I'm not making a moral judgment about "high cal/ low nutrient food" - I limit it because I refuse to go to bed hungry as that messes up my sleep.
When I do this it's usually ice cream which for me has enough fat and protein to keep me satisfied. Plus my other meals when I do this tend to be nutritionally balanced with a good amount of fiber and protein so I don't feel lacking in any way.
How much protein is in your ice cream and what brand is it?0 -
The one that eats high cal/ low nutrient foods but in a deficit. I want to try things and if a frappacino (sp?) takes up my dinner calories, so be it. Not always, but some days.
I am not misled about what cico means
I may move towards more nutrient dense options, but I am breaking one habit at a time.
I am also that one friend with the cluttered car.

I get the Ben and Jerry's froyo and usually end up eating the whole pint so it's around 20 grams of protein and 12 grams of fat. Like I said as well I make sure I get enough protein and nutritious food the rest of the day when I do this so I feel fine.3 -
I am that person sometimes. I like vegetables and generally nutritious foods, so I don't have to work hard to include them, I just eat them out of habit because that's how I eat. I do have days where my nutrition is horror. I had funnel cake for dinner once. There was a day where I had nothing for breakfast, chips and chocolate for lunch, and instant noodles for dinner. Cake for breakfast also happens after birthdays and major holidays. This doesn't happen often, but I couldn't care less that it happens sometimes.5

I was not really hungry, but you have a good point.
I wanted to try their newest flavor, but it was not what i expected, so I will stick to less caloric drinks3 -
My ice cream is called Cool Way (Canada). I eat the whole freakin pint!
Depending on the flavour about:
90 calories per serving
2.5 g fat per serving
7 g protein per serving
I eat 4 , 125 ml serving.4 -

I'll speak for myself on this one. There are days where I'm not really hungry and could take it or leave it, so milkshake for dinner is no different than chicken and potatoes for dinner satiety-wise. There are also days where my desire for something trumps hunger, so I choose to be a little hungry over not having the choice I want. I would skip a meal or two, for example, to go out to a restaurant and order whatever I want a few times a year.6 -
Just added you! I eat pizza every single Monday for dinner and I still eat fast food, drink beer, etc. and am having no trouble losing weight because I've scaled back so that I'm still eating a deficit.
I have also been known to eat DQ blizzards and bacon for dinner on more than one occasion4 -

I've been in maintenance for several years... I don't eat breakfast often, but this morning I made room for an apple fritter from Dunkin Donuts (which, unfortunately wasn't as good as I wanted it to be doggonit), and I have been known to eat a pint of Halo Top for breakfast (they have a waffle pancake one that is freaking awesome)... I was trying to figure out what to have for dinner... I think you might be on to something!

I eat high cal/ low nutrient foods while NOT in a deficit. ::shrug::2

I had an ice cream sundae for lunch yesterday because it was free in our cafeteria for employee appreciation. No shame in the calorie counting game! CICO works for me!2

Hi! I just had a chocolate chip muffin for breakfast, ate fudge, doritos + cookies yesterday (among other things), and I have a.) maintained a healthy weight for 15+ years after a 50 pound loss with b.) no health problems. So which friend am I?11 -

I don't worry overly much about my macros either, and my blood work is perfectly fine. As @sagepeach says, losing weight usually helps with health issues... At least she can control her issues with weight loss.

The friend with no health problems? The friend who lucked out in the gene pool draw?

Hopefully the weight loss will fix the health issues. If it doesn't, then paying attention to nutrients will provide further help1 -

The OP doesn’t always choose “junk food.” She does “some days.” It sounds like a moderate, common sensical approach. It’s much better than giving up all treats and then bingeing on them later like I would.

Baby steps, for sure. Eventually, a calorie-controlled diet of fast food and frozen dinners lost its appeal to me, but it was still the best thing I ever did for myself. It was a stepping stone to learning about portions and nutrition, which ultimately resulted in a more balanced and healthful diet overall, on my own terms.12

I love "junk" food. Kale needs to be kept as the pretty boarders at buffets, and quinoa looks exactly like what I put in my bird feeders.
I'm the person who has an egg and a slice of toast for breakfast, flaked salmon on greens for dinner, all so I can have a brisket burger & a beer for lunch.
I have also lost 175lbs not eating "clean". Giving up foods I love made me miserable (why every diet I have ever been on failed), I just learn to eat in moderation and find a way to work my treats into my day.
I love you2 -

I read various threads on here how some are so strict, weighing every tiny microgram, at the gym for hours. I don’t eat “clean” lol. I do workout in the mornings - mainly so I can add in my treats or a splurge meal on the weekend
I am with you on that. Sorry, but no, I am not about to weigh out 4 slices of cucumber that I put on my taco, that's just ridiculous.
Yep, I figure out the calories in my treat that I want, then hit my treadmill for a little more than the calories in my treats.1 -

Most of the time it’ll sate me... depends on what else I’ve eaten0 -

Nope, cucumbers on tacos is actually Mexican. Cheddar cheese & lettuce are purely an American thing and would never be found on a taco in Mexico (unless they are catering to foreigners). Also flour tortillas, not Mexican either. I live 5 minutes from the US/Mexico boarder.3
