@MadisonMolly2017, Yes these were my problems exactly.
1) They are really busy going to school/building a career/raising children/sad for empty nest/caregiving infirm parents/getting divorced/experiencing loss or financial hardship...and food becomes a self-care.
2) They think they have to starve.
3) Many REALLY don’t want to count calories.
4) American culture of fried foods, salty foods, cheese on everything, humongous portions, not to mention sweet drinks is ever present & tastes delicious to many.3 -
Fried and salty foods actually get me sick now when I over indulge in them especially before bed,4

Round 62: first round
Female-30-5ft6
OSW 240 (8.3.18 I'm English)
CSW 174
RGW 171
UGW 150
Day/Weight/Comment
12/14 - 174 - food has not been the best today due to having a broken oven, but I have tried to be mindful of portion sizes. No exercise today but will try and make up for it in the morning.
12/15 - 174.4 - food has been pretty good and went for a swim this morning, so hopefully that will counter the. 4 increase
12/16 - 173.7 - not much movement today but happy with food
12/17 - 172.5 - good food day today and moved by chasing my baby round the house. Water was by good today and that's always my downfall so happy with today!
12/18 - 171.1 - so close to my mini goal of 170 by 27th (baby weight). Water wasn't great today. Food could have been better/worse but under my calories and walked 10k+ steps.let's see what the scales say tomorrow!
12/19 - 171.1 - food was under calories but could have been better choices; the joys of a Christmas fridge. Had a swim tonight which was nice. Hoping to push the numbers to my first big goal of 170.
12/20 - 169.7 - finally hit my pre-pregnancy weight and my target for the challenge which feels great, just have to keep it on track. Water was pretty good today and under calories. Today is a good day!
12/21 - 168.8 - today was not a good food day. Went for afternoon tea with a friend then hubby wanted a McDonald's for tea. I tried to be good as I could be. And got over 17k steps. Prob have an increase over the next few days from sodium and calorie intake, but going to try to be good for a few days to finish off the round! Though I've got a sick 9 month old. Sat watch kids films at 1am to make sure all the sick is gone before we try sleep. Going to be tired tomorrow!!!
12/22

Happy Friday everyone!

.
@tiabirdie56
I have a few hunches:
1) They are really busy going to school/building a career/raising children/sad for empty nest/caregiving infirm parents/getting divorced/experiencing loss or financial hardship...and food becomes a self-care.
2) They keep hearing the pessimistic statistics of how many gain back the weight and/or see people they know gain it all back rapidly — compounded with medical reports of yo-yo dieting being worse that being overweight.
3) They think they have to starve.
4) many REALLY don’t want to count calories.
5) American culture of fried foods, salty foods, cheese on everything, humongous portions, not to mention sweet drinks is ever present & tastes delicious to many.
6) exercising hurts when beginning - they don’t realize that it will stop hurting & will become fun...
And probably 1,000 more reasons
Mostly, they want to look great - old age seems far away & they underestimate the health risks of their daily behavior (turn a blind eye).
I didn’t do all of these, but I did my fair share...
Jumping on this - when I weighed less I had other unhealthy/bad habits. Everyone struggles with something and has rough patches where those struggles become even greater. Just replace food with any other thing: drugs, alcohol, parenting, driving safely, violence, being on time, respecting boundaries, not browsing MFP when you're supposed to be working, etc, etc. It's all the same.6 -

