Good morning Ladies!

I was up early this morning with the hub. I weighed in and was down 1.2 lbs!! Yeah!! A loss of 1.4 for the week, which was about what I expected. Since I was up, I got my steps in early and now I can relax with my yogurt.

Yeah for warmer weather to get the kiddos outside KJ. I know you’ll rock your home visit this week!

I hope your visit goes well Sharon and you get some help. Good luck to your daughter on her Art exhibit.

Heather, much good fortune to you on your house hunting trip, hope you find exactly the right one.

Kylia, welcome back!

My daughter and I finally sat down and had the heart-to-heart we needed yesterday before the kids were up and around, and more than a few tears were shed. Found out that my son told her that he was a higher priority to us as he is suicidal, and she's just got kids, so isn't as important. Horrified by it, but not bracing him with that until I see him in person, partially because of his own fragility right now, and partially because what she heard isn't necessarily what he said. Interpretation is always an interesting sort of conundrum between any two people. The tears washed away a lot of the recent tension for both of us, I think, and that was the overall aim of the conversation. I'm aware that my son's using the threat of suicide as manipulation, but don't know if he knows we know.

Wow, that got a little circular.

One of the things my son said to me about his sister a week or so ago made me cackle. "I always keep things inside, and dam them up, but she's pretty much only got one stick to her beaver dam." It was far too apt for comfort, but funny as all get out, nonetheless. Considering I didn't get them until he was 15 and she was 17, they both mirror me in ways that can get hilarious. Points up my failings on occasion as well, both as a human being and as a parent, but I try to take it with a grain of salt.

And, speaking of salt, ended up eating a few saltine crackers last night to settle my upset stomach from a restaurant meal that was within my diet plan, but had far more fat than I'm used to. And, this morning, ended up quite swelly, rings tight, and up in weight about a half pound. I knew better, but that's OK, it will come back off by tomorrow, most likely. I'm at my one-month mark on the plan, I'm down 11.5 pounds, and I'm OK with that. The Dukan Diet is supposed to drop an average of .33 pounds a day, which would put me at 10.2 pounds, so I'm where I'm supposed to be. Would be extremely happy with the same weight loss in March.

Speaking of which, time to go run... still staying about 1.5 miles in 25-30 minutes, and happy with doing that anytime my knees will let me. Which is about twice a week right now. Hope to work it up to three times a week as the weight drops off, and elliptical in between.

Michele ... I have never weighed what the MFP genie predicts in "five weeks" either ... but if the numbers are on a downward trend each day, then I'm happy.

Speaking of which, I'm down 2.5 pounds this week ... having followed CICO ... "for just one day" ... for several days. Not all of them, but enough of them.

Espiem7 ... welcome! Focus on today. Just on what you an do today!

Our first day of touring was only about 40 km, but coming 2 days after the 215 km ride, plus being on gravel in the hot sun, it was a bit of a struggle. I actually wondered briefly about the wisdom of doing this particular tour. In just a couple days time, the length of the rides would increase!

However, we made it to the end of our first day, got some much needed cold drinks (coke) and citrus ice creams, and felt much better. We relaxed for a while in our cabin watching the Olympics, then went out for dinner and followed it by a walk through the local wetlands. When we lived in that area, we'd never visited the wetlands so we figured we finally would! It was lovely in there with lots of birds and one brown snake. Poisonous, of course.

The next day we were on our way to Alexandra. First it was up and through the Cheviot Tunnel ...

It is quite a long tunnel and gets very dark soon after entering, so we were glad of our lights.

From there we descended and then climbed again to the lookout over the Alexandra area, and then descended into Alexandra.

We wandered the main street of town, checking everything out. I liked this ... a kangaroo made from a bicycle wheel.

Then we visited friends we hadn't seen in some time, we cycled roads we haven't cycled in a few years, and later in the evening we rode out to spend the evening with more friends.

We do miss that part of the world. I'm not sure if we would want to move back there or not. I think if we came into some money or retired, it would be a very good location ... but it is a bit difficult to find work there.

Day 3 was a longer day. First we cycled to another friend's place and she showed me how to spin! I wasn't very good at it, but I could see how someone might get into it.

Then the route took us mostly, gradually uphill to Mansfield. Fortunately, it was a little bit cooler and somewhat overcast. One highlight of this leg of the journey is the long bridge across Lake Eildon.

