Terry- thanks! Hopefully will come back millionaires LOL! I generally throw in a 20 and that's it. I do usually win on it but then I stop. I think the win is a temptation to continue on but I'd rather throw my money into a vending machine at least I get something for it!

Good morning!
It’s still raining. Ok I’d like to see the sun now!
Yeah, taxes and death, right? With both of of getting SS and anuities from the state of TX, and I have another from HanesBrands, we just get screwed. We certainly don’t make that much!
I suggested paying in quarterly payments to DH but he said he would keep his cash until he has to spend it!
I have been tossing around going to an attorney for a consult about my mothers passing. As you see she was in a rehab because she had fallen and she was having a hard time walking. She was doing OK but she still can go to the bathroom without some help. The reason why she fell is because my “evil” sister and her got into an argument and at the time my sister lived with her in Arkansas. So she got pissed off and took off for home which is in Las Vegas, Nevada. She never told me that she was leaving because neither one of them were talking to me at the time. But my mother texted her and told her that she fell and she needed help so she calls the lady down at the church down the street. The lady took her to the local hospital. Then the local hospital had her set up to Little Rock because she needed a pacemaker; which is about 2 hour drive north. At that time my sister called me and told me what was going on and she was flying in from Vegas to Little Rock. So I’m about a hour and a half or so from Little Rock out in Hot Springs so I offered to pick her up being a nice person as I am. So I picked her up at the airport and we went to see our mother and she was just so happy to see me after not talking for a year. So when she got out of the hospital they sent her to the rehab and like I said she was doing OK but then she was not feeling well and so my sister who had the flu really really bad for two weeks, had her taken to the hospital from rehab. The doctor at the ER said that there was nothing wrong with her so they sent her back to the rehab that afternoon. My mother told the doctor that she went back there she would die. And that night she passed away. Her death certificate said 11:30 PM January 5. However, The nurse called me at 12:40 AM on the 6th and she said that mom had rang her and by the time she got down there at 12:20 she was already passed. So it just seems to me that there was a whole lot of negligence going on with my mother’s death. She wasn’t feeling well plus the nurses had to supply her the Advair when she was a custom to using it at will. It said on her Death certificate that she died of acute respiratory failure, acute heart failure and kidney disease.
So do you think I have a case? She was 89.
Sorry for rambling. I’m just upset today and didn’t sleep well last night.
I have been doing better with my diet though. Yeah me!
RORI: Congrats! 5 more days! DH and I had to sign papers 90 days in advance. It seemed like an eternity plus my boss thought of 50 more things for me to before I left!

Allie, that does seem weird that they would advertise a job opening and then tell you there wasn't anything available. I think I'd steer clear of that place, if they can't even get their "stuff" together enough to know if they are hiring or not.... Too bad, sounds like it would have been a nice place to work and taking Alfie with you really would be the frosting on the cake (sorry, bad reference! lol)
Lisa, why would she want to leave her laundry in the washer for days on end???? Ewwww! I don't like even leaving it for a few hours! And Heather, yes, the laundry has to be dry before it gets put away! I have a bathroom right next to the laundry room. The tub/shower combo don't get used much at all, but the shower bar is a great place for hanging all my "hang to dry" stuff! So nice having more than one bathroom!
Lisa, that whole location looks like a lovely place to hang out! I certainly understand you looking forward to having control of your own life. I would have a tough time living with someone else's rules after all this time of making my own!
Rori, how exciting to be retiring so soon! Nice that you have your hobbies all lined up too! My dad always said he didn't know how he ever had time to work, he was so busy with other stuff once he retired! lol
Yesterday was day 4 of eating fairly well, today was day 5 of getting to the gym. And then when I got to work I found out the truck had not come thru and salted our lot. It was kind of icy, so I went out and hand bombed the lot and driveway, then swept some salt that had gotten close to doors and was on the concrete in front of the lockers. I work in a storage facility, we have about 30 units that are outside access, they have large garage type roll up doors. If the salt sits too close to the steel doors, they will start to corrode so the boss likes us to make sure its swept back onto the lot. While I was sweeping, my fitbit said I had done my 10,000 steps already! May have been more the motion from my arm doing the sweeping, but then again I did walk up and down the length of the building a few times. All in all, a productive morning! And now it's snowing again.... Still really light, small flakes to hopefully it won't build up into anything much.
Hope everyone has a good one!

Allie ~ Prayers said that everything will work out to your benefit. You have had so much happening lately.
Dana ~ That is sad about your mom. My mom was in the hospital with pneumonia the week she passed, the nurses there just seemed to be very uncaring. My sister (an RN) had to jerk a knot in them to get them to give mom the care she needed.

