Question: Is taking a shower after a workout safe? How many minutes should you wait to take a shower after you exercise? TIA

I am not sure of any circumstances where it might not be safe. If you're really tired, I guess?
Post work out shower is my reward for finishing my workout. LOL.9 -
100% safe (as long as you don't slip and fall in the shower). Shower whenever you want to shower. There are no adverse effects from showering at any time before or after a workout.4

What is the safety concern?14

Yes. But only if you wait 5.7643 minutes. At 5.7644 minutes you lose the gains from that days workout.
True story.26 -
Its not if you've done a heavy leg day. Wait a few hours until you know you won't be wobbly. Otherwise, go for it. Please.

I suddenly find my question quite funny lol, I just remember some myths I heard from some people before that it's not safe to do so as you might get some sort of musculoskeletal spasm. But yeah, as long as you don't slip and fall in the shower... Thanks guys!14

But it's ok to get in your car and drive home after the gym?! :huh:13 -

That's OK. When I was in Jr. High the myth that your shouldn't wash your hair during your period was still a firmly held belief by everyone's grandma. Nobody could ever say why, it was just so
eta: thanks for starting a fun thread - Thursdays can be boring8 -

I do remember hearing something like that a long time ago; in the 80s maybe.
FWIW, I find that a shower helps me loosen up even more after a workout particularly my feet which tend to cramp during my cooldown.1 -
Does Norman Bates (or his mother) go to this gym?14

Well this is a new one!2

Story time:
Was in locker room taking a shower. I hear moaning. I'm like, okay, maybe they really like the water pressure or the heat. Then, more moaning. I'm like, well, that's excessive. Then, "oh, kitten, that feels so good." Etc., etc. not even whispering.
I exit shower. 99% sure there were more than one person in the moaner shower stall and/or, she really couldn't wait to get home.
Please, if you take these types of showers, wait until you get home.

I just mentioned to my daughter the other day how much I love taking a shower after a hard workout. Such a contrast from sweaty, icky to sweet and smooth. Love the feeling!2

OK, I thought I'd seen all the bizarro questions that could be asked here. But I was wrong. Very, very wrong.12

It's a highly entertaining question, so I'm glad you asked it. There is so much misinformation out there. It's a good thing to ask yourself if it makes sense.4 -
I guess competitive swimming should have been banned long ago because of this concern.5

I do keto showers where I use at least 120 grams of water, but no soap.27

This is like issuing a challenge.9 -
It's safe but I think you sweat for 15 minutes after a workout, so you might want to cool off first, if you can.5

And what was his BMR while he was dead? Is it still a cheat day if he eats a whole pizza while looking at the week view? Does raising the dead take a lot of protein?6 -

I did hear one particularly unpleasant story about a post game shower during a rugby tour which involved a soap-on-a-rope..... :noway:
But unless you are sharing your shower with several boisterous rugby players you should be ok.6