12/14 -216.4 I think some of the water retention from working out this week is now gone.
12/15 -215.8 Weird night last night. Wind storm in the area and power went out at about 6:30pm and didn't get back on until 12:30am. Ended up going to bed early and in turn woke up extra early. Plan is to take dog out for 3 mile walk today during a break in the storm. Going out for lunch and going to the symphony later today. Goal is to get water in today.
12/16 -216.4 Water weight from lunch yesterday. I tried to make sure that I didn't eat anything that I shouldn't, but I wasn't going to worry too much if there was some ingredient in my meal that is on my do not eat list. Went to the gym today and did some weightlifting. Today I am relaxing, watching football, and making sure I work on getting my water in.
12/17 -216.9 Feeling heavy today. I ate a lot more calories than usual yesterday. I ate a whole avocado yesterday, something I never do, and even though I know avocados have a lot of calories, it wasn't until I was reviewing my diary yesterday evening did I realize the % of my daily calories that went to that avocado. It was a lot, but it tasted so good. Lesson learned, everything in moderation. This morning I was looking at my comments and noticed that over the weekend I was working on getting my water in, something that I attempt to work on every weekend and something that doesn't happen. This morning I realized that who cares if I don't get my water in over the weekend. I want to live an 80/20 life and not worry about things that for me right now aren't that important. So, while I don't get all the water I should be getting in during the weekend, I still get more than enough water during the week. Right now I'm focusing on exercising, consistent logging, eating at a slight deficit, and following my elimination diet. Whether I get enough water in on the weekends or not who cares!
12/18 -216.7 Plan was to take dog out for a 3 mile walk last night, but the wind combined with the rain kept me from doing much of a walk. Very proud that I went to the gym this morning even though I woke up at 2 in the morning and couldn't get back to sleep until 3. My husband has done a lot of Christmas baking, luckily I'm still on my elimination diet, so I haven't been tempted to eat his treats. Of course I'm snacking on other foods, but that's besides the point.
12/19 -216.4 Up and down and up and down; however, I have weighed in every day lower than my average weight last round. Yoga tonight
12/20 -216.7 Did my weightlifting this morning before work. For the first time in 3 weeks I ate something that contained cow's milk in it. Immediately after I ate it I felt so tired and had some heartburn, I will have to talk to my nutritionist about it on Saturday. It will be interesting to hear what she has to say.
12/21 -217.3 I have sinus pressure again this morning. I think it was the milk. Today was a day of relaxing.

@tiabirdie56 Sadly I can spend too much time at the sewing machine PHYSICALLY but never enough MENTALLY. Rods in my back, arthritis in probably everywhere, but as I’ve often said, it’s better than the option of being in a wheelchair. I need to set a timer so I stop and move around otherwise I would sew for hours on end.
@MollyMadison2017 Next time, I would not hesitate to say, “You don’t need to bring anything but if you feel you must, please don’t bring sweets. Perhaps a meat and cheese tray or fruit or veggie tray. I’ve worked hard to get where I am and prefer to not have the temptation.” I have not hesitated to tell people what I’m doing eating wise and when I go through the line at our potlucks the servers are great at pointing out the carb loaded foods and know I bring only LCHF/keto dishes. Amazing that I seldom have leftovers to bring home!
@taxgirl1 Are you lactose intolerant? Our daughter went through a battery of tests at 15-16 because she would vomit or have diarrhea at every meal. It turned out a simple breath test showed high output of hydrogen, I believe. The doctor had an “aha moment” and said she was lactose intolerant. That was over 30 years ago before all of the dairy milk alternatives and at the time she was consuming almost a gallon of milk a day by herself!
@quiltingjaine I'm guessing I am lactose intolerant. I will talk to the nutritionist tomorrow and figure out a plan to confirm.3 -

