You're right. I have logged "cleaning" once in all the time I've been here and that was because I spent 4-5 hours on my feet, cleaning, unpacking boxes, lifting and moving boxes and furniture, cleaning some more etc. etc. Basically, moving into our place.
I certainly wouldn't count the time it takes me to load the dishwasher and wipe down the counter and appliances or clean the bathroom & toilet room or even vacuum the place ... all that falls under my normal "sedentary" category, and I figure if I happen to burn an extra 30 cal doing something, and also happen to make a slight food logging error and I underestimate the calories in a food item by 30 cal, it will all balance out.

There has been some confusion about posting links. Here is what MFP says about links:
You may not post any links or mentions of other services, websites, or businesses from which you or an associate might benefit financially or otherwise. This includes, but is not limited to; posts that contain links to offsite blog posts and social media. You also may not solicit off-Forum contact from which you might benefit, e.g. "message me for more info", “I can get you free samples”, etc.
Positing most links create no problem.

Did the FOY Fat Burner DVD that I just got. It's really all yoga, but that certainly doesn't make it a bad DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do the Biggest Loser Boot Camp DVD (another new one)
Stepped on the Wii, it says that I lost 3 lbs while I was away. I'm sure that'll come back on soon enough!!
Back in NC now. Boo hoo! Well, now I work on Vince to get our pool opened I somehow don't think he is really all that keen on doing it really fast -- but I am. Let me tell you, seeing the Falcon Heavy take off was awesome, but watching those rockets land side-by-side at KSC -- beyond awesome. We were about 7 miles away (I think the closest that the general public can get is something like 5 miles away)
Becca - I think NC is worse than Portland with the snow. Even the mere mention of that word and the schools close.
Welcome everyone new
Sorry for what I may have missed. I'm just skimming trying to get caught up since I wasn't here yesterday or the night before
Congrats on all the losses
Cheri - so glad everything worked out with the house. Sounds wonderful
Rye - I don't regularly pluck my eyebrows. Maybe I have once or twice, but that's it. I've never had an eyebrow wax and don't intend to ever have one
KJ - i knew you'd do well on the inspection. You're so wonderful with those kiddos
Sue - I hear ya with the "I can't". Vince isn't feeling well...you'd think the world was coming to an end. Regardless of how sick I am, I know that he'll help out, but it won't get done properly or in a timely fashion, so I need to do it. Adorable puppy
DJ - that Jailhouse Rock looks so neat. What other activities did you have? How did you determine who went to "jail"?
Wendy - good luck on the new diet. Let us know how it's going
Found out that ACMoore is having its last cake decorating class next month so I need to call to see if I can get in. I really wanted to take it.
Went to Aldi, WalMart and then Sears because I had a $12 card, got a pair of $40 pajamas for $2
Loved all the pics
I use my phone or tablet to enter my foods but also come here on my desktop
Heard from Lenora. Here's what she had to say to us: "for the next 3 weeks, I can only type with my left-hand. Although, when I paint with my left hand; my mind is not wired that way. My moue is programmed for a right-handed user and it takes a lot of 'thinking' about what I am trying to do. I have been able to type with only my left hand, mainly because I am left-0eyed dominant and can reach a 10 key spread on a piano." I did message Dana with Lenora's thoughts on her situation.
We have a Newcomer Board meeting tomorrow. Vince isn't going, but I will. I plan to present the budget for the magician. Actually, I'm not sure if I forgot a payment we made to him last time or if his fee went up, but in the end my budget is still lower than this gala/soiree one. To be honest, I have no desire to go to a hoity-toity affair, at least not during the summertime. I am going to mention "am I the only person who feels that some of these expenses are blown out of proportion? I realize that I'm not on the board." Afterwards, I'm thinking of going to this farmer's market. Vince would never go with me, but since he won't be with me, I can go. Then I go for my injection of Prolia.

Heather, I too was very impressed with you daughter-in-law. Thank you for sharing with us. I have to tell you a funny moment though, when she first started talking I thought oh of course, she has an English accent and was distracted for a minute with trying to "hear" your voice in my head. I think it sounds so much more sophisticated than American slang.
Lisa, thank you for considering me a friend. I too think of the group as my close friends. I'd be lost for a while if it were taken from me.

Hi ladies! I hope you all had a great Tuesday. I spent mine sitting in class.Ugh! So while I'm walking trying to get a few steps in I figured I would answer all like the last 4 pages of information. Let's see if I got all mine notes right....
Machka and Wendy- I'm awful it drinking water but I find if I start drinking it then I can keep it up. just get too thirsty. my trick is it has to be room temperature.
Barbie- Physical therapy sucks! But I've also seen the results of not having physical therapy. Keep up the great work.
Rye- So I actually understand the difficulty with your husband's friends. sorry you have to go through it too. my husband has friends that I say are not good for our relationship.
they know-it-all and he seems to think they know what's best! it sucks! I play nice when we're together but that's about it.
Joyce- Good job on the blood pressure Joyce! I hope that whatever is going on with your fingers gets better soon. sounds so painful.
Laura- great meal choices!
Sending before this disappears!

