Really? Never? I have mostly woo’d pseudoscience and judgemental people. I MAY have given a petty woo once or twice as well. I’m a little ashamed of those.
Unbelievable to conceive to not woo at all. I have woo'd Noah, just as he woo'd me back on the Avengers discussion, my woo count went from zero to 306 in one night.
No harm, no foul. We disagreed. Shrugs. Numbers aren't badges of honour.4 -

I would rather put my name on a disagreeing comment then anonymously tell someone they're a tool with a woo ......13 -

I don't get why this hasn't been addressed yet by The Powers That Be. it's ALWAYS causing confusion and then someone has to link to the explanation of what is woo.
I used to think it was woohoo too, especially because it comes between like and hug - so obviously, if it's between like and hug, it MUST mean WOOHOO, right?
I agree with the thumbs down thingy instead.

Dreams really do come true!1 -
A lot of people press the "Woo" in the beginning thinking it is a positive response. I know I did 😞 It wasn't long before I stumbled upon a post telling me differently. I have collected many myself.5

I did not know this before earlier today, and that's a shame because I think i wooed a couple of really good posts before that. Maybe mods should make a quick pin explaining each of th reacts, just to cover this?2

Simple thumbs down would be more clear. Many of us regular posters have serial woo'ers/stalkers/etc.; it's a bit disturbing having creepers regularly read over your posts & automatically woo something (even if it's just a stated opinion; seems more appropriate for skepticism/debating something as fact).
If you have something personal against me (age, username...**** keto, race, appearance, etc.) come @ me mystery bro/broette...quit hiding behind a computer/keyboard warrior. I promise I won't bite too hard11 -

As I was saying. . .

They took away our "awesome", but gave us a "hug" (I wasn't too sure about that 'creepy internet hug' at first, but am ok now without a better alternative)...they should take away the "woo" and replace it with a "disagree" or "dislike"...it would be more easy to interpret.
I, at first considered 'woo' a fun reaction...but popular opinion is that it isn't...so I don't use it anymore, I don't want to offend people...and people I dislike/disagree with I ignore...they are free to spew their opinions, as I am mine.
"woo" has become so passive aggressively negative, and mfp isn't supposed to be that way...for general anonymous reactions, anyways...in the text based forums...let it fly...share your opinions freely, and with a username. Don't be a *kitten*.6 -

I like posting and contributing here, but I find the woos a little disheartening because I'm not precisely sure what they mean ... Even if it's something fairly moderate like 'too good to be true', that's also a bit insulting because I'm very honest in my posts ...
I think it stands for Woo = Wu = Wu Tang = Awesome. And when I think of Wu Tang, Awesome I think of this: (this is the best way to answer your question from my perspective.)
Wu-Tang Clan 01. Bring da Ruckus

I'm fairly new to these forums, and I originally thought the woo was good, like maybe meant funny. I wasn't thinking it was negative, mainly because I couldn't see why an app and forum on weight loss support and health inspiration would even have a negative reaction (woo, dislike, thumbs down). None are needed!
I quickly realized it's a way over-used negative reaction, which is kind of disheartening.
To come on here, excited about weight loss or health and share success and get more woos than likes and inspirings put together, is really f***** up.
Especially since weight gain and depression go hand and hand for a lot of people including myself.

Its best not to take the woo thing personally or to see it as a slight or a negative. The woo button is valid. The reason people including me use it is because there are so many rubbish ideas out there about weight loss. The long term users here have educated themselves (some really extensively), they know what they're talking about so it just grates when wrong information is being posted. We are here to learn and educate ourselves on how to eat/exercise better and be the best version of ourselves that we can be in regards to fitness.1

These well researched people you speak of often jump into convos with multiple woos and lectures. Has anyone considered how aggressive and disheartening this is to new members? Also, they’ve shared incorrect info about topics like diabetes, so I doubt they’ve extensively researched it. But they freely give me and others woo’s for the researched & lived info shared. I agree, it grates when incorrect info is disseminated.
I’m getting to the point of paying no attention to the reactions. But it’s been a learning curve. I do feel like mostly these message boards are a negative space, not an encouraging friendly space.8 -
Again, disheartening. It's used as form to online bully, on a SUPPORT forum.
If someone's diet or information seems silly or wrong to you, it would be much more supportive and inspiring to comment in a positive way what works for you, instead of hitting a negative anonymous button.
After 20 years of eating whole foods and maintaining a healthy weight, I am now eating keto due to a very rare disease where sugars and starches cause me severe discomfort, pain, and bloat. And almost everytime I comment about keto, I get hit with the negativity.
My results so far are not made up lies. This is not a fad diet to me, it's a lifestyle I'm stuck with and trying to make the best of. And though I do truly feel great and have an increase in energy, I can't eat a piece of bread without being in extreme pain. The depression that comes with a disease that causes weight gain, bloat, and pain, and not being able to hardly move from pain is almost unbearable.
But I'm getting to the point after only a week or two of being on the forums, where I don't want to even try to connect or comment with others eating keto, because of the negativity on these forums!
When people feel bullied on a forum designed for support, there's an issue.

I agree about bullying and it shouldn't happen on any forum, thats why there are moderators to keep an eye on things and why posts get taken down at times. I should have made it clearer although I might choose the woo button at times I will comment rather than just leave it at woo. I always try and see the positive side to anyones posts. We all have a voice and we all can get a say, personally I feel its not hard to put things tactfully or be nice.
You've had success with your way of dieting and others have through their ways, there really is no right or wrong way. It comes down to preference or health reasons in general. I have a few thousand woos under my belt, and I don't care one bit about them, nor do I care about the quantity of likes or hugs etc. I have too many other worries in real life to let something like that get to me.4
