@MadisonMolly2017 What you typed is practically a primer for how to live life. Most want to lose weight, then go back to the way of eating that got them overweight in the first place!6
-
@lolakinks and @tlgale When I think about getting off track, I have a copy of a MFP blog post, printed out and displayed as the first page in my keto information/recipe binder, to give me motivation (or a kick in the butt). I'll provide a link, but, for me, the gist is "Feeling good comes later--it's a reward for biting the bullet now." Self-discipline in our eating habits is good exercise for practicing self-discipline in other important areas of our lives. For me, eating isn't the only impulse I have a problem keeping in check.

Sorry if this is duplicated, I can’t find it.
@tiabirdie56 Sadly I can spend too much time at the sewing machine PHYSICALLY but never enough MENTALLY. Rods in my back, arthritis in probably everywhere, but as I’ve often said, it’s better than the option of being in a wheelchair. I need to set a timer so I stop and move around otherwise I would sew for hours on end.
@MollyMadison2017 Next time, I would not hesitate to say, “You don’t need to bring anything but if you feel you must, please don’t bring sweets. Perhaps a meat and cheese tray or fruit or veggie tray. I’ve worked hard to get where I am and prefer to not have the temptation.” I have not hesitated to tell people what I’m doing eating wise and when I go through the line at our potlucks the servers are great at pointing out the carb loaded foods and know I bring only LCHF/keto dishes. Amazing that I seldom have leftovers to bring home!
@taxgirl1 Are you lactose intolerant? Our daughter went through a battery of tests at 15-16 because she would vomit or have diarrhea at every meal. It turned out a simple breath test showed high output of hydrogen, I believe. The doctor had an “aha moment” and said she was lactose intolerant. That was over 30 years ago before all of the dairy milk alternatives and at the time she was consuming almost a gallon of milk a day by herself!

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
12/13 132.0
////////////////////
12/14 131.5 Oops! My Garmin died and threw my whole day off! I ordered a new one but forgot to come back! I’ll try to catch up tomorrow.
12/15 131.5 I may have mentioned that a friend of ours passed on Monday. This has had a huge impact on Carl which in turn is affecting me. I feel very disorganized this week and am having trouble getting anything accomplished. Carl and I went to a movie (The Mule) and lunch (Cici’s pizza in a bowl) then we came home and he made cookies for Roy’s memorial later this morning.
12/16 131.0 Two texts from DD that DGD#4 is playing back to back softball games starting 10 minutes ago. Sheesh- how about a little notice! 😬
12/17 131.5 Helping DD at school today. Making cinnamon dough Christmas ornaments with her 5th graders.
12/18 131.5 Awake at 5:40 so I bit the bullet, got up and dressed and headed to the lab for bloodwork. I really wanted my coffee! I was there 28 minutes before they officially opened and first in line! On one occasion I arrived about 10 minutes before opening and was the 11th in line! An hour and a half later, I was still waiting. Today was so much better!
12/19 131.0 My new Garmin arrived! It took a bit of doing to get it to pair with my phone but I’m back in business! Now if my neck would quit acting up . . .
12/20 131.5. I spent too much time at the sewing machine yesterday and now I’m paying for it! I have to finish 2 ornaments and make a cake for tomorrow noon. No other plans today except a little shopping before what I assume will be a crazier shopping weekend than usual out there!
12/21 131.0 Finished the ornaments yesterday afternoon. This morning - Reading and having my BPC before making a cake for my Arts and Crafts potluck at noon. I stopped reading, got the cake in the oven and continued reading everyone’s posts. The cake is out, the berries slightly sweetened and all that remains is making the stabilized whipped cream! And I’m caught up on posts.8 -
Round 62
Please join us! Starting on 12/14 JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS, we will begin Round 62
Anyone can join us at anytime during the round.
Join us! If we stay mindful we can do this, you can do this.
Welcome back past members, welcome new members, let's keep each other accountable for another 10 days!
Here is what you do: Post your daily weight and add little comments along the way of how your day went. Post everyday to let us know how you're doing! Copy and paste the days in your response--tell us how much you lost and other non scale victories (NSV) you'd like to share.
FOR NEWBIES - I find it easiest to copy the dates to a document or note in my device and edit it each morning. Then copy and paste to the message board. MFP will return you to the spot on the board where you left off on your previous visit which is nice to know if you like to scan all of the posts.