🍬12/14⛄142.6 a small fluctuation but only because TOM has made me bloat like crazy, i am actually surprised it isn't more. Drank 2 liters of water, exercised good, ate under Calories and got in over 18000 steps. Over all a very good day yesterday so I was expecting a loss but that is ok, only means a nice whoosh is in store for me.. hopefully🤞
❄12/15🎁 142.4 expected a little more of a loss. Had chocolate 😬 my mom brought tons of goodies from a Christmas party she went too and I couldn't help myself. 18000 steps and great workouts!! Felt like I was walking all day, my legs were so sore.
🍭12/16⛄ no weigh in. I went crazy yesterday. We had two birthday parties and although I started out doing really good, somewhere along the line my will power dropped and then I couldn't stop eating, not to mention I didn't exercise either because the house was packed of people and that would have felt awkward. Only 5000 steps and although I know I didn't walk too much yesterday it still was a surprise to see such a low number because I did some Christmas shopping yesterday. This fit bit has really been opening my eyes to what my day to day looks like for sure. I noticed that i was being accurate when it comes to my workouts but I also didn't realize that depending on what you eat, it lessens the burn calories, for example on Friday I had an 800 calorie burn but after eating the goodies my daily calorie burn dipped to 600...I'm still figure everything out. If anyone knows more about this, please feed me information lol. I was too intimidated to weigh today because of yesterday's craze day, which I know I shouldn't be and I should have weighed to keep myself accountable but I was too intimidated. I have to be good today though and for the rest of the week if I want to meet my goal by next Saturday. It's not impossible to loose 2-3 more pounds but I am really going to have to work for it since I noticed my losses have slowed down, considerably.
🕯12/17💈144.6 crazy weekend. I usually don't go off the rails two days in a row but I just couldn't keep it together. Bahhhh! It's ok though, i know this month is about doing what you can and letting go of the rest. I still have five days to attempt my goal, i will just have to be diligent. Got in over 10,000 steps yesterday and 1.2 liters Of water, exercise still wasn't great but I did manage a 45 min strength exercise late last night and a 30 min speed walk. This week will be full of holiday baking, i am planning to have pre cut fruits and veggies around so I don't overkill the "taste testing" lol Here we go guys, the harder days are upon us... get to your battle stations!!! 🤺🤼♂️🤼♂️🤺
🤶12/18🎅 142.6 so happy to see this number, although slightly confused. LNS got to me. I need to get rid of these baked goods that seem to make their way into my house, i have enough worry about the baked goods I will be preparing, i don't need others to also effect me..on the bright side though, they were delicious. Nothing is worse then eating something you shouldn't and not enjoying it. I got in my exercise yesterday, drank 1 liter of water, 10 933 steps but my eating was terrible. Right now, because of all the upcoming dinners, i don't have a good amount of fruits or vegetables, my fridge is currently packed with meat and ingredients for sides 😥😥😥 I don't think I have ever seen my fridge look so unhealthy.
👼12/19🎀 142.4 volleyball was great, although we lost all our games. Yikes!! Some of my team mates are kind of getting on my nerves, we signed up for fun..Although it is a league, it's a recreational league which means it isn't for advanced or intermediate players...just newbies but they still managed to take it so seriously. We have some good people on our team but they don't seem to realize it isn't the new people messing up that is resulting in our losses, it is the good players deciding to play the wkhole field and not staying in their own position that is messing us up..they are so concerned about the newbies they aren't where they should be. I am happy yesterday was the last game before the holidays because I don't know how long I would have gone without saying something. Anyway, this pesky weight is really making me work for it. Exercised good yesterday, drank 1 liter of water 9271 steps and under calories. I am hoping this drops soon 😥😥
⛄12/20🍬144.4 and up we go 😥😥 last night was the one month mass for my aunt and we had a ton of people over for an evening. Felt like I was on my feet all day, preparing and cooking, managed over 13000 steps but at the same time I also ended up eating a ton. Even though I controlled myself and only had a nibble here and there it still managed to overkill my calories. I'm sure I will be down tomorrow back to my 142 but I don't think I will manage to leave the 140s behind me for my birthday..that's ok though, i have made my peace. I have to remind myself that in November of last year I was around the same weight but come January I was 160 and continued rising...this year I have managed to loose and maintain..so I am happy
🎁12/21❄ 143.6 Yesterday was ..difficult to say the least. My hubby got off work early and decided to take me out for a birthday dinner, i got a lettuce wrapped burger which was good but also had already eaten a lot of my calories so still ended up a little over. Exercise was more difficult than usual...it was just one of those days where I did my workout but wasn't feeling up to it at all, for the whole time...i am proud I still got one in, regardless of how little I wanted to do and how little energy I had during. Managed over 9000 steps and 1.x amount of water. Today I made myself an oreo crust ice cream cake from scratch with a homemade fudge sauce all this is for my birthday tomorrow (or since I am posting so late it would be today 😛😛) but was really good with keeping my hands out of the cookie jar yay! NSV for sure, that never happens to me. I will be ok with what the scale says tomorrow, even if it isn't my goal and I will be ok with not reaching my goal for this Round. Tomrrow I am looking to give myself a mental rest and enjoy my birthday. I have worked hard and there will always be so many days afterwards to be more in control.

