Goal: As a furloughed employee I didn't really how much of a challenge it would be for me to get my water in without the daily structure of work, so my goal for this round is to figure out a method that will work for me to get my water in while I am off work.

01/23--214.9 I am going to try a new plan to get my water in...I have a pitcher that I am going to fill with water and I'll place it on the table so that I can see the pitcher throughout the day. Hopefully, this will remind me to drink my water. Today is run day, hopefully the rain lets up soon. Yoga tonight.
01/24--214.9 The water pitcher idea from yesterday worked! Even though I increased my water intake yesterday, I also did a lot of mindless snacking yesterday, so I need to work on that today. Finished w2d2 of c25k yesterday; however, I woke up this morning with some pain around the knee, so I don't know if I will be going to the gym today. I think I will do some stretching/foam rolling and if the knee feels better I will go to the gym later this evening, if no change then I will just skip the gym today.
01/25--214.9 Third day in a row for this weight. Finished w2d3 today, so far so good.

01/27--214.2 Did over 6 miles of walking with my dog group yesterday, my legs were so sore this morning that I did not want to go to the gym, but I forced myself to go and while it wasn't pretty, I did my weightlifting. Relaxing for the rest of the day to get myself ready for a return to work tomorrow.
01/28--214.5 Back at work today. Didn't want to, but when I got home did W3D1, it felt great. Did some stretching and foam rolling when I got home. Tomorrow is weightlifting, sadly now that the furlough is over I will be up at 4:45 am in order to get to the gym before work. Ugh

I'm trying to slowly get back into diet mode. I'm puttting a lot of effort into physical activity, but the diet part is still a struggle.
1/26: 235.5. Probably the result of too much sodium yesterday. 2200 calories today. 90 minutes of walking.
1/27: Didn't weight today. 2150 calories. 30 minutes of lifting weights and 60 minutes of walking.

01/24 57.9 kg The rest of yesterday was good; stayed within my calorie goal, had loads of water and went to bed early. This morning's weight is a big drop from yesterday, so I doubt it will stick around, but it is definitely motivation to stay on track today No run this morning but will try get to gym this afternoon. We are having dinner at my mil's which always causes some anxiety because her food is incredible but often buttered/crumbed/sauced/etc. Will try and be mindful of what I dish up.
01/25 57.7 kg Yesterday was good. Went to gym as planned and had a great upper body weight lifting session, plus ended up not going to the mil so had a small dinner at home. I am surprised to see the 57's sticking around but I expect that to change over the weekend as I find it almost impossible to stay on track when the week is over
Also completed a 30 minute run this morning

01/28 59 kg This always happens on weekends and I am struggling so much to control it. While I didn't go completely overboard I ate a bunch of trigger foods for my IBS and the result is bloat and sadness. I was getting so excited about the 57's sticking around
I ended up doing meal prep for a bunch of meals this week so hoping to end this round on a good note, and will, as always, try be better over the weekend. Weakend it is for sure!
01/29 58.5 kg Going in the right direction again My tummy was still not fully recovered yesterday but regardless I did a 30 min run in the morning and strength training in the evening. 22/01: 165.6: Goals Aw, well! I was sitting in meetings all day and into the evening, so I'm very pleased with my end weight. My mean weight is back down to what it was at the beginning of December. My smart scale app informs me that I will reach my goal weight 2 weeks before my birthday in April. Now, that would be a great Birthday present.

25/01: 165.5: Goals ✅ Had a very good induction at the gym for my 10 week Boditrax course. I'm feeling the burn. My metabolic age is 7 years less than my chronological age! Everything else was either in the green range or just out of it so I am hoping to get them all into the green by the end of the course.
26/01: 165.3: Goals ✅ Lots of exercise, as we were going out for dinner with family. Stayed well under goal.
27/01: 165.4: Goals ✅ Gippy tummy from the rich food last night, even though I made good choices. I think it was the dessert which was a compote if dried fruit. Much too much sugar. Ate very simply today.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

So yesterday got slightly out of hand after some work frustrations. I asked a friend to come over for a glass of wine and we had a few glasses, snacks and stayed up waaaay too late. So i didn't have time for yoga this morning, but made time to pack health breakfast, lunch and snacks. I also packed my gym gear and will do at least 30mins of walking on the treadmill, there is no excuse not to do that - aim for what's achievable

I've been doing it since May and don't have much to show for'. And then I read your posts and encouragement and realised that it is hard and if I hadn't been here, I probably would have gained more than I have lost, exercised less and just been annoyed with myself. So thank you for reminding me that it is worth it, however slowly. Your journeys are inspiring!

