@tiabirdie56 - I am just recording how much I drink. I usually also have a glass or 2 overnight that I don't record.
PS - do we count coffee and tea or not? Just pure water?0 -
@eminater, I usually only count pure water, but I think and definitely have read that ALL fluids count. Some days I just cannot drink more than 64 ozs of water. I don't know why. These are the times that I count all liquids. For this challenge though, it's only pure water that's recorded.
I guess I will update my post from May and join you here.

@eminator, A gallon of water every day truly is not necessary. It can deplete you of essential electrolytes. Drinking that much water is valuable for rehydration if you have been dehydrated for a while, or for flushing excess water from your system. If you feel hungry between meals, drinking water will fill you up. Your body shows you if you need more water through your urine color. Pale yellow, hydrated, clear, too much hydration, anything from dark yellow to brown, get out the gallon bottle! If you take B vitamins, your urine will be yellow, but an artificial looking yellow. When I was younger, everyone followed, drink half your body weight in water to assist weightloss. That could be too much also.
Learn your thirst cues. If you feel thirsty, don't ignore it. Notice urine color, your skin, is it dry? Bodyaches, your kidneys. If they have a feeling of achiness, drink more water. All fluids count, as long as they are mostly water and not full of milk, sugar, etc. Black coffee, green tea. Pure water is essential. No more than 16 ozs/ 470 ml an hour.0 -

@eminater, Thank you for being understanding. Well we can post to each other here on this thread to be accountable. But, I don't think it's necessary to drink a gallon of water everyday. Let your thirst and your body command. For me, the amount of water needed varies each day, depending on other fluid intake and whether I have eaten vegetables or fruit full of water, the ambient temperature and how much I sweat during exercise. People are odd about drinking water. Some want to drink it and just don't drink enough. Some people actually hate drinking water, which is really peculiar. They see it as a good idea to track their water intake, join a challenge, then don't do it. Same with exercise.0