Round 62 - my second round
Round 61 11st 12lb (-1 lb)
Day/Weight/Comment
This is going to be a difficult week
12/14 - 11st 12lb - no loss, but no gain - so I'm ok. Had a choice of a lot of food yesterday evening but just had
one small cake and biscuit, instead of several sweet offerings, including mince pies. Kept within calories.
12/15 - 11st 12.2lb - disappointed because, as always, I weighed everything yesterday and I kept within my calorie allowance and due to walking I also had a good calorie deficit so could easily have had more.
12/16 - 11st 12.8lb - another increase. I weighed and measured everything yesterday and my calorie intake was 1161 calories. I've not yet got to the party days!!!!
12/17 - 11st 12lb Phew - back to starting weight of this round. I had to guess the calories of my intake yesterday. Looks like I didn't do too bad a job, although my macros were not the best
12/18 - 11st 12.2lb - should not have had that biscuit! Had 1253 calories, only ate some of my exercise calories.
Woke up last night with toothache and a bad cold, and I've been sneezing all day.
I made an appointment with the dentist for tomorrow, but I think I will have to cancel meeting my friend due to my cold. I cannot believe that this has happened when I have 4 events in a row from tomorrow - the way I feel I won't be able to go to any of them. I don't want to spoil anyone's Christmas. I haven't been able to eat all my calories today - I had one good meal and one snack, but cannot face anything else.
12/19 - 11st11.6lb Meeting friend at cafe as a pre birthday meet up. Cancelled meeting with friend as I am still sneezing. Also cancelled visit to dentist which I've temporarily rebooked for Friday, but able to cancel if still not well.
12/20 - 11st10.4 My birthday and a Christmas party? with my book group. Weight loss likely to be due to night sweats. However I woke up feeling much better and my temperature has gone from 100.2 to 97.4. (I'm always lower than the average 98.4 when I'm ok) Not sure if I'll go to the party tonight - it depends how I feel nearer the time.
12/21 - 11st 10lb - Went out last night as I was feeling much better. Even managed to lose weight by being careful with the buffet despite having banoffee cheesecake with cream! Just a few presents to wrap for tonight's family get together for Christmas and my birthday/meal out.
Thanks to everyone for my birthday wishes yesterday.
12/22 - 11st 11.4lb - I had 240 calories for brunch yesterday and then it was the Birthday/Christmas family meal out. I just had what I wanted which was macaroni cheese and chips (which I shared) and cheese cake to follow. I also had a 20cl bottle of prosecco. The result of this is a 1.4lb gain. Oh well, it's the eve/eve party today with friends (a day earlier than usual) but I want to be back to my 1200 calories. I now have 45 minutes to get ready to go out and wrap 6 silly presents, which is the tradition for this group of family/friends
12/23 - One day at home before going to my son's house for Christmas9 -

12/14 feeling hopeful for this round
12/15 today I make my meal plan & activity plan for the week & stick to it
12/16 nice way to start my day
12/17 better than I expected
12/18 goal: no snacks after 7:30 (epic fail)
12/19 wrong way ralph 😲
I’ll be honest- I’m not in 100% yet. I am getting in the habit of weighing & posting each morning. Come Jan 7th I’m in 100%. Until then I’m aware of my eating & activities and posting every day. Just keeping it real.
12/20 not cool. I know I’m not 100% in but my word! I’m not 100% out for Pete’s sake!!!! Ok - that is going to be the highest weight I post.
12/21 Schwew! That was a close one. Woke up early weighed 196.6, back to bed & re-weighed when I got up for the day. 196.0. So I stuck to my yesterday post of “that is going to be the highest weight I post” I’ll take it! So my new R62 goal is to get back to my R62SW
12/22 I’ll count that as a win & I am feeling good that I am continuing to weigh in & post 👍🏽