12/14 146.5 ~ (Steps 23,296) ~ Today I was about able to get a fabulous swimming session in plus make smart food choices. Yesterday a 1/2 hour before my Body Works class was scheduled, it got canceled AGAIN. So aggravating when you plan to go and they can’t get a reliable instructor, BTW, I would loveeee to be at least in the low 140’s by the end of the year. Focus focus focus.
12/15 144.2 ~ (Steps 23,187) ~ Extremely successful day, I went to a different location, my gym has at least 30 different locations so it was kind of cool checking out a different one. Plus I finally finished Christmas decorating, . My goal too is to be as close to 140 as possible. If I could figure out NOT to snack at night NOT so much, it would of happen long time ago,
12/16 145.3 ~ (Steps 16,757) ~ I don’t understand . We had a marvelous lunch, trying a new restaurant but I was wayyyyy under in my calories for the day,
12/17 144.2 ~ (Steps 18,508) ~ Yesterday was a relaxing day, hubby made his favorite cookies (sugar cookies w/ kisses). I did ONLY have one. That’s a win in my book,
12/18 - 144.2 ~ (Steps 21,617)
12/19 - 145.1 ~ (Steps 18,025)
12/20 143.6 ~ (Steps 23,329) ~ Even though the morning was rough I was able to make healthy food choices. This next week will be extremely tough, focus and portion control is the key.
12/21 143.6 ~ (Steps 23,002) ~ Hit the pool again plus I had fun shopping, so it was a relaxing day.

ROUND 62 (Round 9 for me)
5’5” 66 y/o Texas Lady
SW 178 lb.
GW 135-140 lb.
Started Keto WOE on September 24th (2018). Still experiencing decreased arthritis hip and shoulder pain since the second week of Keto. Staying within calorie limits is easy enough, but not exceeding my carb limit is difficult. Per my KetoMojo meter, I’m in ketosis most of the time. Some of my NSVs: my wedding band fits, I wear smaller clothing, and my progress has encouraged my husband to try harder to end his cigarette habit.
Rounds 54 – 61 resulted in a cumulative loss of 24 lb.!
This post documents my last weight loss before I let a careless injury derail me: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/701476/joined-mfp-one-year-ago-today-frumpy-to-fit/p1
This is what I’m going for, second time around.
Day/Weight/Comment
12/14 151.6 Starting with a loss—I like that. Until now, I haven’t established a round goal, but, this time, my goal is to get below 150 and never exceed that number again. I changed my final goal weight to a range. In that range, I'll be able to wear my size 6 slacks/jeans again, without looking too skinny. In my younger days, prior to the early 1990's and rampant vanity sizing, a regular size 10 was equivalent to today's size 6. I read that Marilyn Monroe was a size 14, which would probably make her about a size 10 in today's sizing. Of course, I've noticed, in general, that the more expensive the clothing, the more generous the sizing. (My only expensive clothing is used. ) Whatever, my goal is getting closer, and I'm excited!
12/15 151.6 I was a little over on calories yesterday, so I’m happy not to see a gain. Today, I’ll try to get in a short walk. The knee is only a little sore now. I’ll find my knee sleeve before I go and keep the walk short. I must be patient and let it heal. Confession: I use my own success post from 2012, linked above, to encourage myself.
12/16 151.6 I think this number will go down tomorrow; we’ll see. Thor and I walked 3 miles yesterday, and it was a beautiful day. I wore my knee sleeve and iced my knee afterward. It feels almost normal today. Thor tried to pull me up a hill so he could chase a deer that ran across the road. I suppose I should be grateful for his assistance. I started the walk singing “Thank You, Lord, for saving my soul” and added a lot of made up verses thanking God for food and shelter, sunshine and rain, family and friends, and on and on. When I ran out of verses, I sang Christmas Carols. Having plenty of breath to sing is one upside of walking slow. 😊
12/17 151.4 Not much of a drop, but better than a gain. Thor and I walked 4 miles today, and I had very slight knee pain and no toe pain. I ordered custom orthotics from the orthopedist today and got a fresh foot wrap to keep me going until it’s ready for me. Today, three people told me to forget about running again, including my husband. The doctor put in his notes that I’m a trouble-maker. Perhaps I should consider their advice, but it would be a shame not to wear out my new running shoes! 🤔
12/18 150.8 I expected a lower number, until I tried my wedding band before getting on the scale. My fingers are swollen again. Today, I must spend most of my time in front of the computer completing tests I need to pass before tax season begins. I’d rather be outside enjoying the sunshine, but I’m thankful for extra income, especially since, last night, I signed up for a cruise in April to celebrate my husband’s birthday and the end of tax season. I see I have five more days to lose another pound and get below 150. I will press on!
12/19 150.4 My hope for seeing the 140’s by the end of the round is still alive. I have more computer work, but hope to be done by 3 pm so Thor and I can take a walk. I’m going to have to break down and do some cookie baking, too. I have to take snacks to the nursing home this weekend. I’m also going to try some keto-friendly cookies and pecan pie. I hope the pie is good, because I don’t want to waste pecans.
12/20 150.0 I’m on the edge of my round goal. Thor and I got in a walk yesterday. It was thundering when we left, and I turned around at 1.6 miles when I felt rain drops. They got bigger as we made our way home, but we didn’t get drenched. Thank you, Lord! Today is my Bunco group Christmas party, followed by more tax preparation exams. Have a blessed day, everyone!
12/21 150.0 (sigh) Stuck again, but there’s hope for tomorrow! I still have two days to meet my round goal (below 150). I will make myself go in the kitchen and bake some sweets (at least one low carb) to take to a Christmas party at the nursing home tomorrow. It’s a beautiful, sunny day, so Thor and I will be out for a walk this afternoon. Then, I must go into town, pick up three gifts for small children, and finish a tax certification exam. The exam won’t take long, and I’ll be finished with the pre-tax season work. That’s always a relief. Oh, and I can’t forget to go to the Christmas Party at our pizza parlor. If you want to see the cutest promo ever for a Texas pizza eatery (that has great pizza, sandwiches, and salads) here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X4ejGzRqyA

