Karen - No that's gone.
Probably just as well as the work required was major. But it did have two parking spaces.
The one we are looking at on Monday is in the next road. That area, our very favourite, is about half an hours walk from the grandchildren. Perfect for walking off my son's dinners, or fish and chips!
Rori - So happy your retirement is coming together. I'm sure your caregiving role is not easy, but you are moving into it with care and grace. I also believe you will know when you have to release the major part of that. I would so love to go to the Home exhibition with you!
When I was a child our family went every year to the Ideal Homes exhibition in Earls Court in London. I loved it and it was an occasion when I felt close to my mum. I'm sure there is much perusal of home magazines in my future!

A round of home decorating magazines for Rori, Heather and me, please, and a "Babies-R-Us" catalog for KayKallsen!
I find, knowing that I'm about to leave, that the little things get MORE noticeable and irksome instead of less. However, I'm able to deal with them better because I know I'm going... Things like not feeling free to adjust the thermostat, as it's neither my home nor my electric bill. Things like my daughter's habit of leaving a load in the washer for days, and she's very picky about what things get dried, along some rulebook of her own devise, so just shifting them into the dryer isn't an option. Little stuff.
Please don't get me wrong, I'm not unhappy, just ready to be back in control of my own surroundings! Next Friday will be four months we've been here, and six weeks left to departure day... for me, at least. If our son-in-law isn't back on the day they're forecasting now, he will be within four to five weeks, and Corey will stay to help out until he's back, as that was our commitment. So I may be rattling around in a big old house by myself for a few weeks. Here's hoping things work out. Trying to convince Corey to at least consider having our daughter get daycare for the Friday and Monday and driving the panel trailer across, and then flying back for the last few weeks, but he's digging in his heels. We'll decide once we know what's happening with our returning soldier.
Rori - Diane was completely relaxed about me moving again, and simply said, "I know the CEO there, and she'll try to steal you. That is NOT happening, so don't let them know you're there!" So funny, and a big compliment. Diane's my boss, for those who don't know. Rori works for Girl Scouts' national organization, and I work for the desert southwest council--a connection she helped me make a year and a half ago. I am still, and always will be, grateful. May 1 is a year I've been on the job, and two massive moves... it's an interesting life!
And as far as the "sight unseen," it truly is. Looked it up on Google Earth, because, well, that just makes sense. Can't quite tell by the numbering whether it's the house just left of center, or the house just right of center completely surrounded by trees... you can see a roofline up there, with a couple cars parked next to it. Hoping for the one on the left, as it overlooks a pond... but we'll find out when we get there! And they can't get inside to take pictures, as the renters are still in, so no clue... The description says, "This 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home has two large living areas, both good for entertaining. It has a 2 car garage and a covered back porch, with lots of yard in the front and back for room to move about." So, plenty of room for a home office for me! And, as promised, they've taken it down from all rental sites on the web, as they have our deposit.

Day 4!! Today was our longest day of cycling. Hot and muggy but mostly overcast. Lots of downhill, but still a few climbs to tire the legs.
But we are enjoying summer!! We don't get much of a summer back in Tasmania.

Lisa- Hooray for finding your "home for now"! got a giggle from your DD's laundry habit. My DD does the same thing. Maybe it is a generational thing? I bite my tongue now when I visit, because she has heard me say many times,"When you do that your clothes will smell funky!" She knows. But she still does it.
Kay-Congrats on your new granddaughter!!!Post pics if you are so inclined (we love babies)!
Machka- We need to mount a Go-Pro on your helmet so you can take us with you on these epic bike races!
Terry, Janet, and other egg people- My sister in law used to paint eggs. She would blow out the egg through a little pin hole, then using wax and paint create a gorgeous layered look. I think it is a Ukranian artform? I can't remember, it has been a few years. She is now working with horse hair. She makes jewlery and pottery from her horses hair and from other people's horse's hair. She made necklaces for the U.S. equestrian team when they sent her snips of their horse's tail hair.
Janet- I remember those beautiful jewelry Christmas trees! Those were stunning!
Should be a slower day today; only three kiddos (all boys). The girls are taking long weekends with their families. SO...nothing new so far for me. DD contacted me last night and one of her friends is a professor at U of Wisconsin and asked if she could use Joaquin as a "development" subject in her child development classes. DD will send little 30 second video snippets of him doing different things to show the students different milestones. This friend specifically wanted Joaquin because he is growing up in a bilingual household and she wants to especially document his language development. I think this is fantastic, because this was something that one of my classes talked about in regards to brain development in infant/toddlers. DD is worried it will show Joaquin is behind, developmentally(most new parents worry about this), but I had to reassure her that his language development likely will be behind as his brains "sorts" through the two different languages. She asked me to work with her on it (over Skype) this weekend. Yea! Fun stuff!
That's all I've got for now. Oh! I watched Moana last night for the first time. I liked that Waaay better than Frozen (which I didn't like at all). I think my favorite of the newer Disney girls is Merida from Brave. What can I say, I like a good strong girl character with no interest in getting married.