Round 62 - my 5th round
Female - 58 - 5'7"
OSW: 271.8 (Oct 9/18)
UGW: 165.0 or lower
End R58: 261.2 (-2.2)
End R59: 258.8 (-2.4)
End R60: 256.6 (-2.2)
End R61: 252.0 (-4.6)
My goal for this round is to keep my wits about me! I'd also like to get in to the 240s during this round.
12/13 - 252.0 - End R61 - starting weight for this round.
12/14 - 253.4 - Nothing to worry about. 3168 cals yesterday. I was super hungry all day and gave in to it. For the 3 days before yesterday, my calories averaged 1506/day and that seems to be my "1200". I can't do too many days in a row at that level. I can lose a lot of weight quickly but I get too hungry & tired. That's without even exercising. I should probably aim for at least 1600 - 1700 per day and perhaps that would help me avoid the high calorie days. ***ETA: I just changed my daily goal to 1700. Hopefully that'll help me find a balance.
12/15 - 254.4 - Oops! I seem to sabotage my efforts whenever I get close to a milestone. 4010 calories yesterday!
12/16 - 254.6 - I did okay yesterday (1721) and we went for a nice, long walk but it's going to take a few days to turn around from two very high calorie days. I changed my limit back to 1500 this morning. I have to find those wits!
12/17 - 254.6 - My backsliding all started way back on the 1st Saturday of December when I had a meal out and some cookies & cake afterwards. Then I made some fudge for John to take to work and that I got in to, along with the left over ingredients. It seems I've had a rough ride since.
12/18 - 254.4
12/19 - 254.0 - I'll be happy if I can finish this round at the same weight I started it. Whew!
12/20 - 253.8 - I need to buy some apples to snack on after dinner. Too many nuts & chocolate ... again.
12/21 - 253.0 - I think I'm going to make it!
12/22 - 253.0 - I hope I can eke out a 1 pound loss by tomorrow morning and call this round a draw.

I want this round to be the start of building consistency and habit in eating mindfully. Maybe throw in a little exercise. And if I can lose 1-2 pounds, that would be even better.
12/14 -147.5; I shouldn't be surprised by this because yesterday was full of salt and carbs. There's a part of me that keeps hoping that those delicious things won't have an impact, but they do. Today will be better.
12/15 -Traveling and no scale...I tried to be a little bit good, but had a too much fun at a holiday party.
12/16 -Traveling and no scale...I also had Taco Bell so I'm sure that wasn't the best idea.
12/17 -147.4; Down .1 pounds from my starting weight. Given that I didn't put as much effort as I should have, I'll take that as a positive. I'm back on my normal daily schedule now and back to intermittent fasting. I'm looking forward to some time off from work in the next few days so I can start easing myself back into a routine for working out and meal prep.
12/18 -147.7; I'm disappointed. I know it's a small gain, but I did really well yesterday. I was very deliberate about what I ate, had plenty of water, lots of veggies, etc. It's probably catch-up from a couple of days ago, but I really hate how it seems to take so much effort to see progress and so little to undo everything :-\ Today is a new day, though, and I'll try again.
12/19 -147.2; Feeling a little better today. It seems like I have a 2 day lag when it comes to weight, whether I've eaten well or poorly. I'm making an effort to be mindful again today and doing some meal prep because I'm off thru the new year. I'll start going to the gym as well...perhaps tonight, but definitely tomorrow morning.
12/20 -145.9; One of the best things about this exercise is that I'm learning more about how my body works. Gains seem to be pretty instantaneous (carbs, binging, sodium, etc) but losses seem to have a 2-3 day delay. It really reinforces the need for consistency, otherwise I'm going to keep seeing these swings. Today is a new day so I'm ready to try and make it a good one!
12/21 -146.7; Trying hard to not be disappointed. I did well yesterday, even worked out. Will try to do the same today.
12/22 -145.0; Feeling a bit more optimistic today. Going to play tennis this afternoon and shoot for another day of mindful eating :-)

