I'm not sure what country you are in, but in the U.S., cysticercosis and tapeworms are very uncommon. Domestic livestock does not carry the parasite, so it's really not a worry here. It's much more common in Latin American countries.
Grilled pork chops and roasted pork loin are part of my regular diet and there's nothing risky or unhealthy about it.
I live in the US and it is quite common.
I mean, yeah, if your meat is under cooked. This is true for beef too?? Preparation is everything. Nobody is advocating for eating RAW pork.1 -

Poor pork gettin' the shaft for the misdeeds of the tapeworm. All the pork wanted was to be cooked properly, but noooooo, people be thinkin' they can treat pork like red meat and not like chicken. Poor pork just wants to be handled properly like any food product, as even plant products can contain harmful bacteria if not stored or prepared properly. Heck, eating the wrong part of rhubarb is poisonous, but people just loooove rhubarb. And that's inherent in the rhubarb. Pork just be sitting here being like "sometimes I've got tapeworm" and rhubarb leave's are sittin' here all like "this stuff is always in me, betta watch out".
STAND AGAINST RHUBARB.
Stop ruining posts I'd like to like with anti-rhubarb sentiment.3 -

IDGAF how well you have to cook the meat. Still gross AF knowing that that piece of meat or any food can give you tapeworms or make you sick. @nooshi713 I don’t blame you.
Agreed. It is not even tasty though. I value my health and won’t eat that crap.
Not... even... tasty????????? BACON... RIBS.... I... I... I....1 -

Maybe not *raw*, but certainly under-cooked. BTW, vegetables are as likely to cause food borne illness outbreaks as pork, and fish and dairy are more likely.4 -
This thread started as a lighthearted discussion/debate over a cookie and somehow managed to morph into an attack on pork, slamming it as poison and accusing it of causing tapeworms.6

No I dont think people are rattled, what makes you think that? - they are just refuting an inaccurate claim.
If you dont like pork, that's fine. and meat like pork and chicken are common causes of food poisoning (as are several other foods, eggs for example) if not handled/cooked correctly - so, sure, food safety is important.
I dont think anyone disputes that.
and of course some people have religious reasons for avoiding pork - that's fine too, everyone can follow their own beliefs.
I work with several Muslim doctors, if we are eating meals together they dont eat any containing pork products and one doctor is vegetarian - but they dont go telling rest of us inaccurate nonsense about pork being toxic.
Make your own choices - yes.
Add inaccurate scare mongering - no.10 -

I LOVE LOVE LOVE COOKIES! With rare exception. These are definitely an exception. And frosted peppernuts. They should be homemade, tiny, and not frosted!1

Why do I feel like people aren't responding here because they have not tried this horrible trick of a cookie?
I don't think I've ever seen that particular brand. But I'm suspicious of any product that thinks "soft" is a plus for a cookie. I imagine they're all cake-y and bend-y. No snap. No crunch. Blech.

I agree crisp is better. That’s why I could never really love cake mix cookies. But I LOVED those cookies made with a can of eagle brand milk, a big glob of peanut butter and 2 cups of bisquick! Lol Still remember the recipe after all these years!1

I absolutely hate, detest, loathe, despise American cheese. Like it truly tastes like plastic. Don't even get me started on nachos. Like what even is that gloppy, horrific melted thing even called? Because it is certainly not cheese.5

Nachos are overrated.
Usually made dry AF and only the first layer has anything on it.0 -
Pan-seared pork tenderloin is the food of the gods. <nods>7

There are very diverse things that are all called "nachos", from the salty bits of yellow fiberboard you get at the ballgame or theater with orange mystery goo and jalapeno slices on them, to well-crafted tortilla chips with many delicious actual-food toppings, from veggies to meats to cheese.
They may all be nachos, but they aren't all the same.7 -

Ah, that’s what they were talking about when they said nachos. I must be spoiled. I’m used to homemade, with corn tortillas sliced and freshly fried, extra sharp cheddar and other cheeses, olives, peppers, seasoned ground beef, sour cream, salsa, onions, fresh romaine and chopped tomatoes, avocado.
I’m hungry now.8 -

That's just life, though, right?
One minute it's all frosting and sprinkles, and the next minute you've got tapeworms.13 -

I tried to bring it back with a satirical attack on rhubarb, but unfortunately it backfired, lol.7 -

It is definitely a difficult art that many (including myself) attempt but don't always succeed. Even our glorious sensei The Onion falls victim to being taken seriously.1
