It's been said before. The cake is a lie.17 -

I am beginning to think Whole Foods manufactures and sells calories. I like a lot of their products, I am shocked that the people that regularly shop there are so thin.

Maybe they just can't afford to buy much food there (although not judging by the make and model of cars in the parking lot!)3 -

Not so much soggy as kind of flattened but it does mostly maintain its shape.0 -

How in the world is this small a** cake 4000 calories!!??! It wasnt even dense!! It was one of those airy cakes. How!?!?!?
Easy really.
Look at the nutrition information for one slice:
41g fat x 9 calories/g = 369 calories/slice from fat. (Even says 370 on the label, so this must be rounded down a bit.)
68g carbs x 4 calories/g = 272 calories/slice from carbs.
5g protein x 4 calories/g = 20 calories/slice from protein
The total listed is 660 calories/slice so the numbers may be rounded up, but not much really.
Have all 8 and you have consumed 5280 calories
I won't get into who is and isn't stupid.24 -

you saw the cake and didn't think to check out the box to verify the 400 cals for a whole cake far too good to be true statement before you hoovered it up....?
riiiiiight.
There was no box.. she just said it was from whole foods
so, question to all the american pals - is wholefoods known as a low calorie health shop...?? cos all i saw in the dessert section on that website was calorie after yummy calorie of fatness....?
not really understanding how anyone can actually legit think a whole cake covered in frosting is only 400 cals?
Definitely not. Their bakery section is a delicious delicious place with lots of fat and carbs.

No, not in the least. It is, however, known as Whole Wallet.
Or is it “Hole wallet”?7 -

I want cake, too.
Me too. I hate that my GI system hates gluten. Because I *really* want good cake.1 -

I think if everyone asked their significant other, "Your birthday is coming up, would you rather have birthday cake or birthday pie?", pie would win a majority of the time.

Technically, Whole Foods does not call itself a health food store, but rather a natural food store. There is actually a difference. Also, I don't personally think it's that much more expensive to shop there unless you're buying specialty items, when compared to other US chains around here. I shop largely at Trader Joe's, which is definitely cheaper than other chains here.
I can say that nearly every slice of cake I've seen from Whole Foods is between 600 and 1000 calories. Natural does not mean low calorie.
Same here. It's the only place I shop, 90 percent of the time, because their prices on organic and gluten free, and minimally processed stuff, is so much better than what my local chain charges.1 -

Nope, not going there, even if it is Friday.
(However, the correct answer is birthday cheesecake. Any flavor except chocolate or coffee.)10 -
Fruit cake, that is, Deluxe Fruit Cake from Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, TX, is 100 calories per 1 ounce.
A 1 ounce slice of a fruit cake is about 3/16" wide. 3/4 of a 6" cake is ~14", and that's about 9000 calories.
I hear it's better if you soak it in rum.

Every year I ask for a birthday pie instead of cake, and last year I finally got one! Although they also still got a small cake because everyone else wanted cake.4 -
First your mother is not stupid, maybe misinformed. And was someone force feeding you? You should have looked up information before eating. But goes down as lesson learned, it happens to everyone. I sincerely hope you enjoyed the cake before finding out how wonderfully full of fat it was. I have had Chantilly cake before very tasty but full of carbs and calories.12

Am I the only one that wants some cake now?!? Big Y makes a similar Italian fruit cake that I'm now craving2

That's why you have to eat it all up, right away while it's freshly baked, so it doesn't get soggy.8 -
BTW, the correct answer is carrot cake. It's made with carrots so it's good for you.16

I find more troublesome calling YOUR mom "stupid" than you eating 3/4 of the cake.
Edited to change "our" to "your.
Just because someone is your (general "your") parent doesn't somehow make them above reproach.
Calling people "stupid" is kinda bad form in general IMO, even if it's not your mom (and even if it's true).
It's doubly bad form in context of blaming them for something you shouldn't do, didn't think through, and are mad about later.
Even in context, I don't have much enthusiasm for calling oneself a "naive piece of s**t", either. (Maybe it's just that I was raised in a mild-mannered, polite and unemotional subculture. ).24