OK, the self-delusion is over and I'm not going to kid myself into eating more cookies & candies. I've had more the past week than I've had in the past 4 years! OTOH, I am back to regular walking (though not up to my goal time yet - amazing how quickly we get out of shape) and I started walk/run intervals yesterday. So I'm adding exercise minutes to my accountability for this session. I do think some of this extra weight is water, but I don't like the trend, so I've had a stern talk with myself! I'm off to get blood drawn to recheck inflammation levels - I hope they're down more, but in any case I feel quite a bit better other than pain in my shoulders, esp. in the morning.
12/15 - 133.6 - 1568 - 60 min
Time lag from Wed & Thurs excesses, but I ate better yesterday and walked an hour. I also am thrilled that my lab tests show my inflammation is way down from what it was, though still slightly elevated, and I am more determined than ever not to take prednisone long term. So while I will continue to enjoy the season for the next 10 or so days, I'm veering back toward the anti-inflammation/elimination approach to eating that I was on for much of the summer and fall to try to get back in the normal zone. I'm also going to start running intervals again 3 days a week (I haven't for almost a year so I'm really out of shape!) and, if I can haul myself out of bed at 5 am, to swim laps several days a week. Happy weekend, all!
12/16 - 133.4 - 1571 - 30 min
I forgot the Y closes early on Saturdays, so last night I walked around a grocery store for half an hour. Better than nothing!
12/17 - 134 - 1663 - 0
Still within my holiday boundaries, but I don't like the trend. This week I'm baking for a gathering on Thursday and my BD is on Sat, so I'm planning to eat clean and low today through Wed. I've also noticed an uptick in my pain level, and suspect it's related to my much higher-than-normal added sugar intake. I've been on a baking kick - weird for me! - and have started collecting healthier recipes to try. The urge will probably subside after the holidays!
12/18 - 133.4 - 1612 - 30 min
I ate better yesterday - no sweets at all - and I got to the Y for walk/run intervals, although the track was so crowded with slow walkers and little kids that I finally gave up. Don't get me wrong - more power to everyone who gets out there to walk! But walking together and taking up both lanes is a bit much. Anyway, I'll go earlier today! Haven't been able to get myself up to swim at 5:30 when it's 19 degrees out, though - working on it. I hope everyone who celebrates a holiday this time of year is handling the stresses and the joys of the season well.
12/19 - 133.8 - 1653 - 47 min
Sodium...we went to Fazoli's yesterday for lunch. I also baked an orange-glazed cranberry-pecan loaf, and ate a piece (but no dinner). But I got myself to the gym and am working back up to my old walking levels. Heading back there in an hour or so. More baking today for an event tomorrow, and I'm going to a Contemplative Vespers this evening. I'm not particularly stressed by the holidays as it's just me, DH, and friends, but the service sounds lovely. I hope those of you who are swamped by the season also take time to find quiet times and peace.
12/20 - 134 - 1664 - --
I didn't get to the gym yesterday, but was on my feet a lot so I'll take that. I also didn't drink my usual gallons of water, so I think the uptick may be partially due to that. Since my goal for "the season" has been not to exceed 135, I'm not unhappy with where I am. I'm also very impressed by everyone here who's losing or holding steady! Yay!
12/21 - 134 - 1688 - 60 min
I'm still on a bit of a baking spree - unusual for me - and last night I made buttermilk cornbread from scratch. It was yummy (& high-cal) with veggie chili (low cal). I'm thinking of baking myself a cake tomorrow for my birthday - and by "for myself" does not mean I plan to eat the whole thing! I've given myself until Dec 26 to get this baking frenzy out of my system, and I plan to be back on a normal healthy track before New Year, and probably try the auto-immune paleo protocol soon after to see if I can kill the rest of this inflammation. I also have a new weight goal for 2019 of 125, but I don't mind if it takes all year to get there. I did get to the gym last night and walked the track for an hour. Have a wonderful holiday weekend, all!
12/22 - 134.5 - 1511 actual - 30 min
I've lost, at least temporarily, the little notebook in which I've been recording my weight, cals, & averages - it's a sign, I'm sure, but does it mean that it's time to be mindful but not obsessive, or that I'm losing more than fat? Anyway, it's my birthday, so going out for dinner with DH, and I also baked myself a birthday cake last night - lemon, from scratch. Still have to ice it, but it smells fabulous! Now to invite people over to eat most of it so I don't! Have a lovely weekend, all!