However, I'm not racing, I'm touring.
On Sunday we did an Audax/Randonneuring event (timed long distance ride) but since then we've been touring at a much more relaxed pace.

Rori Hooray for extended health insurance. Loved the water fitness classes I took when I retired. No therapy pool here so it's T'ai Chi twice weekly.
Read 'em all but finally too sleepy to respond.
Anyone experience bitter taste staying in mouth for days? At first thought it was 'cuz our water filter needed changing, but persists even though I've switched to bottled water ;(
Time to snooze so can get up soon to meditate, shower and prep for T'ai Chi.

Well ladies after I feed DFIL I'm going over to the vet in the next town over..they are looking for someone full time,for daycare, reception and kennels and I could bring Alfie..sounds ideal,wish me luck...11 -
Barbara- what kind of diet are you eating? If you eat a Keto diet that will happen at first because of excess ketones being released. Also I found this information.

Dana, too bad you have to pay taxes this year. I go to have mine done on Saturday. We always get something back, I think because we both claim “0” on our W4. We take the standard deduction too. Fingers crossed we get enough back to get that new stove.
Rori, 5 DAYS!!! YEAH!!! Sounds like you are planning for when it happens. Good for you. And being able to continue health insurance is awesome.

Lisa, I can understand why you are anxious to move. It’s like staying at someone’s house while on vacation. You never quite feel at home. Hope the time goes fast for you. Clothes in the washer for days?! Don’t they start to get moldy? I’d have to wash them again.

I've just done Day 1 of Week 9 of c25k. :drinker: that's 5 mins walk, 30 mins run, 5 mins walk. All good. This is the final week, I do that 2 more times and then I'm finished. Of course, I'm nowhere near 5k because of my slow jog. But I am beyond pleased with myself. I have never in my life run for as long, as I have never been able to run with knees, hips etc. Ever. (Well, when I was very young, but even then my hip pulled me up)
Next week I will try to run 5k. Unfortunately my new GPS watch won't function without being updated by the computer and my computer is so old that it didn't upload the driver properly. So no functioning GPS yet. I'm going to bite the bullet and drag out my Windows 10 laptop that I bought over a year ago and never used and see if I can sync it to the watch. Grrrrrrrrrr! So frustrating. I HATE technology!
You would be very amused at me singing out some of the words to the tunes as I run - "Freedom!", "Stronger!", "Get out of my way!", "I'm a rebel just for kicks now!" Sense a theme going on.? :laugh:

Kelly ~ Interesting about the horse hair jewelry. Long ago, it was popular to weave departed loved ones hair into jewelry. My great grandmother had a horse hair sofa in her home.

Good morning ladies! I have a very busy day planned today. First I will be doing my kettle bell routine followed by laundry. I guess today will also be my cleaning day. We will be getting ready to go to Las Vegas early tomorrow morning. Shep will be at camp Bow Wow again. So glad we found a place that I can actually watch him at least I think I might be watching him LOL! We will be meeting my son and daughter-in-law and extended family. After I drop Shep off we will be hiking the Astrellia mountain with two very nice couples we have met here. We will probably go out to supper with them when we are finished. I love to go to Golden corral. They have a very large selection of fatty proteins that I love to eat! I usually go for steak, ribs, chicken and fish! I'm so glad that I found the keto eating plan because it really fits in to what we like to eat. Fat in and the fat on our bodies just melts off! Amazing! After we get home we will go jump in the pool and hot tub for a relaxing evening.

Hi ladies,
WI was today. I GAINED 2 pounds. I don't know how. I've been sticking to my calories and not going over. I haven't exercised as heavily because of being sick last week, but I've still been doing yoga and walking for 30 minutes every day. O well, I guess I'll have to exercise more and eat less. This seems to happen every time I hit a certain weight. I plateau or start gaining. Have a great day.
