I'm looking for some motivation. I would like to hear from women around my age who have successfully gotten in better shape. I have lost 9 pounds since I started 2 months ago. I would like to lose 70 pounds or more in the next year and a half.

I lost 80+ pounds on my own and without a gym membership in my mid - late 30's.
I'm in my early 40's now and have kept all of the weight off and in my best shape of my life doing things I've never done before such as going on 10+ mile hikes without getting sore or tired.
Everyday I feel amazing with a lot of natural energy too. I start my day off with a good workout and I end my day with a nice brisk solo walk or a moderate walk with my family after dinner.
I've had an amazing experience and learned so much about myself and my body.

I have low thyroid and was 38 when I began my weight loss journey and lost 43 lbs. Been maintaining ever since, I’m gonna be 45 years old in October. I used to feel crummy and lethargic, now I run up and down mountains and hills anytime I feel like it. I’ve learned that age doesn’t matter, it’s never too late to get fit! Congrats on your progress, keep going strong! 🙂

I am 39 years old, I've lost 75 pounds. I have a healthy BMI now. I was obese. I've fallen off the wagon a few times, but it didn't get out of hand. I am heading into early menopause, so I gain weight easily. It's been a journey. But the longer you do it, the easier it gets. Finding tasty foods and snacks is key. Enjoying your new foods is important.

I haven't lost a ton of weight, but I've changed how it looks. Started at 41 yoa, currently 44.

I started on MFP on January 3, 2017, at age 44 and 182 pounds. I'm 5'2.5" I got to 142 by November, 2017. I took a long maintenance break until mid-2018, then lost another 9 pounds before the 2018 holidays. The photo is me in October 2016 at around 180 and at 133 in December, 2018. I'm maintaining at around 135. My only regret is not taking more before and progress photos, but I didn't think this would work!

I started at 40yrs old and 242lbs. Now at 42yrs I’m at 153lbs.
I took a six month maintenance break in the middle. When I rebooted it was the first time I added in real intentional exercise and fitness goals. Life changing!
I am in the best shape of my life. At 5’3” I’m working my way down to 121lbs. I really do want to say “I am literally half the person I used to be”. After that I plan to settle in at 130-135.
I do a steady 5lb a month loss with a planned maintenance month every fourth month. I am super low carb, I eat within my calorie limit, I strength train 3-4 days a week, yoga, Pilates and cardio mixed in.
I love it. I wish I had started this journey earlier in life but I’m glad I’m on it now.3 -
Started this current round of fitness this year in January at 185 age 38. I have lost about 40 lbs depending on the day and am within striking distance from my goal weight. More importantly I am running faster than I ever have. I am stronger. I love lifting. I have finally figured out that exercising daily is awesome for me and how to do it and avoid injury and over training. My goal is to hit some of my bucket list fitness goals by 40; sub 2 hr half marathon, olympic and half ironman distance triathlon, full pull ups, 50 pushups in 2 min. For me having that 2 year goal was crucial, because patience and process are not my strengths.

I lost 235 lb over about 2 1/2 years, starting when I was 39. I'd been morbidly obese and completely unfit for my entire life, and I was just sick. of. it.
I lost the first 3 stone or so just by cutting calories. At that point I realised that my workplace had free gym membership, and started some really basic weight training and static cycling. My 'squats' were just sitting down on a high block and standing up again, and I would be hot and sweaty after five minutes' slow walk on the treadmill! But when you start low, you get a lot of improvement
Fitness, for me, was a whole process of baby steps. Walking 200 yards at lunchtime. Then around the block. Then around a bigger block. Walking to work once or twice a week. Then almost every day. Turning up to a gym class that was advertised as suitable for beginners, and just about being able to do most of it. Keeping going until I could do all of it. Trying some other classes. A two mile hike. A five mile hike. A nine mile hike. An eighteen mile hike. Two days in a row...
Every improvement was incremental. It's only as I sit here now, wearing a size 10 dress (UK - equivalent to a US6 I think), having done a 15 mile hike at the weekend and a BodyPump class this morning, and remember the size 26 woman who got tendon pain walking across the car park, that my mind gets kind of blown.21 -
