Just checking in, ladies. I have been reading and my heart goes out to Sharon, Allie, Matchka and so many dealing with crises right now. And a shout out to the people who have been through horrible experiences and still are here living and breathing among us and able to write about it. Also, to my sisters on here who know the hell on earth that is anxiety disorder. My trip is like a roller coaster this time. Yesterday was sheer hell but I held on but just barely. Today I am managing to make it through a whole work day. Still logging but I confess some days I am lying and adjusting the numbers up so MFP will let me complete for the day. Sending prayers out to you all and if anyone cares to send some back I would be most appreciative. Love,

Four weeks ago, I gave up process foods and since then I had been feeling so good - process meaning no processed sugar, no oils, no pre-packaged meals, and no junk. Then Friday and Saturday I fell off the wagon and "indulged".
I've been paying for it ever since, first by retaining fluids, then today having my first a massive migraine in over three weeks. Thankfully my migraine meds have kicked in to take care of the second.
Good reminder how important it is to eat well!11 -

Did 5 minutes hula hoop (but I still got a good ab workout picking it up off the floor….lol), held my plank for 3 minutes and then took the extremepump class. The plan for tomorrow is to do some HIIT
Kylia – did those cabinets come that way? They look exactly like ours, only ours have door/drawer pulls. I wonder if that’s an add-on. Or maybe do those cabinet doors have some sort of depression in the top so you can open them? That place looks so nice. I agree with you that carpeting isn’t made to last. We have a carpet in our dining room that’s at least 30-40 years old and it’s just now starting to show wear. Yet, we have carpeting in the bedroom that’s only 10 years old and it looks awful. We’re going to have the Newcomer board meeting of the new board and the old board at our house Wednesday. I’d like to take the carpeting up in one area and put wood flooring there. So….we’re having the meeting downstairs (where there’s more room). My hope is that someone will drop something and Vince will think the rug looks so horrible he’ll switch to flooring. I hope, I hope.
Katla – I remember being at my mother’s funeral. Not that I remembered a lot about it, but I was there. I’m glad I was there, I would have really been upset if my father hadn’t let me be there.
Okie – how wonderful that your hubby will eat whatever! Wish Vince would. That’ll make it easy for you
Julie – you joined by posting! Welcome!
KJ – back before Jess was born and Vince went away for the week, we had an Old English Sheepdog. Talk about big! It was 140lbs. Anyway, one night someone came to the door around midnight saying that their battery ran dead and could they use my phone to call the police. Well…they took one look at that big dog and decided that it would be OK for me to call the police….lol Not that the dog would have done anything, he probably would have licked them to death. But the sight of a large dog made them not want to come in the house. Would they have done something? I don’t know, never did find out.
Grace – welcome back! Happy annniversary. We’re here for you every step of the way
I won’t say that I’m alcohol free, but I’m not a big drinker at all. I probably have a glass of wine a few times a year, mainly on holidays
Lanette – how I wish we could claim the cats on our taxes!!!! The medical expenses alone.
Rye – you are a true inspiration! Thanks so much for sharing with us. It really helps (at least me but I’m sure you’re helping others on here, too)
Lenora – how nice that your friend took you out
Exercised, stopped at Salvation Army and am mad at myself for not buying this one item, bowling, ceramics, then mahjongg
KJ – those kids were sure having a blast. Thanks for the pics
Katla – feel better fast
Allie – glad it’s all over for you

Yvonne had spinach for lunch!
Taxes are done and turned in today!
I went to Zumba and then yoga. I do what poses I can and then just lay there and follow my breath. It gives me a place I can just be still and tune into me.

Those kids are adorable, what a great idea! I was planning to have spinach with supper too, b4 I saw the post . Did walk the dog today, but sticking around the house now that hubby is home from the hospital after open heart surgery. We're both eating better, even b4 surgery, and I am soooo glad to have MFP for support. I wish I had found it years ago, my son recommended it. He's lost 12 pounds so far. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and struggles, I hope you have a great day8

Michelle that story with the dog really spooks me. Glad you had the intimidating gentle giant by your side. I’d love a dog, and a really big one at that, but honestly don’t know if we’d make good and responsible dog parents. And we are afraid that a dog ( any size) would freak our kitties.
Does anyone have/had a mixed household? Feline and canine? How did you manage it?2 -
Ate spinach today too4

Spinach Lately I’ve been steam cooking Frozen Spinach in the microwave with ( frozen precooked) Chicken. When it is heated I squeeze 1/2 lemon fresh lemon juice on it and some orange/lemon/pepper mixed spice ground on top. If I have the calories that day maybe a little avocado oil too. It is quite yummy, nutritious and low calorie and has quite a protein punch!
Another spinach goto is warming it with onions in the meat juice/frond left from searing red meat on the stove top.
And baby spinach is my preferred salad green.
Spinach can also be thrown into a smoothie for nutrients - and you would never even know it was there.
I love spinach with mozzarella or ricotta stuffed into things but have not yet successfully mastered cooking a cheese/spinach item.
I do so love my spinach.

