Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD,
Oh nooooo! Men's bathrooms are awful! I get baby wipes free from the food banks, so I make my husband clean his own throne! Also, its frustrating because he has broken the plastic parts that connect the seat to the toilet. Too much sitting, and moving to do his business! Every once in awhile I attack it. I get around the tabs, clean the connector metal pipes, and around the back. He has enough connectors to keep it on there, but sheesh! We will have to buy a new throne seat and lid when we move, but not high on my priority list! I have taken over the smaller bathroom Owain used. So what does my husband do? He uses MY bathroom!!!! No, no its my throne!! So of course, my connectors are getting loose now! Grrrr.

Rye, I always had very few eyebrows, what was there were very very light blonde so about 8 years ago I got "permanent eyebrows and eyeliner" done. More or less tatoo. I have loved loved it but now that I have gotten this age Black not white or gray but black wild sticking out eyebrows grow in. I pluck them regularly.

Happy Monday everyone! I will start my post off with "happy dogs encased in farm animals". Can't you just feel the love!
Today I emptied the vacuum canister as I put the vacuum away! Hold the presses!!! Next time the vacuum itch strikes, I will have a clean, empty vacuum to work with. I only did it because my husband razzed me about it! I'll show him! And......his manipulation works again.....darn it!
Today is eat like a hippie day! Going to warm up one of my spinach nests, with rice and chop some cucumbers and a blob of cottage cheese! Maybe sprinkle it with walnuts! Can you just feel me channeling Yule Gibbons!!!??
Have a great day! We shall be victorious!

Hello my dear friends,
Saturday night our Women of the Moose hosted a Jailhouse Rock Dinner dance as a fundraiser. It was very successful and everyone had a great time. I was miffed because only 4 of us showed up to decorate which meant it took longer than it could have. Luckily many stayed to help take the decorations down which was good because I was tired by then. Tonight is Nominating Committee meeting and then not as much for the rest of the week until the Garage Sale on Saturday. Next week is the State Convention and it's always fun. There are two more dinner/dances in March and then our year winds down.
I am still not responding to individuals as I read and skip so much to keep up. Congrats on the victories, good luck on the projects and challenges and (((Hugs))) to those needing and wanting it.
to all the Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you
This was our jail. Someone had to bail us out for $1.00 which went to the charity. For those that don't know me, I' the one with the Que Tip topper. (White hair)

Home again! And we escaped the snow - just a few flurries as we outran it home.
They rejected our offer so we've upped it. Their agent is going to check tomorrow with our agent on the firmness of our buyers and their buyers and then we hope to hear back from the vendors.
We really, really, REALLY want that house. Janetr - No private parking, but there is a sort of shared drive for emergencies with tiny garage/shed round the corner. You have to get a parking permit and each occupier is allowed 50 guest permits per year. Restrictions are 10-11 am and 7-8 pm. This is to stop commuters and theatre goers parking. Will be busy in the summer, but I think it will be OK. Otherwise we love it. I sooooooo hope they accept our offer. The promenade and the sea is at the end of the road.
Hope I sleep tonight.
Cheri - sounds as if yours is going OK. Excited for you.
The grandchildren were in great form. We played, sat with them over tea, tv half hour and bath, bedtime story. I talked to my son about alcohol. He is doing well. Discovering lots of delicious AF drinks. He is going to try moderate drinking again in 2 months time. He cooked us delicious Bratwurst with couscous salad and broccoli.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx

I haven't had my eyebrows waxed since I moved to Oregon because it's a different license here, and I'm too lazy to go to two different people. But I did it a lot when I lived in Kansas. I remember my youngest sitting on my lap and watching them do it one time, and he was so confused. "Doesn't that hurt??" The hairdresser responded, "Yep! The cost of beauty." (Or something like that.)
I've just been plucking myself, and it doesn't look as good.

Heather: Keeping my fingers crossed for a successful offer.
Rita: I don't pluck my eyebrows, either. I haven't had a stray in ages. Of course, saying this will undoubtedly cause one to stray. :ohwell:
Sue: Your pup is adorable. I can't get my DH to exercise for his health, either. :grumble:
DH took his car in to Les Schwab for a new battery. It turns out the battery is fine and they're replacing the alternator. Evidently it caused the problem. It will be nice to have a second reliable car again.