Since the trail is gravel/chert, and since it was still fairly warm and humid, what you can't see in the photo below is that my legs are covered in dust/dirt which puffs up when we cycle through it, and sticks to my sweaty legs.

Hi ladies,

Joyce, hope your sister’s knee surgery goes well. I had both of mine replaced at the same time. My advice is to be faithful to the physical therapy so that she will have good range of motion after. Is there another forum that you can send her to if you don’t want her on this one? Maybe WW will work better for her. Everyone has to do it their own way.

JaneQP, welcome to the group. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you would like to be called. If you can share where you are from too it helps to keep everyone straight as there care quite a few of us.

Espiem7, I know how hard it is to lose after 50. I’d start with my dr and make sure there isn’t anything else going on that would hinder the weight lose. Also, focus on how you feel when you eat better instead of the weight. I hear your hopelessness and I think all of us in this group has felt it at one point. Tell us a little bit about yourself and where you need help. This is a good group for support and encouragement.

Barbara, that’s great that Joe is trying to eat healthy. If he continues, I think that will help you as well.

Wendy, that must have been so scary to look outside and see that and not know what is going on. Glad everyone was safe.

Sharon, good for you getting back on track. Yes, 15yo are hard to talk to. But you keep talking.

NYKaren, Yeah on the 1 lb!

Lisa, so glad you had the hear to heart with your daughter and cleared the air. Sounds like she was holding on to some hurtful feelings. Glad you could set everything straight. I think you are wise to wait until you see your son to talk with him about it. Face to face is always the way to go as then nothing is read into your words. ((Hugs)).

Well, this weekend came and went quickly. Busy on Saturday and Sunday just laid low and rested my ankle. I’m thinking I need to plan a getaway soon. I’m ready to get away for a few days. Going to put my thinking cap on and see where we could go.

Good morning!

We saw 6 houses over the weekend and bid on 1 of them. Countered another bid with owners last evening. Whoop whoop and they accepted! It's an interesting situation that totally works to our advantage. They want to close quickly and then rent back from us. We have this rental house until July. So they will sign a rental agreement with us and vacate the home near the end of May. Their rent will cover our rent and more! Sweet deal for us. Lots of inspections and paperwork but hopefully this is our #homesweetTexashome!

Esplem7: You have found a great group of supportive women. It seems like your sense of hopelessness may stem from a medical problem & you should consider seeing a good doctor. We can help with weight loss. It is all about Calories In and Calories out. Let MFP set your calorie goal. They are very good at that. As your weight comes down, they will reduce the amount of calories you are allowed. Purchase a food scale and measure your portions. Move more. There are lots of good choices. Walking is a good place to start. I love yoga, and ride a stationary bike at the gym. I also ride horses. Barbie loves to dance and walk her dogs. Sue likes to swim. Machka is a long distance competitive bike rider. Pip is also a bike rider. There are many good choices and the ones that you find pleasant & fun are the best choices for you.

Snow is gone and we have fog this morning. I haven't decided what to do today, although we may be including a trip to Les Schwab for a battery for DH's car. It has been a very long time since I went to the stable to see Arrow. I will be putting that on my schedule for this week.

Gained a pound according to new scale. My fault for night eating and giving in to emotional eating. I have to get back to it or the downward spiral will continue.

With that said, time to go for my walk...

Curious... do/did you pluck your eyebrows? I did the day of my wedding and maybe once or twice In High school. It hurt.

Friend’s jaw dropped to the floor when I said I didn’t/don’t. She said she never realized some women did not pluck their eyebrows regularly. My jaw dropped at that.

Rye ... I had to pluck around the age of 15 ... I had a unibrow ... and did so for many, many years. But haven't done so in probably 10 years. Drives my hairdresser nuts!

Rye - it's so funny you'd ask that, my daughter just went for her monthly eyebrow waxing, and I'd honestly rather eat dirt than have someone put hot wax near my eyeballs! I pluck mine semi-regularly, that being every six to eight weeks, but they don't grow terribly fast, and the older I get, the less they seem to grow.

Plucking. No. I have virtually no eyebrows. I did pluck a couple of times in high school, but not excessively thin, just strays outside of normal eyebrows. They fell out after I married hubs so I blame him. A waxy eyebrow pencil is my best friend! Stays on in water.