Kylia, I love your luxury vinyl planks. That’s what I want for my kitchen, but that is project number three on the list and we have to save for hardwoods in the living room and bedrooms first. Right now we have to get the bathrooms paid for and see how much money we have left in the home repair fund. I have to tell myself the same thing about remodeling that I do about food. I can have anything I want. I just can’t have everything I want. At least not all at once.
Carol, I love your floors, too. We picked our current kitchen floor because it blended in with our dirt so well. It has served us well. It is 16 years old and doesn’t really look bad now. It is starting to pull away from the wall in the utility room, but will really be fine for another year or so until we can replace it.
More later,
K

I jumped on the spinach bandwagon. Did a quick sauté with a very small amount of olive oil. I almost always have spinach in the fridge.

Add me in about floor coverings I have tiles throughout the main areas and want to extend them to the 2 living rooms as we have 2 dogs but....as the tiles are not being made anymore, I would have to pull up all the tiles and redo them
Kelly -
I will introduce to mine at the end of the post. I constantly sweep up their hair but I love them to bits
Lanette
Totally agree with you - our dogs are our babies (very demanding babies)
Allie
I hope you are treated more than fairly - My thoughts are with you UPDATE - Glad it is all over and now you can feel free
Lenora
Thanks for the bolding suggestions - it was very helpful as I am still new to this
Sharon
I read somewhere recently that if a person brings looks at their phone or answers calls whilst chatting to you is now call phubbing - it is a mixture of the words phone and snubbing. I showed it to my son who always has a phone in his hand and now he make a conscious effort not to do it to me> Sorry to hear the upset.
Waiting for NBN guy to come and upgrade my internet. They give you 4 hour windows, so it is a mattyer of just waiting. Going to make a passionfruit slice today and prep dinner. I have to go to the dentist - he wants to do 2 crowns as one tooth just aches allthe time and he thinks it is coming from another tooth
Here are my dogs. Both working dogs who run with sheep on the weekend, but are mine during the week
11 -
Trisha -- OMG I love your border collies! Are you on a sheep farm? My DH and I had a small farm we sold ten years ago, raised sheep. Didn't have border collies but buyers would sometimes bring them to load the sheep into their trucks and trailers. I swear, it was a miracle watching those little dogs back those ewes up the loading chute.
Good luck with the dentist! I was in the same shape with my old dentist tying to talk me into two crowns and root canals because of constant pain in one of the teeth, not sure which. That dentist's office ticked me off (painful shot givers) so I went to a new dentist - lo and behold, he looked at his X-rays and said there was nothing evident to warrant all of that work and expense like cracked roots, infection, etc. and to cause that pain.
I walked out of there and they haven't hurt since!
The only thing I can think of is that for a while I was really chomping a lot of almonds and kind of hard nuts which might have inflamed everything. Since I don't do that very often anymore, that helps as well.
Hope the internet guy made it!
Allie - so glad for you it's all over and that you and Tom are remaining friends.
Kelly - darn it, I wanted to jump right in that sandbox with those kids. What fun! The prospect of getting a furbaby is exciting!
I decided to get back on the low-sugar bandwagon a few days ago and also the IF (intermittent fasting) plan of not eating 3 hours before bedtime and a 12 hour break between dinner and breakfast the following morning. Yes, I start looking for something to eat after dinner (which is at 4:30 or before since I go to bed early and get up early). I decided to find satisfying things with no sugar like hummus on Ezekial toast - 130 calories, 4 or 5 grams fiber and NO sugar. Tonight I just had a teaspoon of crunchy almond butter - a local shop makes it on the premises so it's nice and fresh.
RunningMaven - oh yes, I've suffered as well falling off the wagon with migraines and feeling crappy after cutting back on sugar. When will we ever learn? Going to keep plenty of the no sugar high protein/fat foods around. I used to fret about 100 calories of peanut butter, yet could easily eat a couple Reese cups, an ice cream bar and three big cookies in the span of about fifteen minutes before bed. DUH! So peanut and almond butter it shall be.
Have a good evening!
Lanette