23nd Round for me: Female 65, height – 5’
Here we are again. Looked over all my rounds and realized that I’ve only lost around 3 lb. total. 😖 I’d lost about 4 lb. on MFP before joining this challenge. I feel like I’ve lost around 10 – which I have. I also gained 7. Have to be less complacent about it. New maxim: each round counts.Round 39 (1st for me) – SW 163, loss -.2Round 62 – 160.2 Goal this round: under 159, I think this is doable and I need to challenge myself more.

Round 61 – 160.8, -.6
I’m going to apply to go on a short course in April. That is 12-15 weeks away (about 10 rounds). So my more immediate goal is to lose 1 lb/round. The course is something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time – I don’t have to lose weight for it but it would be sweet if I did.
Ultimate Goal Weight – 128; Hoping to be under 140 by end of June.
Day/Weight/Comment
12/14 – 161.2 – Not sure why I’m up as yesterday was quite good. If I hang in there I think it won’t last. I haven’t gotten to the gym this week though because of this cold, so maybe it’s that and drinking a lot (to keep the coughing under control)
12/15 – 161.2 – Finished supper a little late but resisted the LNS and kept very close to calories.
12/16 – 161.6 – Another good day yesterday, was feeling much better so even did the vacuuming and mopped the floor. Eventually it must go down.
12/17 – 160.2 – Up to maintenance calories yesterday but payoff from the days before. Back to the gym this morning, yay!
12/18 – 160.2 – Decent day yesterday and was great to get back to the gym. A little sore afterwards but so much more energy today.
12/19 – 160.6 – Was hoping for a move down today but eventually it must come. Motivation to go to the gym.
12/20 – 160.6 – Shorter gym time yesterday, because I got up late, but still made it. Have been setting my alarm a little earlier each day to get back to a normal routine after being sick but still getting up 8:00-8:30. Then last night discovered an error in my knitting just as I was about to go to bed … I had told my husband I needed the car for knitting group this morning (I haven’t been in months but they are a great group) … and decided it would only take a few minutes to rip it out (took 1 hr.). A non-nighthawk would have gone to bed. Well, still going this morning and still going to stick to calories and eventually the habits must come around. “You make your habits and your habits make you.” – not an exact quote, read it recently and have been thinking about it, thinking how each decision shapes my habits; shapes me.
12/21 – 160 – Happy to see this number again. Had a great time at drop-in knitting. One of the regulars had brought her homemade chocolates so I did have one, but only one. Then picked up groceries and got some really good ice cream (excuse – it’s for Christmas) but only had ½ cup. Hopefully that will not derail all my hard work. Off to the gym today.

