Hi Everyone! I am Andrea, 55. I just joined MFP two weeks ago. Loving it and loving the friends!!

I am the caregiver for my darling husband who has GBM (brain cancer) but is doing GREAT.

February is his diagnosis anniversary month, so we trained and walked 17 miles on Super Bowl Sunday in honor of his anniversary.

Even though we are super walkers, I take in enough calories to have gained more pounds than I would like.

I will DEFINITELY be checking in with this group. So supportive!

Our word of the year is STORY. As in: Everyone we meet has one, and...let’s choose the story we live.

Well, as expected, Dianne's hubby doesn't want to go to the place in Georgia tomorrow. I had the feeling that by the time the guys got home, he wouldn't want to get up in time to leave here by 4 in the morning. She seemed to want to go, but he wasn't crazy about the idea so they aren't, which doesn't surprise me one bit. So I guess I'll do some HIIT tomorrow since I can do that early in the morning. I'm suspecting that they'll probably leave here around 8-9 so I should be back by then.

Hannah Joy will be a year old in two weeks. She's a doll baby. Mia will be a year old March 9. Hopefully I'll get a new picture of her too.

Love and hugs to all, working on ornaments. Jack and I are meeting with the landlord of the craft store tomorrow. Gonna try some Easter Eggs, that should be interesting, but I get to use all my beautiful pastel colors.

Morning, all,

Back from our retreat rested, refreshed, and with good news all 'round. First, on me, I only gained a bit over a pound, and while I didn't go completely crazy over the weekend, I did wobble a bit here and there, so VERY pleased with that. Just didn't want the scale to go back up over the 10-pound mark (numbers junkie), and I stayed at 209.1, so happy with that. And I'm still bloated all over, so I know as that peels off, the weight will too. Water weight works both ways, it goes on quick, as well as coming off quick, and traveling always makes me swelly.

The son has a plan in mind that, with just a couple things going right, should see him through the next couple months and safely ensconced in Arkansas ahead of us. We'll talk to his uncle today, who John convinced to help with the upcoming few months rent to get him through his lease, and also convinced that he'll pay him back. Since it will cost $3,000 plus, we could not and would not have assisted--he SEEMS to have thought everything through, and more than anything else, John's making plans. For his future. For ANY future. That makes me very happy.

And things with the daughter are better. We're staying carefully away from any hint of leaving for now, and when she's ready, she'll bring it up. I think, while she's in the field, her father and I will check into some local, well-reviewed daycares. There's one near here that does before and after-school care, as well as daycare, and the bus from his school could drop the six-year-old off there easily. We'll see.

JanetR - your plans for the craft store sound absolutely spiffy. Hope they work out very, very well, and jeweled Easter eggs sound absolutely beautiful. Knowing your work from the Christmas ornaments, I'm sure they'll be simply gorgeous. I have always been fascinated by Faberge eggs, and that's how I see yours.

I'm the only one in the house who has to work today, so I better get on it.

Oh! and for my fellow British TV lovers - Got home in time to eat a little dinner and retreat upstairs, and just to unwind, started a one-season series called "William & Mary," starring Martin Clunes. You'll know him if you ever watched "Doc Martin." We stayed up 'til midnight watching every episode, getting totally hooked from the first. Woke up speaking with combined British/Scottish accent in my head, I swear. It was wonderful.

Hi Ladies,
No workout for me today. Still feeling after effects of virus last week. Going to do a relaxation yoga stretch today and keep it light for the next few days. It snowed on Saturday night, but much of it has already melted. Today it's sunny and cool, but by Wednesday we should hit 70 so I'll probably take a walk then. I've kept up the water and I'm now eating solid food after 3 days of not eating much at all.I don't have a lot of energy, still tired, but not as weak and dizzy as last week and no headaches. Prayers for all who need them. Have a great day.

Andrea, welcome to the group and MFP. That’s great that you were able to celebrate your DH 1 year anniversary with a walk. Is he still able to work at all? Must be difficult for you both. (((Hugs)))

Janet, I like the idea of the Easter eggs. You could get little display stands as they wouldn’t be hung from trees like the Christmas ones. Can’t wait to see them.

Lisa, glad to hear you are well rested and that your D.S. is making plans for the future.

I have the day off today so hopefully DD got enough homework done to be able to take some time off to go to the movies with me. I was asleep when she got back from her dater so I don’t know how it went. She was out late so I’m assuming that it went well.

Never watched W&M , don't know why, but I love Doc Martin.

Just finished Day 2 Week 8 of c25k. Found it quite hard going today, but I think my pace was marginally quicker. I was trying to "push back" a little more and could feel it.
My son is encouraging me to do a Parkrun, or enter a race, but I'm far from that yet. I'm so enjoying reading all my running books and magazines, but reading is easier than doing! :laugh:

I did quite a hard section of my memoir this morning. Pleased to have got through it.

Running, writing, learning a language, dancing, learning an instrument all have something in common - sheer persistence and repetition gets you there in the end. A little every day, or every other day, and soon you will have accomplished something even if it feels you are getting nowhere at the time. Does that sound like any other process we know about????? The tortoise really does win the race. It's not about talent, or big gestures, it's about putting one foot in front of the other day by day. Small changes add up to big changes. I started by running one minute at a time. I started my book with a few short sentences. I have learnt all my languages by committing to five minutes a day. I ate healthily one meal at a time.
I wish I'd known this when I was younger.
But I'm so glad I know it now.

DON'T LET THE PERFECT BE THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD.

I was running water last night when all of a sudden I noticed hot water pressure was rapidly dwindling, so I went under the house to find that the hot water tank had rusted out. Took me a little while to figure out where to turn the water off to the hot water system, as it was a bit remote, but I did get it turned off. I wanted to talk with the emergency manager for my HVAC provider, but they didn't call back. I left 2 messages, an hour apart. Their emergency system apparently didn't work as it should have. Not very reassuring. I have contacted them this morning and they will work us in today. Meanwhile, no hot water. We do have cold water of course. That will make for a brisk shower, LOL! The water is about 45F or 7C.

Update: Tommy has been out this morning and has gone off to get our new hot water tank. This is a little 6 gallon tank that is part of our tankless system. (I know...) - and I got a call from the semi-retired head honcho of our HVAC provider, apologizing and assuring me that they do take emergency calls very seriously and pride themselves on having a manager available 24/7 to respond in a timely fashion to urgent issues. He will be looking into what happened. We had a nice little chat. I work with his brother.
