Only in the fact that I hate gyms
I exercise outside no matter what the weather is5 -
I do, especially since I'm not a fan of the cold! I'm not sure what your situation is (how far the gym is, if your car's heat can go full blast, etc) but it helps me to wake up 10-15 minutes early to thaw out. Then, I like to do some warm up exercises to get my heart going like jumping jacks, running in place, push-ups, even burpees (oh lawwwd lol). That helps me get my blood going and my face flushed. I bolt to my car, where I crank the heat up, and make it to the gym. I hope that helps2

Not really. It's just weather, and if you live in a place like I do, there's going to be a lot of it, for several months yet. Dress for it, and go on with your life. Or, stay home and do a video workout online or something.
Me, I'm about to head downstairs for a rowing machine workout, but tomorrow I'll go out in the predicted 28 degree F weather, because it'll be time for spin class. I expect both of those to be reasonably fun/enjoyable, so to be worth my time. I'll feel better for doing them.
Motivation is a pretty amorphous thing. Some people don't even think you need it.

My gym is in my basement. Doesn't TOTALLY cut out my mental griping, but it helps.5

Yes but mostly because I don't want to take the bus to the gym.2

Loathe the gym in the winter.

I mean I don't necessarily enjoy waking up at 5am to get to the boathouse at 5:30 and I don't like the idea of going out of the house in shorts and a t-shirt (with a jacket on) when it's cold outside. That said, doing that involves being out of a warm location for less than 5 minutes in total so it's really not a big deal.
So yeah, in short, convince yourself that you won't actually be cold for a terribly long time. Also you will warm up once you get there.3 -

Meeeee, too! I ran about 12 miles on Sunday morning before dawn - it was 16 degrees F before wind-chill. I can't imagine being cooped up in a gym for hours with the same scenery.2 -

Don't feel bad. A day pass at the ski area costs as much as a month at the gym.3 -
I say embrace the cold. But then again I love being outside no matter the temperature or weather.3

Workout at home? I borrow DVDs from the library, have some dumbbells and resistance bands, and have a nice collection of my own DVDs and videos to keep me busy for a long time.2

Hi, I understand. We leave in Oklahoma and I just have to make myself go, to make my goal to loose weight, and use the gym. Why I call it my winter challenge to challenge myself. So far working!
We just have to push ourself and think of the results☺️
Best wishes!0 -
Seriously, there are so many beautiful places in the world. And we choose to live where it is cold af.4

So go warm up your car. Get in it. Drive there. Rin in a get it done. First world problems....12

I've only had one week of experience in being in the cold in the last 5 years (yay living in the tropics), but when I was there, I found that even though it was hard to get up to go to the gym, it was actually a really nice way to warm up and I felt a lot better after I did it. So that can be used as motivation sometimes when it is hard.1

I split my workout up at home. I jogged in place while watching my shows. 10 minutes here, 20 minutes there. It goes by fast when watching something. Anything is better than nothing imo.1

I know I know, they are my excuses 😂 I got my butt to the gym 😭9

Well done!0 -
I don't go to a gym. I walk indoors and outdoors. I can do exercise videos too if the weather is bad.
I have perfected my layers for outdoor walking in the cold.
Exercise will help you warm up wherever you do it. Maybe you can prepare better or have an alternative plan for cold days.
Is your gym unheated? Do you not own clothing appropriate for the weather? Do you walk to your gym some distance? Do you have to go to that gym to exercise?1 -

+1 it does help not having to face the elements0 -
I would make excuses but not anymore.
Gym time has become part of my daily routine. It's non negotiable anymore.
I get up, put on gym clothes and go, still half asleep. Once I'm there I check what I'm supposed to do (I follow a program).
Good luck!4 -
It’s cold here for a long time (MN) you have to get out in it, or a lot of the year is missed. Yesterday, there was a beautiful hoar frost and all of the trees were gorgeous. Very calm, very little wind, magical Christmas card scene. My daily walk was beautiful!
Glad you got to the gym!5 -

When I lived in Minneapolis, I'd get up early to run around Lake Harriet and then Lake Calhoun with a friend. It didn't matter how cold it got--I dressed in layers. When I moved to Italy, my girlfriend said she just couldn't find anyone else that was constant. I miss the snow!1 -

That’s quite a run! Especially in the winter! I used to live less than a block from Lake Calhoun ( they renamed it, can’t remember the new name) on the west side. Walked & biked it many times. (Not a runner, daughter is though, it’s a favorite run for her. She ran your route many times this year training for the TC marathon) Lake Harriet rose garden is a favorite summertime destination.0 -
That's the EXACT reason why don't go to the gym! I work out at home. My Youtube trainers are awesome. SuperherofitnessTV, JessicaSmithTV, PopSugar Fitness, HasFit & if I really want a challenge, Millionaire Hoy. I also have some adjustable dumbbells. Of course, this may not work for someone who lifts heavy & needs a squat rack, etc. So there's no excuse for you not to work out! Get up off the couch and DO IT!!!