12/14 - 261.4 CSW
12/15 - 261.2 (-0.4)
12/16 - 260.4 (-0.8) SO close to breaking into the 250's! Been years since I have seen that.
12/17 - 261.4 (+1.0) Today was my no sleep Monday. Off work at 6AM from a 12 hour shift, 4 hour nap and back until 11PM. Tomorrow will be the day I bust into the 250's!
12/18 - 259.4 (-2.0) BOOM! Made it to the 250's and it feels so good! Super excited to spend the next few weeks trying to destroy these next 10 lbs! Motivated and Proud!
12/19 - 257.6 (-1.8) WHAT! Going to the gym and eating healthy is key to losing weight but do not forget how important it is to let your body rest and digest. I have not been to the gym for a couple of days instead ate right and rested. The numbers seem to agree with that statement.
12/20 – 257.6 (-0) Must have been that brownie last night. HAHA! Oh well tomorrow is another day!
12/21 – 257.4 (-0.2) Need to stay away from those brownies. Heading out of town today. We will see what happens when I weigh in on Sunday.

We have my DH work Christmas party, my work party, a cookie and candy making family party, and this one ends on a Sunday. Plus we have family coming in Christmas weekend and they are staying with us. The next couple of weeks are going to be rough! I was really hoping to hit the 30 pound mark by the end of the year. I'm close, but don't think it is realistic that I will lose another 2 or 3 pounds by then. I'm happy with what I have done though this year, so I will take it! Good luck everyone!
Day/Weight/Comment
12/14 - 151.1 back up a little from yesterday. I was under calories, but I did have a peach turnover at 9:00 and dinner at 8:30. Both my daughters 10 and 16 had choir performances at 2 different schools last night. So my husband and I had to juggle seeing both of them and getting dinner done for the other kids. I didn't want to eat out, but I ended up eating really late when we got home. Hopefully I can bring it back down, but I have my DH work Christmas party tonight and then candy and cookie baking with the fam tomorrow. So we will see what happens. All I know is this is a once a year thing, so I will try and make smart decisions, but I am going to enjoy it and have fun! Seeing that 149.xxx would be really nice this round though!
12/15 - 150.4 DH Christmas party was a success. We walked away with $150 playing bingo and I ate well. Saved most of my calories for dinner and ate what I wanted without worry. Stayed away from the desserts and even had a beer. Had a great time and stayed on my path. I also got back into a pair of black really tight pants size 6 that I had not worn in many years. So another win. Family cookie and candy baking today. Oldest son is home from school and is helping out. So always good to have him home. 1 event down, 4 to go!
12/16 - 153.0 uuughhh. Totally deserved! Stayed away from the cookies and candy but the chips and dip got me. Who gains 3 pounds over night like that. Oh well it will be off in a couple of days. My family was driving me crazy and all bickering, so it was kind of stressful instead of fun. You know when you get to many women together with all their kids it gets crazy. My sister in law and I aren’t on great terms anyways, so I ate salt and lots of it. Lol, water and relaxing today. We will see what today brings.
12/17 - 154.1 Lots of water to flush all the sodium out and get back on track today. My husband and I are playing hookie today and going to a movie since the kids are all in school. Back to work tomorrow and hopefully by Friday I’ll be back down.
12/18 - 154.1 Did a little better yesterday I guess. Not enough water and still not great food choices, but went to see a movie and had a great time just hanging out with my DH. Back at work today. So salad for lunch and tons of water. We have family stopping through town for dinner tonight, so hopefully we can agree on a half way decent dinner out.
12/19 - 154.1 I have no idea what is going on. I did go out to dinner last night, but it was not late and I had tons of water through out the day. Was at calorie max I am sure. I did have a couple of fried things off the appetizer platter, but nothing crazy. We will see what happens the rest of the week. It's funny because even though I know it's not possible I am starting to freak out every time I get on the scale thinking I'm going to all the sudden be back in the 160's or 170's. I knew this month was going to be hard. We just have way to much going on and so many different parties and events. All of the holiday shopping and present buying. Plus the kids are all super busy with end of the semester projects, finals, and plays. Then on top of everything work is stressful, I'm the accountant and I'm trying to get the books closed for the year. uuuggghhh.
12/20 - 152.8 Back down a little bit. Hopefully I will come down another pound or 2 before the weekend. I have absolutely nothing to do tonight for the first time in weeks. We rented a movie, going to make dinner at home, and do a little relaxing. Kids are officially out for winter break as of 3:00 today and my oldest has finished his first semester of college and will be home tomorrow.
12/21 - 152.8 I think I am figuring out maintenance at this point. Not really on purpose, but oh well. Today I have my office work party with Italian food. So we will see how that ends. Doing baked chicken for dinner and veggies. My DH's family will all be in tonight and they are staying with us through Christmas. So I will have 2 twin 4 year old girls running around the house. Hopefully we do most of our eating at home versus going out all of the time. 2 more days and I am still up, but not by a lot. Hopefully I see another drop on the scale before Christmas, but I don't see that happening. Lol, tis the season!