CW - 185.4
RGW - 185
UGW – 135
Food Goals:
Get 5 servings of fruits/veggies every day.
Stay under my calorie goal of 1,400.
Exercise Goals:
Walk at least an hour 3 days a week, 4 days if nothing better is available.
Weight training 1 day a week
12/14 - Traveling no scale. I drove the 4 hours to St. Louis with the boyfriend. Went out for a nice dinner; I think I did well calorie wise. A half salad and half a flat bread - no dessert but 1 vodka cranberry spritzer thingy. First alcohol I have had in over a year (nothing to do with weight I just don't enjoy it that much anymore) got back to the hotel room and crashed. It's amazing to me 30 years ago I could go thru a fifth of whisky in a night and still be partying, now I have one spritzer and I'm knocked out.
12/15 - 186.5 Drove home yesterday. Weighed high due to TOM. It will be gone in the next few days.
12/16 - 184.3 Goodbye extra weight. Walked four miles in the cold sunshine yesterday and will probably do the same thing today though it's slightly colder. Went out with girlfriends last night and was bad. Yep I had a DELICIOUS sandwich but stopped at half. I had set this rounds goal low because I'll be baking later in the week and I'm on vacation. We'll see what I can stick to this round. It's challenging.
12/17 - 184.9 Up a little, it will go back down. I had a wonderful 4.75 mile walk yesterday. I wanted to get 5 in but I was with a partner and she wasn't feeling that last quarter mile. It's all good because I had only expected 4 but it was just so nice that we kept going. Today is the first day of my vacation. I need to finish decorating the house and get in a walk. I sound obsessive about getting in the walks but these outside walks help my mental health more than you can imagine. I was worried I would slow down with the cold and dark but I'm doing ok so far in December. We'll see what January brings. It will start getting lighter earlier but it will be colder.
12/18 - 185 Up again. I'm on stay-cation this week. Yesterday I went to a Vietnamese place for lunch and brought leftovers home for dinner. Stayed under calories but I'm going to assume that weight is a reflection of the sodium. I walked 3 miles yesterday and plan on doing another 3 today. If it's in the 50's in December you HAVE to go outside it's an unwritten law. Tuesday is usually gym day but since it's so nice I think I'll do both I'm excited because I also have a doctors appointment this afternoon and there is a cool trail near his office. There may be pictures. Stay-cation woo!!!!!!!!!!
12/19 - 184.2 This feels better. All the excess weight from my Vietnamese sodium fest and TOM are gone. I got in a beautiful 2 mile walk yesterday before my doctors appointment. Finding new fun trails is my new favorite thing. I would almost go back to explore more of that today but I really don't have time for the drive and the walk. I did weights after the doctors appointment. I was pretty worn after both of that and did not get as much done around the house as I had planned.
12/20 - 182.2 I have no idea where this came from but I'm not going to complain. I got on the scales a couple of times, moved it thinking somehow it's not level but it still came up with the magical number that puts me over 30 pounds lost! Yesterday I walked 3.2 miles then came home to clean and decorate. Having my niece and her baby over today to finish decorating and do some Christmas baking. Send me "stay out of the dough" vibes please.
12/21 - 183.2 Down two pounds yesterday, up a pound today. I felt yesterday was an anomaly and today seems a bit more reasonable. I did ok with cooking yesterday. One haystack, one chocolate marshmallow candy, and 2 choc chip cookies. Not exactly "clean" but I didn't eat one cookie from every batch which I have done in the past . I still need to make 2 sugar cookies and gumdrop cookies.
12/22 - 183 I'm happy with that. I had no hope for this round with being on vacation and cooking a lot but I'm doing fine. We'll see what happens a week from now. Only two cookies yesterday. I still haven't made the others but I'm going to as soon as I'm done writing this. Though maybe breakfast first so I don't eat everything. I did get in three miles yesterday and plan on another 3 today if I can find the time between baking and shopping. Merry Christmas everyone!!! OH I got my Christmas present from my boyfriend yesterday - an Apple Watch! Now I can track my steps more accurately than before. He supports all my changes, in that I am very lucky.

@deepwoodslady Here is the link to the filling I made. I didn’t use their crust because I don’t care for coconut flour. I made an almond flour crust instead.