My cousin lives in Vegas and the one time I went out I won $90 on the slot machines. I started with a $20. My cousins wife plays once a week the $1 slots and won $1,000 one time.3 -

I say it doesn't hurt to get an attorney's opinion. Might make you feel better too.4 -
Good afternoon ladies.
Weigh in day was today. It was not a stellar day. I was down .2 pounds. I guess it’s better than being up, which I was mid week. I’m just really glad it wasn’t still up! That’s what I get for stepping on the scale mid week!
Congrats to all those with victories, hugs to those struggling or facing challenges.

Dana- I think you have a stronger case for getting 50% of her estate from your sister. Especially with the circumstances of her last days. I would ask Lenora she seems to know everything about the law.

Spousal IRAs are a good way to reduce your federal tax burden if you qualify, and can still be contributed to until April 17 for 2017.

Dana - I agree, can't hurt to talk with an attorney. There was a lot of strange stuff going on during the last year of your mom's life with your sister and then at the ER/Rehab. At least an attorney should be able to help you lay it all out and help you decide if there's anything worth pursing, considering your time and the emotional energy it might take.

Did a spinning downloadable workout. The plan for tomorrow is to do some sort of DVD that uses bands.
kay - congratulations!!!
Been enjoying the figure skating when I can watch it. Unfortunately, we don't have a DVR down here so I have to watch it live. Wish I could tape it
Seems there's still a problem with the dishwasher. Vince wants to order a new inlet valve and install that. At least it works to wash the dishes. Just that after a bit water comes into the bottom
Lanette - This Gala thing - I wonder if they're going to get the 75 people and 5 guests that they're expecting. It's during the summer, kids will be going back to school shortly so grandparents will want to have one last time with them. That's what's happened with the pool party. They're planning it for Aug. 17. Oh well..... That's the weekend of the Bristol race. Maybe I'll get Vince tickets for Father's Day. He's always wanted to see the night race there.
Rye - I didn't realize that Yogi made the Egyptian tea! And I even have a coupon for a free box. I gotta keep my eyes open for that
According to the scale at the Y (which I have my doubts about), it doesn't say that I lost but it also doesn't say that I gained.
KJ - yes, that is some sort of Ukranian egg. My cousin made some. they were gorgeous! Don't think I could do that, tho.
M - touring is even better than watching a race.
Oh my goodness, is sugar ever addicting! We had the meeting about the assessment at the condo then we went to the insurance agent's office to give them the bill for the assessment so they can pay their portion. Anyway, they had these candies there. I thought they were mints. But they weren't, they were these sort-of candies. really sweet. I got started and had a hard time stopping.
Did some of my x-stitch then went out by the pool. We're supposed to be meeting friends of ours for dinner (at a seafood place)
Becky - I do the same thing, too. I think I've been at about the same weight for a few years now. Guess that's where my body wants to be. I'll go up 2 sometimes 3, down 2 sometimes 3. As long as it isn't 10 I'm happy
Had dinner with our friends. I thought I did fairly well with my choices. I had the catfish broiled, steamed broccoli and a sweet potato, tea for dessert and only water to drink with dinner.

KetoneKaren, unfortunately in our case (and I suspect Dana’s as well), all our income is “unearned”, so we can’t get an IRA. Our issue is that income from four different sources, all tax withheld at the lower bracket throw us into a higher bracket when combined. I guess it’s a good problem to have, but it still hurts to write that check.
Dana, talking to a lawyer doesn’t hurt, and might make you feel better, even if he or she doesn’t think you have a case. I’m so sorry you have all these unresolved questions in addition to your regular grief. It’s a lot to deal with. My grandmother died in 1997 on New Year’s Eve, and I still feel like she would not have died if her doctor had not been out of town. On the other hand, she was facing a reality of not being able to be independent anymore, so it was probably a blessing, and doctors are allowed lives of their own, too. It still doesn’t make it any easier to accept.5 -
Bittersweet dropping our son off at the airport this morning. He is back in Chicago. At a hotel tonight then into his apt tomorrow. Had to order on Amazon an air mattress, sheets, towels and pillows as his goods won't arrive to later in the week. He'll have to "rough" it for a bit.
We are looking at 6 houses tomorrow on our house hunting journey. That will make about a dozen we've looked at. Have this rental until July. Interesting market down here in this college town of mainly rental homes. I'm confident we will find what we need. We are trying to continue our downsizing journey and only purchasing a home the size we will live in the complete space. I will again be going through our moving boxes we arrived with and further editing our possessions.
I received a FREE Fitbit Alta HR and am really loving the heart rate monitoring part. Through my hubs medical coverage we fill in a health questionnaire each year. When I went to the site to do mine I had totally forgotten that I had linked my current Fitbit to it last year. I have been earning Fitness Points every day and had enough to go "shopping" in their store. I had enough to "buy" a new Fitbit Alta HR! I gave my current Fitbit Alta to the hubs which he now wears and is linked to the site so he is happily earning Fitness Points. It truly is motivating to see that little flashing heart during my "stepping" activity and during my interval training and weight lifting at the gym! I am happily earning Fitness Points towards my next fitness purchase!!
The sun finally showed up today after like forever. I laced up my sneakers and headed out the door for a walk. It was wonderful!
Have y'all in my pocket or on my shoulder and definitely in my !