Part 2. Pardon punctuation. Speech to text while walking. Suppose to be doing work, but need steps!
Heather- Waiting to hear on a house and settlements in such a so nerve wracking but it's still exciting.
KJ-I understand about the DH colonoscopy. For my husband's night of the waterfalls, we laughed a lot. Mine was so much easier than his. I also understand the I can't attitude and yes I see my patience seems to be wearing a little thin after 25 years.
Bialetthi62- laura-welcome! These ladies will keep you on your toes and your fingers but they offer lots of support and will kick you in the bottom if you need it.
Well ladies I've managed to walk 10000 steps . 5000 in the last hour! We are going to need new carpet by the time I hit my goal weight unless the weather breaks and I can start walking outside. I think I'm wearing a path. I got to catch up with all of you and post! all is good !sleep well!

Ohhh fixed my Asian salad kit! Actually I sautéed it with some of the ginger dressing it came with. Then I added some of my brown rice, some fresh spinach and the crunchy bits of tortilla strips and almonds. Yummy. The salad is mostly shredded cabbage and that does well sautéed. I bought my "endangered species" chocolate, dark with nuts in it, and separated it into 5 servings. Being that there is 15 squares, it was logical. The package said 1/2 the bar was a serving, pppft!
Reading before bed a mindless Debbie Macomber paperback, nibbling on chocolate and sipping my last cuppa.
Ooh look
Can you tell I'm excited to get a bead!

My son on his phone texting me! This is my eldest, Navy one. Just got a haircut today. He's such a sweetheart!
So serious, but he was taking a pic of his mustache!

Kylia - I sometimes read this thread then voice to text replies while I Exercycle. I don’t have the necessary coordination to do it while walking!
Sorry about your husband’s friends. My DH and I had a good talk, I won’t be going to see them again. If they ask to stay here (they do so about one weekend a year) we will say yes, but I will make sure I am busy most of the time.
I am sorry to crimp my husband’s social life, but this past weekend I think I channeled Wendy standing up for herself and I basically told my husband no more. After his surprise and shock he started to listen to what I experienced (he had been exhausted and actually went to bed first each night) and agreed.
I’m sorry too because it means less visits to San Antonio. IMO there are three wonderful vacation city spots in the U.S. to which I love to visit and would eagerly plan vacations: San Francisco, Chicago and San Antonio. So it is somewhat of a loss- but in the final analysis I was not enjoying my time there very much under those circumstances so it is for the best.
But I’m still trying very hard to put the hurt behind me. I’m not very good at that.

KarenNY: Proud of you for losing a pound while on a holiday. Best of luck with the remainder of your orchestra season.
Lisa: Has it been a year already??? So glad you are enjoying your job. They are lucky to have you.
SueinWA: Adorable puppy.
Machka: I'm just in awe at how much distance you cover on your rides. Thanks for the photo tour.
Pip: Floor exercises...totally with you there. Hate 'em. But I might be asking you to raise your boot in my direction and get me back in the gym.
Heather: DIL is brilliant! I'm sending good thoughts across the pond for some real estate luck to come your way.
My two magical months of living in countdown mode are about to end. ONE. MORE. DAY. My retirement is going to be a surprise to most of my associates around the country. It's my choice to make a quiet exit. My team wants me to come back to NYC in March for a face to face sendoff. No way! No parties, no gifts, no cards, please. Biggest honor would be for them to support our council in Puerto Rico, which is in a world of hurt because they had to cancel their cookie sale this year. It's a disastrous hit to their finances. Hope they hear me.
I have lined up people to move out my home office furniture and a local handyman will be here in 2 weeks to paint the space which I am redecorating as my Zen den. While painting is happening, DH and I will probably take the train to Glenwood Springs, on the western slope of the Rockies, and spend a couple days soaking in the mineral springs and just being in the mountains. Looking forward, feeling positive. Happy dance music is queued up and ready to blast in about 20 hours.
Stay well friends. We can do this.

[quote="kevrit;c-41510844" On way home, had to drive through my first sand storm.