Well we got part of of tax refund back so off to Fred Meyers, (our grocery/department everything store). I bought Nuke son an encouragement card, some ear buds so I don't have to pester husband for his, some sugar free gum,and a new remote because ours was dying! I stopped by Joannes fabric store, and bought my beads. They came in a packet of 9 beads, so I bought 4 packs. They were $6 each, with the bracelets being $9. So my current plan is losing 36 lbs. Each bead is a lb. Every time I lose a lb it goes on my bracelet. I'm excited!
Each packet of loose beads were tied with ribbons, so it looks like they are strung, but that is just how they're packaged. I plan to put in a Mason jar, and decorate the lid.
What I do for positive thinking!

Good morning!
We saw 6 houses over the weekend and bid on 1 of them. Countered another bid with owners last evening. Whoop whoop and they accepted! It's an interesting situation that totally works to our advantage. They want to close quickly and then rent back from us. We have this rental house until July. So they will sign a rental agreement with us and vacate the home near the end of May. Their rent will cover our rent and more! Sweet deal for us. Lots of inspections and paperwork but hopefully this is our #homesweetTexashome!

Karen - here is the formula I see used the most for calories burned walking/running. It matches my Apple Watch fairly closely.
Net Running calories Spent = (Body weight in pounds) x (0.63) x (Distance in miles)
Net Walking calories Spent = (Body weight in pounds) x (0.30) x (Distance in miles)

Hi everyone. And thank you Barbie for this thread.
After many years of thinking about it, I have finally decided to make my health a priority. I started on this journey two months ago. I hired a trainer 3x/week. During this time, I have lost 6 lbs doing intermitten fasting 3 weeks ago My body has also toned. I Just started restricting my calories to 1,200 a few weeks ago. And just joined a gym to go to 2x per week in the mornings before work. I only have 7 more lbs to go. My goal is to be fit and toned by my 53rd birthday this coming June. That is 4 mo. from now.
In the past I never thought I was important enought to dedicate this much effort into myself. My efforts to take care of my health always came last, so my goals never amounted to anything. No more of that. Age should not define anyone. I plan on being the best version of me that I can possibly attain.

Can’t catch up.......or even remember the newer ppl,but wecome all. Hub spent 4 days in hospital with water weight. His Heart Dr & meds took care of that. The following day,I was admitted for rectal bleeding. After 3 days at home, was still happeniing....so no choice. No food or water for 4 days, but IV kept me from being hungry. Then had to take 2 diff antibiotics. What a miserable experience that is.
Enough complaining......Getting better every day.
Hope you are all doing good. We’ve got a couple days of sunny 60’s.Sure beats dreary Feb.
Oh well,March is on the way.