I agree Dana, if it makes you feel better about it then it is worth it for your Mom's sake to pursue this with a lawyer. If it were me and I didn't do it then I would never forgive myself. I do hope Lenora pops in here and gives some insight.
Went to my occupational therapy today and am now graduated! I have met all her goals. She did give me a stronger resistance band to use. But my grip strength numbers and pinch strength were all at her goals. It's bad though that she says I have graduated and I still have to pay $40!
I remember when I quit work. I called in sick May 15th. I used sick days until I could start my short term disability. Then I finished my accrued sick time. I think I finished all that by November. November 22 was my anniversary there so I had my 4 week vacation time due to me. The whole time I was off and even vacation time I was accruing more sick time. Plus the hospital had a thing that gave employees money for good patient evaluations. So I got that at Christmas time. I hadn't even worked a day of this time that the patient eval time was. But it came in my pay check. So I was well paid for the time I was off. But sadly, that was my final paycheck as between me and my neurologist, we decided that I needed to retire. I was glad though that I did t have to say one day at work that my MS was bad and I needed to quit. I don't think I could have tolerated that last day of work saying goodby to my fellow employees. Even if I was retiring in good health that day would be hard, it would be very distracting from my work. They did have a retirement party for me when I felt well enough to do it. I appreciated that a lot. It was so good to see the many people throughout the whole hospital come see me and wish me well. The hospital had a weekly newsletter and announce things like retirement parties. We knew that there are certain employees that go to things like that just because they know there is free food.
Heather and Lisa, so excited about the prospect of your new homes. Good luck to the both of you. Heather, I don't think I could ever liv in a village atmosphere. I have to have at least one mall and several shopping centers near by. Charlie knows that sometimes I just need to be by myself and go 'window shopping'. I might buy some inexpensive thing but I just need to be out by myself.
JanetR, I took several pictures of the different bases that my eggs sit in. One is the plastic napkin ring that you can pick up anywhere. The other is a flat ceramic looking base that came with the rock. But this is the one I was talking about
Please excuse the table. It's dark and didn't let the picture come out the way I wanted. I wish my iPad had a flash.
I am so ready for steady 70 degree + days. This has felt like he longest winters.

I finished watching the figure skating today. I am so grateful for my DVR and the cable package we have that allowed me to watch all the skaters, not just the top ones. I rode my exercise bike through all the skating so I got some good exercise. My line dance class today was lots of fun even with the battery on the microphone quitting, a CD malfunctioning, no light on the stage, and no heat in the building. At the break two of my students came to tell me that they are getting married. Both are in their 70's and met at a group for widows and widowers. I've watched them come to class together and dance side by side but had no idea that there was anything more than a a friendship.

Cheri, I'm so jealous of your sun, we haven't seen it for 4 days now. Rained hard most of the day and will rain again in the morning. I think it's supposed to begin to clear off after that and warm up a bit. I sure hope so.
Joyce, thanks for the pics of the egg display holders. I've been looking on line, the have scads of them, some of them are on the order of a candelabra looking thing that holds from 4 to the larger ones that hold 8-10, and the individual ones more like what you show. I also found some really neat trees to hang Christmas balls on. I'm getting so excited about the store. I'm praying that it will all work out.
I'm thinking towards mid-summer I can do up balls with the different football team logos, both college and pro. I did the one special order Kansas City Chiefs at Christmas if you recall. I could also do Halloween, etc. Saw some really cute Halloween ideas last night.
Hugs to all and much love.

Hi Ladies... I just started on MFP 3 weeks ago. I love this program and am excited to join a group of ladies 50 plus. I am 53 a mom of a 11 year old and a competitive sailor. My husband said we needed to loose weight to stay competitive. It was just the incentive I needed, since I was feeling 50 plus and frumpy. Sooooo... I started logging my food each day. I'm eating 6 meals a day and my big goal for the rest of the month is NOT to eat after my 6th meal at 8:00 pm. Not watching TV after dinner maybe quite helpful. Plus if I'm typing or reading on the computer it's hard to eat and type at the same time : ) Are any of you ladies in Northern California?8

Did not have an AFD yesterday. The house hunting stress got to me! Three emails and a phone call from the agent to reorganise the last two viewings!!
Today is an AFD. I just feel so much better when I don't drink or have my AF beer.
My cleaner is coming today as she had a puncture on Thursday. She has endless car problems. Then we are Skypeing the grandchildren at 11.30. Going to ask them about a parking voucher for Monday, or to leave their drive free for us.
It turns out that the house we fancy has a small garage at the end of a narrow shared drive. Don't know if you can actually get any car in there as it's a 90° turn! We have a 4×4 with a very poor turning circle. Good for storage though!
Welcome Sasha!