12/14 - Friday - 174.4 - Salty dinner last night. TOM approaching and I'm ravenous. Just went out and got a sausage egg and cheese mcmuffin against my better judgement - I was already planning on eating a frozen pizza for dinner so it puts me at maintenance. Maybe I'll have half the pizza and a salad instead of the whole thing tonight. But again, so starving today so we will see. I dont know if its the undereating catching up to me or TOM but either way - reminding myself that its ok to follow my hunger cues and its not always going to be perfect choices. Remember what over restricting brings? Yeah...binging, well this wasnt a binge just a genuine starving moment and I knew the tiny leftovers lunch I packed was not going to cut it. But I will drink lots of water today so I'm not totally sodium bloated for dress try ons tomorrow. Aiming to maintain last rounds loss since it was a big one and TOM usually spikes the weight.
12/15 - Saturday - 175.0
12/16 - Sunday - 175.4
12/17 - Monday - 175.0 - Hah, I make a commitment to kiss the 170's goodbye and then I have an off the rails weekend, womp womp. It'll probably catch up to me tomorrow - and TOM is due to arrive too so that was half the battle with cravings I gave into this weekend, pasta mostly. I did have a wonderful day with my mom Saturday and I found THE DRESS! But we also sampled many cupcakes and ate out afterward...But I was back on plan this morning and I'm moving on from all the crap I ate this weekend. I need to plan the next few days food wise. Lots of food in the house just need to prepare it! Managing stress as best I can this week too but as you all know that is much easier said than done!
12/18 - Tuesday - 175.8 - Ate lunch out yesterday, insatiable at lunch today, leftover pasta and chicken. Also craving lots of sweets but managing that one okay. Haven't logged my food for a few days so no more excuses today! Trying to be kind to myself. Making steak burrito bowls for dinner and extra for lunches tomorrow. Need to keep hitting the water hard today as I'm feeling dehydrated too. Just. keep. swimming.
12/19 - Wednesday - 175.2 - Tried to stop at the lab today to have some blood drawn but it was too busy so I just headed to work. But it was a fasting test so I'm just getting around to eating now. Got some sad news and I'm frustrated about some other work related things so just trying to keep my head up. I did make extra dinner for lunches today, and there was no chocolate left in the house for me to binge on, so it was a good evening eating wise. Dinner for tonight will either be shepherds pie or chicken teriyaki with asian salad. I want the salad - but I wont have lunches for Thursday. Actually, I could split up the last burrito bowl into two smaller servings and add a frozen burrito to both. Okay so salad it is!
12/20 - Thursday - 174.4 - Stuck to the plan and had salad last night. Lunch is pretty salty today since it includes canned chili but its what I got and I'm considering it to be better than the fast food I instinctively want because I'm solo at work today and when no one is there to "watch me" I'm totally guilty of wanting to slip back into old habits. I grabbed a wake up wrap for breakfast to satisfy the fast food craving for only 150 calories instead of something at lunch that would be closer to 1500! Shepherds pie is on the menu for dinner, but I'm going to make it as a half batch because I don't need leftovers for lunch tomorrow (company christmas party) and its a dish I tend to over eat given the chance.
12/21 - 173.6 - Yes to this number! TOM arrived today and I'm in a lot of pain. Today is company christmas party with Italian food - didnt make alternate plans for lunch so it is what it is. I'm going over my moms to avoid a party at my house tonight (its DH's brothers birthday party) and we already planned to indulge. So I really have no idea if I'll finish this round in maintenance, but some relaxing is taking precedent tonight, but I WILL log all my food instead of going completely blind like last week.
12/22 - Saturday - 174.0 - Work party went ok eating wise, I was in such pain though I left earlier than I wanted to. Good thing though cause we came home to a leaky skylight! DH got up on the roof and recaulked it and seems all good but that was not fun either. The birthday party is actually tonight, somehow got our lines crossed on that one so over to mom's tonight for me as im still not feeling up for it. Last night was some kind of miracle that I only ate 1 piece of pizza! Today might be another story but I will log my day and not go in blind, that helped yesterday.

12/20 221 has been a good week knowing I have to post daily gives me support and accountability. I didn’t get the yoga in but some last minute Christmas wrapping done, laundry and cleaning since going away for Christmas. The next week will be challenging lots of festivities. I know I am going to have to do some cardio to burn those extra calories.
12/21 221.6 I am up .6 could be some water weight. I am away for the next week so I am going to try and weigh in on others scales will see if that will workout if too far off will wait till get home. Next few days will be very tempting so we will stay strong and hope for the best.
12/22 DNW No scale at Mom’s. My goal is to maintain my loss through the holiday festivities

@MadisonMolly2017 @tiabirdie56 and @GrandmaJackie All I can say is “been there, done that” and then all of the pieces went together and the light bulb went on! Life gets hard and we cope as best we can. I wish the light bulb had gone on 30 or 40 years ago but it didn’t so it is what it is. I’m so grateful for this group and each of the participants. My advice to all of the younger ones - learn from others mistakes.4
