I think I’d like a secret movie club where we drink wine and watch funny movies. It would have to be secret because let’s just face it, some people have more of a sense of humor then others. Also some people are more attractive then others....
There would be a secret line dance.

Who's in it, the attractive or unattractive ones?1

If ten people to the left and right of me reflect my dedication to my goals (making more money), low networth individuals would be counter productive to my secret club ideals.
Gemma, although I'm not in your socio-economic bracket and not even close to it, I would agree with you that when it comes to close relationship and private conversation I do think that people in the same bracket are most compatible. I don't begrudge the affluent for wanting to stick with their own kind. I also prefer my own - hanging with the working class who are on the lower end of the wage scale. There's a camaraderie and an intrinsic understanding that is very appealing to me. They don't invite me to shin digs and trips I can't afford to take and I return the favor. We hang in front of the TV, chat at the kitchen table, go to a diner once in a while, take a drive or a walk by the ocean or in the woods or go to free/very reasonably priced events.
My American experience has garnered friendships with people of high networth, who built their own wealth from ground up. Skid row, the foster care system, single mom homes, shunning from a Mennonite community, a Gypsy, a retired IDF who was given the storeroom basement of his uncle's shop in NY to rent and live in, male model/stripper to support himself after his stepfather cast him out, reared by an older college student sister because their grandmother was really too weak to handle a young sprite of a child... Our HARD journeys in our mid to late teens were sources of discovery for us all, as we parled in our adult-friendships, ferreting that privilege in our 'now' lives was gained the hard knocks way. Charmed friendships which are instantaneous. We just click, and I believe that our fractured teen years of struggles without the surety of family and community, created our knack of being family, as a result of our commonalities - networth + self-nurturing + self-directed. The drive stemming from the fear of nothing and lack - our starting points were beneath working class Americans, in America. Our friendships are seemingly exclusionary, only that we're not. We're the results of what were the cast outs survival story. We only know toiling, in order to have. The hustle ' on the daily.'
Strangely, I had formed friendships first, then discovered later on exactly what my friends were worth. We all found each other doing very normal activities, nothing hoity toity. Lol. Even my online friends are outliers within their own industries too ... 💚 eg. We share a common friend in @bojack5, who just so happens to be the embodiment of an Omega-male, a 1% (minority) of the 1%ers in America, a quiet intellect, is absolutely gorgeous - fit all year round & aesthetically a 10 and has the empathy meter many would envy, with the ability to make a difference .
If the realms of a ' secret club' was in the offing, then I would assume that it offers me something to help me keep my priorities in focus... Bills need to be paid. I have financial goals ... I would much prefer to not struggle in order to attain them. I have dreams which I would like realised,So yeah, online I like talking to all walks of life but in real life I'm comfortable with people who are similar to me in these ways.
This secret cyber group though, mentioned in this thread, I'm pretty sure is a gossip/ridicule group although they may get close to each other and segue into talking about other things - I don't know.
I am fairly certain such groups exist @newmeadow, within the caverns of MFP. Reading their gossipy repartes would be entertaining that's for certain. Question is, who exactly are they allegedly ridiculing, if we are all just passing avatars? My query upon reading about these groups always is, how do the members know, whether the lead gossip has credible information? Why are they so roused by members who may not even know they exist or know them in person? Information passed are really just fabricated bards with purposeful doxxing, are they not? These group members likely need it to improve their days +/-

I’m starting the chivalry and proper etiquette club. The club, where we learn to nicely and politely tell the other, where to stick their spork when another shares, they dislike salad.

I don't like your club. I will fight you about it.
Good because another rule about our club is if its your first time, you have to fight.0 -

I have a question of etiquette. As I pass, do I give you the *kitten* or the crotch?0 -
@777Gemma888 I'm glad to read your reply. I sort of had the feeling you were flexible within the realm of making real life friendships. I'd love to think you and I would be friends if we lived/worked nearby each other as I find your generous spirit, good heart and eloquent way with words very appealing. Me and you could go to the library for free classical/flamenco guitar concerts and then to Starbucks for a Venti.
About the group(s), yes, I've seen the suspected members coming out of the woodwork to heckle Bojack about petty things that they know nothing of and they have done the same to others. GIFs, winks, nudge nudge, verbal smirks, back and forth with inside jokes about all the fools who talk openly on threads.
The thing I find ironic is that there is so much gossip, pettiness, baseless speculations and not-so-veiled accusation about who they think reports other posters to the moderators. You'd think the one place a halfway sane individual would want to escape from that ugliness would be online, since it proliferates everywhere else - the workplace, depicted in reality TV shows, on televised political commentary and within individual families.
But no, they bring it with them wherever they go and turn a freewheeling, potentially fun and entertaining avatar venue like this into a dystopian minefield full of exactly the details you describe in your post above. And Gemma, I don't think they're all broke. Some definitely are. I think some are rather well-to-do. The middle agey ones especially. And the youngsters in the group(s) seem to be very skilled in technology and work in healthcare and white collar day jobs. They have the foundation, and probably at least a rudimentary post secondary education, that they could make as much money as they want as the years progress.
Luckily, me and you, maybe because we are over 40 recognize that there is still fun to be had here despite it all and there are good eggs around too. I know I can be a jerk sometimes but I like it here and I really like some of the people here and I think that grownups can always roll with the punches. I sure know you can and you can throw a good punch too so good on ya!19 -

I do, mostly. I bought a 6 month box of contacts 2 years ago and still have some.
I sometimes walk around without my glasses on, my eyes are: left -2.75 and right -3, so definitely need correction, but not totally blind. Definitely needed to drive, and recognize people at a distance.

The secret to my secret club is that I'm the only human (I can tell you this, because besides me only cats are allowed).
We (I) talk about other people and how I adore or hate them. I ask about how the self indulgent purr-monsters day was (and seethe with jealousy).
They (the cats) say 'meow' (feed me bee-atch, I let you pet me, gimme food) and try to trip me when I'm walking, especially on stairs.
My club duties include, meal prep and waiting, bathroom cleaning and entertaining.
Cats club duties include...doing exactly what they want, when they want
Pretty much the extent of it.2 -

Thanks J, happy for your inclusion!
But now I feel needy for pouting my way into a club....I'm too much of a cat for that!
I'm gonna start my own "Fake Not 4 Eyes" club for 4 eyes people who take their glasses off for pics or wear contacts (the true deceivers)!
Visionary Shapeshifters, that I know...
@kace_kay
@iMago
@SabAteNine
@caco_ethes
@RunHardBeStrong
...the people I know who switch it up...glasses/not
People I know and have missed...you've tricked me! Fess up, and apply for initiation!
Anyone else who is a shapeshifter between glasses and pretend good vision (even if only for pics) is welcome
...(If they can figure out the secret password!)
(I'll give you a hint if you want to be part of the " Fake Not 4 Eyes Visionary Shapeshifters Club")
And for the wordy purists, I know I'm maybe using 'visionary' wrong, but I like it in this context, twofold!4 -

Hey, that's a pretty awesome club there!
I've not worn glasses until I reached -2.5. Didn't like them / couldn't get accustomed. That's one of the reasons I was always arriving first when meeting someone... it's weird to walk by every table in the place and squint at people to see if they're your friends or not. It's also funny to ask the 80 year old lady in the bus station what the bus number is... because she wears glasses and you don't.
Now I'm -2.75 (left, plus small astigmatism) / -3 (right) tooI'd be curious of the others!
