30 minutes cross training on the bike is done! A little higher level and slower but over 7 miles completed. Time for lasagna!
LOL you send it frozen in dry ice - once thawed they still taste amazing, it's the trick to baking, freezing things is actually your friend! Never actually done it but heard of it done. Fedex actually have info on their page haha and even have cold packages! 48hr cooling time for $46 USD. However the shipping rate is around $150usd lol thats an expensive piece of cake.though I'd argue my cakes are worth it

Well, against my better judgment I think I am taking today as a rest and will think on things for tomorrow. I am far enough out from my 50k that if I miss a week NOW it will not cost me much race day. If I push too hard and get really hurt, that could cost me the race completely.7 -

I actually have made GF cakes and put them out without telling anyone and they rant and rave about how good they are. My big weakness is in the decorating though. Your cakes LOOK killer. Light years beyond what I can do.6 -
Its amazing the small thing that lift your heart in a day. I was in a slump this morning, but a bit of banter, and support from you guys, and writing a e-mail to thank the lady who helped me purchase the mixer (wasn't just a straightforward transaction, rural living, sigh) is enough to lift you up. I know how getting an email like that makes me feel, so it feels even better to give that to someone else that really deserves it.

Love it! Yeah most people turn their nose up at GF cause they just think "dry". it doesn't have to be.1 -
@7lenny7 26+ one mile loops - That sounds better than the "Diamond Marathon" but I still prefer a no loop event - except for the start/finish chute.
@Avidkeo Definitely get the mixer and then Spoiler pictures of your cakes - ingredient list for those with baking skills.
@Elise4270 Thinking of you and your surgery. You always have such a positive supporting voice on MFP that you have lots of us here for you.
I ran - twice already in March.
7km on Sunday and 6.15km tonight, giving me 13.15 for the month.
Another 10km and I will pass my February distance.
Because I had such a bad/low km February my pace is way off and after Sunday's hill climb my legs felt like I had just completed a HM. Slow and steady to rebuild my pace/distance.

I just popped in to ask a diet/ running question. A friend of mine has recommended intermittent fasting to try to lose weight ... But I'm starting to work towards marathon training (32 weeks away yet!) So I'm tempted to try until I get nearer to the more intensive training.... So I'm wondering if anyone here has used IF while running? Was it help or a hinderance?
@Sparx_81 I think that how I eat/train is technically intermittent fasting. I usually don't eat breakfast (I do drink 2 cups of coffee each morning though) and instead eat brunch/lunch at 11 am or so, then I eat off and on until 8 or 9 at night. I prefer to eat two larger meals and two snacks/desserts, so this works well for me. I will eat breakfast before a long run or big workout (a Clif bar with my morning coffee, for example), but most days I just don't really feel that hungry in the morning so I wait to eat. I do this currently during this season's marathon/50k training. I am running 50-60 miles per week with ~3 days at 10+ miles, and I don't find it affects me much all. BUT! You have to make sure that the meals and snacks you ARE eating are sufficient both calorically and nutritionally. In my case, I am still eating 1800 cals MINIMUM daily and now more like 2200-2400 as I hit peak training mileage, and I am still steadily dropping down to my racing weight.
EDIT TO ADD: I will note this may not work for all and it may be something you have to work up to. I used to always eat before runs except for lower mileage morning runs that were a "roll out of bed and out the door" kind of thing. A few years ago, I'd never consider running 16 miles on an empty stomach, and now it's no big deal. But I've also been running for 11 years and doing marathons for almost 5. Just something to keep in mind!7 -

I ran after work today. It was 54F and pretty nice. I planned on running about 4-4.5 miles, but I miscalculated my route and ended up with 5.33. It was a nice run. But then I got home later than planned and instead of making manicotti we ended up going out to eat. I guess I'll have to do the manicotti tomorrow. I'm planning to run at lunchtime. It is supposed to be around 76F after work. Lunchtime is supposed to be 66F. I could run before work, but I just don't think I want to run in 13mph winds with a feels like temp of 35. Honestly I'll probably just decide in the morning.
@Avidkeo I think you've already decided on the mixer, but I agree it is the more sensible choice. Plus since the cakes are a side business you can always use your cake money to buy new shoes.

