For a kitchen ladder.

Not given her no hugs. She's mean to me
That's ok. I hug you all the time anyway Unless I'm wooing you.
Well, stop it. We're both married......
I hug you guys all the time, the world is not ready to understand our love.

It's my mother's fault I'm not 6'. My dad comes from a family of giants (I have a 3rd cousin who's 6'11") even though he's the shorty of the family at 5'11". Mom, however, she's 4'10". Her mom...4'6".
It could have been worse! At least you wound up closer to his height than her's.
True!!0 -
There was a parody called "Tall people", but it never caught on as we all know being tall is better than being short.

I'm 5'9", and hubby claims 5'7" like @pinuplove claims 5'3".
lol fist bump to him.1 -

I have my physical Tuesday - I’m going to have them measure me. Maybe I’m not 5’5” any more since I turned 60? That would suck!1
-
I have been almost 5'1" 1/2 since I was about 20. After last year's neck surgery I got measured at exactly 5'1" 1/2. After this year's neck surgery I am hoping I will make it to 5'1" 3/4. I'll take all the fractions of inches I can get!
And I am very considerate - when tall people get stuff off the top shelf for me at the grocery store I always offer to get stuff off the bottom shelves for them.5 -

True. We should probably just bubble wrap her.
No lie, I think I broke my foot falling down the 3 stairs to the garage last year Nothing there, didn't trip, just...fell. It was swollen and all kinds of pretty colors for weeks.
I regularly sprained my ankles as a child. As an adult, I've tripped over my own feet and invisible lines more often than I care to admit. I'm a little worried for my elder years.
Maybe it's good not to be very tall: Lower center of gravity, less far to fall.
My 6' rowing double partner has flipped more single shells by far than I have: Pair a high center of gravity with a tendency to tense up when something untoward happens, and you swim lots more often when rowing. She also falls more, and further.
Full disclosure: I'm 5'5" at last measuring a few years back, down from 5'6" in youth. Not sure I want to know current. 5'5-6" seems medium-ish, something this thread is making me feel good about.
Hugs - per the OP request - Pinuplove!3 -
Every time I get measured they give me a different number 5’6” to 5’7”.
Shorter people are not persecuted lol!🤪1 -
Meh, I am 5 feet. I used to hate being short because kids teased me when I was younger. Now I accept and embrace it.2
-
Must be looking extra short today. Random person in Walmart asked if I needed help reaching the handsoap that was one shelf above eye-level I think I can manage that12
-
I'm 5ft 2.2 ( up from 5ft 1.8 go me)
I found it helps to date short guys (5ft 3-4) then I feel perfectly normal
My ex was 6ft 4 and thought it was funny to put me over his shoulder 🙄1 -

my best friend:
Used daily for 10-15 minutes with various balance exercises. Seriously strengthened the muscles around my ankles.
No more spraining (or unwanted stumbling and falling over imaginary blocks) since I started in 2014
ETA: clarity

What the heck is that thing? It could be a whoopie cushion or a foot massager or a pan scrubber...
...I'm going with the assumption it's some type of balancing tool.1 -

Right? We need context @ladyreva78 I can't tell if this is 3 inches across or 3 feet.
Looks like something you'd sit on to encourage yourself to *not* sit:

My husband topped out just short of 6ft but apparently he's shrinking too, so it's all good!2 -
I especially like that she edited for clarity on that green thingy post.3 -
Joined a gym and got measured yesterday as part of their fitness analysis. My whole adult life, I've thought I was 5'4. They measured me at 5'2. I'm crushed!
My measurement at home puts me at 5'2 & 11/16 (because 16ths matter now!) I'm rounding up to 5'3 when I update my stats Nothing has actually changed except my own perception, I know.
My husband's been telling me for years I'm short, while I vehemently declared 5'4 is average height for a woman. Which it is. I'm just not.
I have been measured 5'4" and been the shortest person in my family since I was a teen. I have a step ladder I use daily in my kitchen. I would be so upset if someone measured me 2" shorter!
Rationally it would not change who I was to find out I was shorter but it would feel like a difference. It would feel like all those times growing up when people held things out of my reach and laughed.
Worried now that my measurements are wrong. Pretty sure I am at least 5'3" though as my dd has been measured at the doctor recently as 5'3 3/4" and I am not shorter than her.

hihi. I thought that torture apparatus was common...
Here a video (German, sorry) showing how it's used (and gives a good idea of size)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqrHOyDdI8Y
It also happens to be one of my most love-hated exercises ever. I do it religiously on a daily basis. My hate for it is paltry in comparison with the benefits I got out of it.4 -

Sorry @cmriverside I really thought those little balance pillow thingies were common knowledge. I live in Switzerland and don't always know what you guys over yonder the big pond might find normal or just plain strange
See my previous post for a short video showing how it's used. :-)4 -

Ah! Thanks, cool.
Well I haven't stepped foot in a gym in ten years, so maybe it is common...I just walk on trails outdoors and get the same workout.0 -

Yay, someone else gets it (on page 8 no less)! I keep reading posts from women saying 'I'm 5'4 and weigh xxx...' and I think, me too! Oh wait, no I'm not
I've really never really been subjected to more than good-natured teasing though3 -

Hehe. I would most certainly have killed myself had I tried to walk on a path. I was the butt of the joke pretty much all the time with how much I was falling and stumbling and hurting myself.
I've now graduated to walking trails and that little torture design definitely helped me.
@Pinuplove sorry for the thread-jacking2 -
@ladyreva78 8 pages in, no worries! I find the balance exercise thing interesting, too. Good to know there's actually something that might help me not trip over shadows.2

Oh my. I struggle to do that on flat ground. I'm sure I've seen those before. I'll take a closer look though.1