Joyce - thinking about your sis and WW, she might actually like going there and being with people at the meetings, having buddies she can communicate with. Sounds like she's a "social" person? If so this type of forum might not be fulfilling. I think WW has a great plan, if a person can afford it. I made "lifetime" several years ago so can attend meetings/get weighed for free (I make double sure I'm well below goal) plus pick up a voucher for 2 months (if I remember right) of free online logging. Hope her knee surgery goes well!
Katla - glad the alternator on your DH's car got repaired. Always good to have a backup vehicle! Hope we've seen the end of snow for this winter.
Karen in NY - did you see Rome had snow? Perfect timing. Glad you are feeling better, rested up and back to your normal schedule. I'd love to be a mouse and ride along on your next trip. S Africa sounds good but I don't care where ;-).
Sue in WA - thinking about your husband - I'm glad he's going to see the surgeon. I wonder if he really IS in terrible pain because something's not right with the surgery? You never know these days. The PT should be sending reports to the doc. I am not patient with my DH when he's been recuperating (and super grumpy) so my heart goes out to you. Look at the face on your sweet puppy!! Luckily, my little gal liked to chew on Nylabones so most shoes and furniture and even toys were spared. She spends time in her crate now and then, if we have to go somewhere, and we give her a little Nylabone to work on. How does she like the goats or has she been out to visit them yet?
Heather - I am crossing fingers the deal goes thru on that house you like. Can't wait until it's really in the works and maybe we can talk you into taking a few "street shots" so we can see the neighborhood where you'll be walking, shopping, etc. That area sounds ideal to me.
Cheri - crossing fingers for you as well. Will the house you've found be closer to your DH's work? Shopping?
Wendy - wow, all that police action! Fire truck! Glad the bad guys didn't come into your yard and give you grief. Good job taking the grands in the house and locking the door! So sweet your DH was glad to see you. Was the arena all cleaned out and back to the way you had it?
Lisa - of course you realize you'll have to give us a photo of your new digs in AR so we can see where you'll be walking/running as well! Glad you had a chance to clear the air with your DD.
Mary - looks like you are having lots of fun in Vegas - good for you!! Great photos of you and your DH and of the "kids". Bet the grands were tickled to see you!
Becca - those beads are so cute. Very inspirational!! Kudos for cleaning out the vacuum cleaner this time. I tend to forget and my DH empties the canister in the kitchen garbage when he thinks I'm not looking. GGRR!!! DUST!!! I haul the whole vacuum out onto the deck, and empty the canister into a garbage bag then walk it to the garbage can.
Regarding eyebrows, have you ever seen those old Polish or German ladies (and guys) with coarse long curly eyebrows that grow an inch long? That's me! So I am always just snipping them with manicure scissors. My brows are maybe 1/3 inch long and seems like every other day a couple really take off. Snip snip. I used to pluck the gray ones but now most of them are gray.
MY DH is starting to worry about his doc appointment this Friday - possible stents in his arteries. They'll do ultrasounds and all that. So his sleep is messed up, his eating messed up, tummy aches, knee aches. He pretty much suffers in silence but is quiet and depressed. That's OK.
Now I think I'm semi-caught up. Welcome Newbies and welcome back Mia! I remember you!
Have a good evening!

Karen, my "kids" are technically my stepkids, I married into 'em nine years ago in June. But they call me "Mom," and they're my children, and they know they always will be. Their birth mom is an addict, living with her dealer in an extended stay motel in Colorado, and not in their lives much. They needed someone. I'm it. I learned I was infertile at 25, no babies ever for me, and lived thinking that for another 25 years. I was wrong. Now I've got grandkids, too! Life has a funny way of teaching you that you never, ever, know.

There's no way I would burn 300-400 cal/hour walking. Maybe jogging, but definitely not walking.
According to this article, I might be burning about 250 cal/hour, but I think that's a stretch too. And it would defeat my purposes entirely if I were to over-estimate my exercise calories.
https://www.runnersworld.com/peak-performance/running-v-walking-how-many-calories-will-you-burn
Meanwhile, this one has walking for an hour at 150 cal, which might be a touch low.
http://calorielab.com/burned/?gr=17&kg=68&mo=se&q=&ti=walking&un=lb&wt=150
So I just average the two and go with 200 cal/hour for a walk.

Curious... do/did you pluck your eyebrows? I did the day of my wedding and maybe once or twice In High school. It hurt.
Friend’s jaw dropped to the floor when I said I didn’t/don’t. She said she never realized some women did not pluck their eyebrows regularly. My jaw dropped at that.
Never.
At some point in my teens, I was told that if I did start plucking my eyebrows, I would have to continue to do it for the rest of my life. That settled it. No way was I going to get involved in all that.
When it comes to all that sort of thing, I go with the easiest route possible.
My hair is hip length which makes it really easy for me to take care of. Shower, conditioner, comb and I'm done.
I only shave my legs on skirt days.
My makeup is a touch of foundation.
And I try to go simple and comfortable with my clothes.
I've got it down now so that I can wake up and be out the door to work or university in 35 minutes.

I feel ya! Sucks to be short, indeed. Estimates are 160 calories for an hour of walking (53 ish A mile) for me . That is actually one reason I swim. A more reasonable calorie burn for effort and time, imo. Estimates say I burn around 380 cal an hour swimming IIRC. And then there is the problem that if my math is correct then those estimates are close to twice actual calories burned.3 -

Yeah, a lot like me. Almost no makeup, hair long straight cut, clothes comfortable, tweezers used for the odd granny hair and splinters - and I’ve never had anything waxed. (Shudder!).
Am I clean and tidy? If yes then I’m good to go. Lol. My nieces despair!4