@tiabirdie56 Thanks. It ended up not going as I planned. My oldest had a flat driving back into town, so we had to deal with. I guess his spare was flat to. DH was not pleased, lol. We had to drive about 30 minutes out of town and change. Luckily it happened that close and not further out. He is home safe and sound at least and will be home for a couple of weeks.4

@FarmerCarla Well-said! Also thanks for the link.FarmerCarla wrote: »@lolakinks and @tlgale When I think about getting off track, I have a copy of a MFP blog post, printed out and displayed as the first page in my keto information/recipe binder, to give me motivation (or a kick in the butt).

@quiltingjaine so envious of the luxury of staying at home. Here I tell myself, only one-and-a-half day left...quiltingjaine wrote: »12/21 131.0 Finished the ornaments yesterday afternoon. This morning - Reading and having my BPC before making a cake for my Arts and Crafts potluck at noon. I stopped reading, got the cake in the oven and continued reading everyone’s posts. The cake is out, the berries slightly sweetened and all that remains is making the stabilized whipped cream! And I’m caught up on posts.

Hi @tiabirdie56 Happy Friday!! I Did Adrian Bryant's Bed Sheet Workout #3 this morning (standing up and w/out a sheet) but OMG what a great workout!!! Just what these old bat wings needed, lololo ~ He's had so many success stories, decided I'm just going to alternate his upper/lower body HIIT workouts for the next 30-60 days with a walking plan and see what we see ... sooo motivated right now 💪💪💪💪4

Hopping in on this round too!
female, 39, 5'5"
Original Start Weight: 167.5 (April 2018)
Ultimate Goal Weight: 135 (or thereabouts)
Current Weight: 150.6
Round goals:
-Maintain weight (my mom is in the hospital following surgery for a brain bleed so I foresee a bit of a relaxed focus on tracking calories on my part. She did well during the procedure, but will be in the hospital for 2-3 weeks.)
-Squeeze in 20 minutes of exercise at least 4 times (I've been very lax about this, so I need to ease back in)
-Take time to enjoy the holiday season...bonus points for non-food ways.
Day/Weight/Comment
12/14 - 150.0 (-.6 from yesterday, -.6 from round start)
12/15 - 150.0 (0.0 from yesterday, -.6 from round start. I'm bracing myself for the number likely on the scale tomorrow, after eating both lunch and supper out. Though I did get a 40 minute walk in, and am getting better about not making myself eat all that's served in a restaurant meal. )
12/16 - 151.0 (+1.0 from yesterday, +.4 from round start. Rather figured that was coming, likely from sodium from yesterday's food. I did get to visit my mom yesterday too. She's doing as well as could be expected, though she's a bit bummed that she'll likely be in hospital for the holidays. I reminded her that we could either bring it to her, or we can just do holidays with her when she's out. Planning on knocking out some more light exercise today, and getting serious about that whole "drink more water" thing.)
12/17 - 151.0 (0.0 from yesterday, +.4 from round start. Fingers crossed for a down swing tomorrow. No room to exercise but I was at least generally on my feet more than normal today.)
12/18 - 151.0 (0.0 from yesterday, +.4 from round start. Apparently this is the new it weight.)
12/19 - Forgot to weigh. Am determined to get some exercise in this afternoon/evening. Probably just a walk or trip on the elliptical (depends on how compliant my kidlets are as to whether I'll get to walk or have to elliptical after bedtime.)
12/20 - 152.0 (+1.0 from last weigh, +1.4 from round start. *sigh* Ah well, time to refocus. Plus today is the final day away from my food scale.)
12/21 - 151.2 (-0.8 from yesterday, +0.6 from round start. Ah, the right direction again. And might have been a bit better had I not had broken sleep/early wake thanks to my youngest. This is the first day of Christmas break and changes in routine throw him. He was up at 4am today. I'm dragging, but still going to aim for a short & easy walk.)

