neighbour's house as I could hear a fire engine close by. Just in front of our gate a police woman was handcuffing a man on the ground! I could see police cars everywhere and a fire engine... I thought maybe there had been a drug raid on the house, with people possibly about to run into my daughter's backyard where my grandchildren were playing. I sprinted back to them and brought them inside and locked all the doors. Watched out the window for awhile to try to see what was happening. Eventually found out that the police had been in ahigh speed chase after a stolen car which crashed into another car and started a fire at the end of my daughter's road, three houses down from us, and the offenders had run down the road but one was caught right in front of her house. The road was cordoned off for ages and an amubulance came for the others in the car crash. By the time my daughter and her hubby got back from their run and lunch, all was back to normal !
My daughter lives in a beautiful part of the country with numerous trails for hiking, biking and running. I did five hours of running/hiking yesterday. Borrowed her collie dog Lucy and ran along the Hutt River Trail then in the afternoon, my daughter and I climbed a beautiful trail following a stream with lots of waterfalls up to Birchville Dam Trig. Also got to watch the finals of the ice skating. Took the grandies to a carnival and fair Sat afternoon. Had a great time. Awesome. Hubby was So Glad to see me when I got home last night. Makes me want to leave more often. LOL.
NYKaren, I really enjoyed the Rome pictures, especially EROS. Just my type!
Lisa, I have been through all the laundry room frustration with machine hogs with hapless grown up children living with me. My solution is to keep a basket that I pile their wet stuff into, then I use the machine and do my own laundry and after I'm through, I return their stuff to the machine. Simple fix. Are you too cold or too hot? A battery operated fan or heater, or gas powered might be a good short term solution. I know the best fix will be getting into your own space again.
RORI, I am envious. Planning my exit too and going to get a date set before too long.

Sort of a busy day at work, haven't had time for too much lurking, but looks like everyone else is busy also, as this page is quiet today!
Wendy, so glad you had a good time with the grandkids! And some excitement too! Happy that everyone in your world was safe and secure.
The hiking sounds awesome, running, well, not so much! lol I fancied being a runner for awhile and was doing well, then had an injury and things just have not been the same since. Now I find I prefer other methods of cardio, ones that are less stress on the joints.
Rori, I too am envious of your pending retirement! Sounds like you have your plans well laid out.
That's it for me for now.