Alright, this is my last weekend that i'll be logging for about 3 weeks and I feel like it might not happen and that's ok. After the lovely comments I received, I had a talk with myself and realised a few things: Last time I spent 3 months in southern Africa, I gained around 10 kilos - I was 15 years younger. This time, I didn't gain anything apart from a wealth of experiences, new confidence in myself as a person and professionally, more love for my husband (this is the longest we've ever been apart), more appreciation for regular yoga practice and treadmill running, and many new low-medium recipes cooked very quickly with causing as little washing up as possible. I also met and reconnected with many lovely people, both in person and online.
Now, to my progress, I really need to change my eating patterns. It's not even that I'm very unhealthy, but I "spend" 500-700cals on snacks&fruit every day instead of proper meals. I love grazing throughout the day and then also at night. Basically, I could just eat snacks and no proper meals exclusively. I have changed chocolate bars and cookies (with some exceptions) for fruit, nuts, popcorn over the last year or so, but it's still too much, the cals add up so quickly. I don't know how to change my mindset that those snacks are a reward or fuel for "hard" work (desk work), but I'll keep trying. I've changed my goal to only 0.25kg loss per week to match my sedentary lifestyle here and am on 1510cals/day, but I mostly eat 1700-1900 in the week and probably more most weekends. That may explain my lack of proper downward progress, I should just admit that I'm currently in maintenance and accept that. Any exercise I do just ensures that I don't have serious gains and keep my mind balanced.
Wow, sorry for the long post, so many revelations and realisations this morning.

I had a snack feast last night and it was great! Skipped the gym, evening plans changed, so I stayed home with some work, wine, sweets and a few episodes.
bethe238 thank you. My husband will be here with me for 3 weeks and we'll be out most evenings next week and then on holiday (mostly safari lodges) for 2 weeks. Logging only guesstimates makes no sense to me for such a long time, so I rather jump back on the waggon afterwards.

No surprise, ate all the things yesterday, plus little sleep, the whole week actually. Anyway, DH is here, yay!!!! Diet isn't my main focus for this week and until the end of the round. Most important is that I finish my work this Friday. I'll weigh, but will not worry about the number. Oooh and I will be able to set up my fitbit tonight - just after reading an article that calorie estimates for walking are wrong by up to 50%

01/23-216.2- yesterday finished at just under 1700cals, I'm happy with that.
01/24-217.4- not so good yesterday, was tempted to not log but I did. I will be having a low cal day today. I have to remind myself that one day does not take away my successes for the last few weeks, according to Fitbit I have still come away with a deficit from it anyway...so why do I feel so guilty and de-motivated?x
01/25- 215.8- 1350cals yesterday. I'm going to get out in the drizzle in a minute and walk the dog and then Iv got plenty of housework to crack on with. My 1 year old has been very fussy the last few days and nights due to not feeling very well with a nasty cold, I'm feeling a little worn down and tired. Today is going to be a good day, weigh in with the family tomorrow and it would be nice to lose something X

01/29- 215.0- ahh drats. Yesterday was a good day, ate a little above fasting cals but did 15500steps. I'm about to do a weekly shop, I just couldn't sleep last night so had time to plan the next weeks food, now I've just got to stick to the plan!x

@fraukazi How exciting! We lived in the Netherlands for almost 4 years, and loved it! We moved back to the UK in 2012 as we missed our families too much, but we look back fondly on our time living in Holland! 5

01/23 - 149.4lb (-0.5) Happy with that to start the round off with and continues my pattern of lose for a few days, then a small gain then back to losing again (???). Aiming to be properly on track this week and totally focused as away over the weekend so meals out, hotel breakfasts plus a 5 hour car journey each way - will be a challenge but one I need to learn to handle better.
01/24 - 149.7 (+0.3) No logic to this other than a carb heavy dinner of risotto last night and TOM imminent (or not! All a bit hit and miss these days ). Not disheartened as still down on round starting weight and a good food day planned for today
01/25 - 149.8 (+0.1) Guessing this is TOM approaching as feeling bloated today and no reason for it based on my diet Not going to put me off track though as feeling very focused and determined at the minute. Weekend away now - have a plan in my head to stay as much on track as possible - just need to act on it now. Have a great weekend everyone