Ran 18km this morning (plus 800m to drop kids at school first). Was a lovely day for it - Autumn is starting to show so air was cooler. Still a sweat fest though. Mad panic before I left home as the girls had being playing with my two running hats the day prior and had mislaid them. In the frenzied and futile 15 minute search I not only failed to locate the hats but failed to eat all my breakfast or half my coffee or drink a glass of water. I can't run without a hat (hair/sunscreen/sweat/shade) so had to make do with an ugly old one from goodness knows where. Upshot of the disastrous start to the day was I consequently ran out of steam with three or four kilometres to go. Dehydrated as well. Got home without slowing too much but it was a real effort. Have headache now and aching from the waist down as a result. Whoops. Won't make those errors again.9

It was pouring all morning so my plan was to go to the gym and do a treadmill workout followed by some stationary bike. When the rain stopped I thought hmmm maybe I get outside instead. Every weather app showed no more rain until this evening so I decided to go for a run rather than the treadmill/cycle at the gym. Yep, you knew it...it started pouring about a mile out. I figured we were already wet so might as well keep going and get it done! Had the trail all to us until towards the end when one lone runner in t-shirt and shorts came running by 🤣
I realized when we got home and I tried to squat down to towel off Hobbes, just how sore my legs are from lunges and such last night... Hard to squat down, even harder to get back up! Yikes! Fortunately at class tonight Hobbes does all the work and I just have to stand and provide treats!Date........Miles.......Total

@Avidkeo I am so in awe of people with cake-decorating abilities like that! My aunt does some amazing stuff (she worked as a cook for the British royal family when I was very young) and I always wish some of that talent had come through the family tree to me, but nope. I tried to make my daughter a unicorn birthday cake a couple of years ago... let's just say if you've ever imagined a unicorn on crack in a rainstorm I created one!7 -

Another short run first thing in the morning. My pace seems back to normal, but I did a fast 1km toward the end just to make sure. Yup. One bad run does not a slow runner make.
There were two HMs in spring I was planning on doing, but ends up one is canceled and I won't be in town for the second. I'm now thinking about jumping straight into full marathon training after this month - Hal's Marathon 3 plan is 24 weeks long and will bring me right into the middle of marathon season. Hmmm.

LOL you hit the nail on the head. The only reason I decided to do this was to make enough money to pay for shoes hahaha.
Weirdly I just sold 2 items on FB, one had been listed for a month or so, so that completely justifies the extra spend. Lol
And running in the wind is awful. Rain over wind any day.7 -

Now that sounds like a cool cake! I've always liked decorating but really got into it the last couple of years, having kids brings it out lol. Im enjoying the challenge and learning so much but am definitely still a novice. Was just watching man about cake. Now that's some mad skills!2 -

Got up and got my usual lap in this morning, I'm finding that I'm speeding up without really trying! I even managed to complete both hills without a walk break! My loop is just short of 4km and it comprises of 1km down, then 2km up then about 600m down again (on the last decent I add in a lap or 2 of a soccer pitch that I pass)... They're not huge hills but enough to really cause a good bit of fatigue in the legs!
I came home and my husband got up and asked if I had taken a short cut as I was back early! And apparantly I don't look as tired... Might be time to add a bit to the lap!

So myself and a friend have decided to join a 1000km in 2019 challenge now! So I guess given there's 10 months left I'll have to average 100km a month for the rest of the year!
Have decided that I will start training towards a marathon in October! They release more spots in July so I'm thinking I'll just start working towards it and see where I'm at by the end of June. If all is going well I'll sign up!
So, long story short, I'm in for 100km