My husband's family lives in Silver City and his sister works in Deming. Those signs on the highway that say "closed when flashing" are often on during sand storms and you darned well better pay attention to it and not head out in the middle of one. They are vicious! As you probably found out. My sister-in-law keeps an extra set of clothes in her car in case she gets stuck in Deming and her school has cots for teachers that can't get home because of sand storms. I don't remember too many of them when I lived there, but I was a college kid in Cruces and probably just had my mind on other things. I only went up to Silver when my boyfriend (now husband) took me along. We spent more time heading up the river to Elephant Butte to play.

Machka, thanks for the advice about the rice. (that rhymes) I never thought of it as something that could cause food poisoning and I do tend to leave it sitting around to cool down before I put it in the fridge. So now it will be going straight into the fridge. I will probably make a fresh batch every three days or so as I don't like to eat "old" food either. I feel like it has lost its goodness after a short while.
Rye, sorry you've had the DH friend problem. I have had to put up not only with the worst house guests, but an unending stream of drunken men staying till late at night or sometimes overnight on the couch. Usually they are out drinking in the garage and i can avoid them. And I do! I can't stand arrogance or racists or bores or ignoramusus (I think that's a word-lol) I'm sure you can find another wonderful place to visit for your holidays. America is full of awe inspiring cities and national parks.
I did my weights work out this morning, just took Jock for a bike ride after work, and now I am heading to the beach for a barefoot run with Major. The sun is hot today and beautiful. I am going to take advantage. Making dinner can just fricking wait. Wendy8 -
Rye- I think it is wonderful that your DH listened to you. Mine doesn't see the toxicity they bring. When I have spoken of it, I get told I am being a &^%$$. I am proud of your DH!
Rori- Congratulations! I understand the no party thing. It isn't my thing either!
❤

Stats for today:
*24,000 steps
*175 minutes walking Sasha and Bessie
*64 minutes riding the exercise bike
*78 minute walk with a friend
Heather, I liked your DIL's TED talk so much that I told my friend about it when we went for our walk, then I told Jake about it and he said he wanted to listen to it and maybe recommend it to his daughter.

Kylia you know what, I’m proud of my DH too! I am blessed and undeservedly lucky in my mate.
So, I really enjoy the hula hoop - and that is (thus far) the only exercise besides swimming I can say that about. So I’m going to try a March Hula Hoop Challenge for myself. A min of 15 minutes of Hula Hooping (actually keeping the hoop in the air) a day, 6 days a week. Starting today and ending April 2. I did today’s session already.
I seem to be able to hula hoop better if I am partially distracted (like TV or podcast) so I’m on the lookout for 15 minute distractions. I thought I’d try a music video station on YouTube (make my own MTV) to start. Suggestions for other distractions welcome with open arms.
G’night ladies.

It had never occurred to me that rice could be a problem either ... until I started doing some research on what could have possibly made me so sick. I've mentioned it to some others too, and everyone has been surprised. We hear about mayonnaise in potato salad, and leaving dairy products out, and chicken, and so on, but hardly anyone talks about rice.wildhorsewendy wrote: »I did my weights work out this morning, just took Jock for a bike ride after work, and now I am heading to the beach for a barefoot run with Major. Sounds wonderful!!
We've got a heavy rain coming in. We do need the rain, so that's all right but I suspect I'll be doing some indoor weight lifting tonight.

Rori, Happy Woo Hoo's for you! I am hot on your heels, trying to retire from at least my office job...but the light at the end of the tunnel is still far too distant, looking more like end of June rather than end of March, which had seemed a likely scenario. DH said he will be talking to head office on Monday so I guess it will be clarified then, I hope. It has all been very vague and ambiguous with lots of if this if that and wait and sees. Meanwhile, we are running out of money before payday which isn't fun and means juggling and stress. But at least there is a light, winking away in the distance.
Kylia, well done on getting your steps in. Who needs carpet anyway?
I'm kind of excited because my youngest daughter has set up a movie room for me upstairs with her xbox and a Netflix account. Now I am going to start catching up on all the movies and shows that I have missed over the years mainly because my hubby is hard wired to the tv remote at night, which is the only time I sit still long enough to watch a movie. And he watches Pickers and car auction and repossessing shows, and cooking shows that bore me to tears. Finally, I get to choose what's on the box. LOL. And it's just like going on the plane, with all sorts of choices and categories to choose from. Does anybody have any favourite movies or shows they can recommend to me? I plan to get a step machine or something to put in my movie room so I can do like Barbara and burn while I get my shows in. I want a machine that is quiet so I can hear my show without too much problem.