01/23 238.4 eating and exercise were good this morning. Have my couch to 5k W2 D3 run tonight. It’s freezing in London!
01/24 237.6 Finished my run last night at did 3.3 km. It may be running and walking but it makes me feel so good! Ate really well and feel like I have so much more energy! It must actually be quite annoying!
01/25 237.4 didn’t walk as much yesterday so this is expected. Going out for an annual get together with friends today and going to enjoy it and not worry about weight. Life is about balance after all. Happy Friday everyone!
01/26 239.8 went for my run. Then had a fabulous meal and drinks with friends. Am I surprised by how much the scale has gone up? Slightly. Do I regret it? Not for one second. Best food I’ve had in ages and the company was superb. I’m sure a lot of it is water weight and tomorrow will probably reflect that.

01/28 238.6 and woosh the salt must be out of my body and getting back to where i was. Ate well yesterday but can’t say much for my exercise apart from the run in the morning. Back to work today. For some reason I find it so much easier when I have a routine.

01/29 – 186.6 Feeling so pleased this makes up for the miserable weather cant believe its snowing and i need to take my mum to hospital for a check up grrrrrr, best loss since starting my healthy lifestyle on the 3rd. Weekly weigh in day tomorrow hopefully still showing a great loss. Went to body pump last night also done 30 minutes on the treadmill.

@Winner_in_Life amazing hope the no smoking is going well, ex smoker also hubby of about 13+ years. I quite two weeks before I found out I was expecting my eldest, must have been fate, Hubby forgot to take some on holiday and didn't like the ones there so he thought no point starting again. The worse I found was trying to find something to do with your hands, and changing your rountine.
@aFit50 You are doing amazingly well! Very inspiring I hate saying this but your back fat handle jiggly bits are doing what mine are..meeting up in the middle (getting closer together)as I'm getting smaller..i'm hoping they will just melt together and walk off merrily into the sunset never to be seen again! As for the bras..I have those darn comfy!

New here, hoping a 10 day challenge will keep me on track, usually I give up because I have a bad day or two and don't want to log. Based in the UK.

GW: 234lbs (temp goal)
CW: 324lbs ish.
My goal is to be under 322 by the end of January as that's down to the round stone. Under would be nice but I'm not aiming lower.

01/23: 323.5lbs (-0.5) - my scale does 1/4lb increments. Weighed after breakfast instead of before, but I doubt it'll change much.
01/24: 321.75lbs (-1.75) - I suspect most of the drop is water, which I may need to regain. Still recovering from a bad stomach flu, so I'll just see how this settles.
01/25: 322.25lbs (+0.5) - I ate at my calorie goal yesterday, thought this would go up more. Think I'm whooshing a bit just being early on in the process, need to not get discouraged if I stall for a week or 2 due to it later on. Writing it down so I remember!
01/26: 321.5lbs (-0.75) - Quite happy with where I seem to roughly be sitting.
01/27: 320.25lbs (-1.25) - Still seem to be wooshing. Hard to not like it, I think when it tapers off will be the hard part. And I indulged in a lot of camembert and bread yesterday, I thought this may be quite bad today, even though I came in about 300 calories under target (total deficit of 800). The daily changes are very interesting.
01/28: 322.5lbs (+2.25) - Up a bit, I'm not worried, still puts me at about a 1.5lb loss since my last weigh in (I've left mine on the Monday default). Which is about right for fat loss. Woke up with my back very painful today, I have my suspicions it's not a coincidence. Hard part was getting proper breakfast instead of uhealthy snacks. I compromised with a couple of cookies. I know food won't actually fix the pain, and in the long run is causing it!
01/29: 324lbs (+1.5) - Bit annoying, I suspect getting up earlier has it up a bit (seems to keep going down until about midday), had gravy yesterday which is high in sodium, and most importantly my digestive system is still struggling to settle into a routine. I know though that I've stuck to my calorie goals and I will lose weight with time! There's a time this would've made me give up, now I'm sure keeping going is the only way to go.
