I assume you are somewhere near a larger city and/or in the north / northeast part of US? Of course I haven’t looked for a curling club - there could be one near me for all I know0 -

It's fun to watch and do. Scoring is tough to figure out. I was up late watching the ice dancing. It was my first sport of choice0 -

Hammer means you have the last rock in that end so it's an advantage
Hog line is the line it has it make it over to count

Yes you want to get closest to the button or middle if the centre ring which is the 4 foot. Foe scoring you start with the rock closest to the button and work your way out until you get to a rock of another colour0

Yes. Usually they'll throw guards first so just outside the rings so you can tuck rocks behind them so they're protected0