Went to the doctor and I am now off work for month of March. Note says that is her opinion that the situation will not improve and that I may have to be off work permanently. First step and now to go on short term disability through my benefits or on to medical EI. After that I can continue with my application to AISH or challenge disability. Don't think my boss was happy or maybe he is. Don't care. He hasn't cared a fig about me for the last 20 years. Trying not to say bad things about people. Trying to keep it all positive. Jheri came with me to doctor and thank goodness as she is able to tell what she has observed. I tend to say that things are not as bad as they are and to sugar coat things. Not my little spitfire. No wonder she is raising a warrior princess. So happy that she is my daughter.
Jheri has all her paintings ready, gallery wired and named. I will not be able to share photos with you until after the show. She is nervous about meeting with the curator tomorrow. She is also struggling with the wording of her artist statement and updating her bio. As her Mom I know it will be perfect.
In other news our oldest son had his girlfriend fly in on Sunday. I am sure there will be some dust flying as he had his boys from Sat - Tues morning. The plan that was agreed on was that the boys would be meeting her at a restaurant dinner where they could call Holly if they felt uncomfortable. Now they had to share the condo with a strange woman for 2 nights. I wish men thought with their brains. I told Ryan I hoped he would take it slow but that train had already left the station. All I want is for everyone to be happy and I am worried for Creedin. Ryan keeps saying that Creedin is neutral about this situation. I highly doubt it. I believe he is saying that because he doesn't want to fight with his Dad. Ugh....I hate this.
We went to dinner for my DBIL birthday. Fish and chips were excellent. Les asked why I removed the batter. I remove the batter from most everything because it has almost always made me sick. He had never seen anyone do that before. We had chocolate cake at their house. The saga of my sister making cake is amusing but much too long to share here.
I'm a little selfish today and it's all about me. I am feeling excited, relieved, anxious, uncertain all at once. Am I crazy to think this good be the start of something good for me.

Went to cinema yesterday with 2 best friends saw FINDING YOUR FEET a British film about oldies, their relationships, etc and some great dancing and music. Actors included Imelda Staunton, Joanna Lumley, Celia Imrie and Timothy Spall. Loved it one of the characters said it's ok to be afraid of dying but not afraid of living. Really enjoyed it and when I came home DH went to our local "chippie" (fish and chip shop) for tea. Naughty but nice. Will get back to grind today
Just enjoying second cup of tea in bed then will exercise before I venture downstairs. I find it easier to do it this way and it suits DH as he gets his newspaper and any shopping and the sits with his coffee in peace. Funny how you get in a routine but it suits us, love retirement. Feel really sorry for one of the friends I was with yesterday, she is still working and because of her age fell foul of govt changes to retirement age for women. I got my State Pension at 60 but stayed on until 65 gosh 8 years in May can't believe how fast time goes
Have a lovely day, hugs for all who need them

Rori happy retirement day! I'm with you, don't want a big fuss/party for my retirement when that day comes. A zen den, now that sounds DELIGHTFUL.
A busy day ahead for me, I am looking forward to shopping after school today for a new top to wear to the concert this Sunday, if I find something I'll post it. My youth orchestra concert is Sunday, the students played beautifully on stage for the dress rehearsal last night. I declined their contract offer for a 3 year position but told them I would sub in a pinch. I bounced out of the building relieved with my decision, clearly their is another path I am destined for, the path is unclear to me but that is okay. On journaling and reflecting I notice that in the 2nd half of every decade I am most dissatisfied and searching for new things/actions in my life. 20s, 30s, 40s all had new challenges/focuses, so far I have not found that something in my late 50s, but hey I am on the path to search it out and I am not disappointed that this one didn't work out.
Good day everyone, NYKAREN8 -
Rori - Sounds absolutely wonderful, and very like you to not have the flap going on, and to care more about Puerto Rico's council than your own celebration. It's why you are so very good at what you do, and they will miss you far more than they know right now!
Have a grand day, and a lovely time away with your DH. I think of you often as I navigate my way through this maze, and you are an inspiration. Only six years until I can do the same!
Love,
Lisa in NC5 -
Thank you all for your lovely comments on DDIL.
If you have time, could you go back and "like" it, as it makes such a difference to the algorithms.
She was sooooooooooooo nervous about the whole thing. It was a big deal. She signed up for it because she was terrified and thought it would be good to stretch her comfort zone. Months of writing the speech, hundreds of rehearsals. She had help from a "mentor" who worked with her on Skype. Plus all the logistics of getting to Cyprus for four days when you've got three small children! My son, who was sitting in the audience, was so nervous for her that he hardly heard her speech at all, it's a complete blank! She had never spoken in public before.
I managed to catch it live as we had just got home from handing the grandchildren over to her parents. They missed it as they were looking after the kids. I was sooooooo nervous for her myself! The start was delayed as they did a warm up session , so they were running behind schedule. I could feel the tension mounting!
It was a great experience for her.
She has written 7 books using CBT methods, the latest one is about sleep. All available on Kindle etc.
Not heard anything yet about the house.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx8 -