Lost 4.4lbs last round Would love another 2.5 or so this time.
Yesterday's weight: 172.2
Day/Weight/Comment
12/14: 171 I want to go to the gym pretty bad, but I'm a sicky.
12/15: 171.2 I let myself eat too many chips yesterday Best believe I ran my butt off today though.
12/16: 170.2 SO CLOSE TO THE 160s! Normal weight for my height starts at 168, so I'm pumped. Hopefully this means I'll hit that NY goal Can't lie, considered going to the gym BEFORE the weigh in, but I never do that so it feels like cheating.
12/17: 170.2 I've got some sorta bug that just won't go away. Happy no-gym Monday
12/18: 170.6 Well that's annoying.
12/19: 171.8 WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE
12/20: 172.8 Don't mind me patiently waiting for this number to go down.
12/21: 172.8 Hello yes I am annoyed.

@DebCountsAll, Yes what you said to @MadisonMolly2017! I will never understand why people just do not want to learn what specifically makes them gain weight, food and habits or know it and ignore it. AND, do not want to learn to eat properly!
@quiltingjaine, I understand. {{{hugs}}} So sorry that you have arthritis so bad. My mother had osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis that just ravaged and deformed her body.
@aFit50, That is great! Sadly, my knee and my shoulders are acting real crazy and I have been very hesitant to do any workouts. Today, I couldn't even stand long without pain. I'm going to buy a chair to use for workouts when my knee won't comply. I had really been looking forward to doing that bedsheet workout. Maybe Saturday night😀3 -

@DebCountsAll
So true - thank you!
I guess there were reasons for those prior habits... that’s why it’s about so much more than the weight.
BTW, I love your name! Tracking is key, so I can identify patterns

@tiabirdie56
I have a few hunches:
1) They are really busy going to school/building a career/raising children/sad for empty nest/caregiving infirm parents/getting divorced/experiencing loss or financial hardship...and food becomes a self-care.
2) They keep hearing the pessimistic statistics of how many gain back the weight and/or see people they know gain it all back rapidly — compounded with medical reports of yo-yo dieting being worse that being overweight.
3) They think they have to starve.
4) many REALLY don’t want to count calories.
5) American culture of fried foods, salty foods, cheese on everything, humongous portions, not to mention sweet drinks is ever present & tastes delicious to many.
6) exercising hurts when beginning - they don’t realize that it will stop hurting & will become fun...
And probably 1,000 more reasons
Mostly, they want to look great - old age seems far away & they underestimate the health risks of their daily behavior (turn a blind eye).
I didn’t do all of these, but I did my fair share...

@MadisonMolly2017, Yes I really do know some of the reasons. I live with 2 examples. It's not that I didn't make my own mistakes, but I learned from them and learned about myself. It's why I can be calm about my weight loss now. It will happen, just do what I know works for me. You have learned that also.
Many of the reasons you listed fall under 2 main reasons: anxiety and depression. I know all about that. My son and niece always tell me that everyone is not as strong as I am. I tell them it's not that I'm that strong, but I get my strength for all things from the Almighty Father. I would be nothing without him. HE guides me.5
