I had a great run this morning. It felt much cooler than last week. It was 67°F with a dew point of 62°. It should be nice the next two days as well. I got up pretty good this morning. I went to bed too late, but I didn't have any trouble getting up. I really do need to start getting more sleep, but it is ahrd for me to get to bed early. Yesterday I actually overslept, but since it wasn't a run day I was ok with it. Today's run was mostly uneventful, but it felt good. I smelled skunk a few times, but I never saw one. The only critters this morning were just the cats. There are lots of kittens around. I have really been enjoying my runs lately. I was kind of surprised that I didn't see people out walking this morning. Usually when the weather is nice I see people at the park at least. But I certainly enjoyed it and I am looking forward to tomorrow as well.

Morning all. Still suffering DOMS sigh. Unsure what I'm going to do this morning.
But it's the day we find out about the house! 11hrs to go...11 -
Only 2 miles today. It's freeing to know that I don't have a minimum I "need" to run. I may choose to push the rest day to Thursday if I'm feeling more like running tomorrow. The groin seems ok, but it just felt hard to run. Pacing was good and the heart rate wasn't too high - no idea why I just wasn't feeling this run. Meh.
No More Than 120 Miles

July 19 - 2 miles
July 20 - 3.5 miles
July 22 - 6 miles

Just spotted the @mobycarp news on my strava feed. Very sad. Fondly remember his posts as he had a different approach as an elite grandmaster from most of us casual runners.
Still running (120 miles last month, likely 100 this month) but I'm up about 25lb from where I need to be to get back to Boston/ Ironman Worlds (likely waiting until I turn 45 to ramp back up as I'll need the extra 10 minutes). If only there was an app to track food to help lose weight...

Good to see you here @Ohhim, sorry it’s Kevin’s passing that brings you in.
On a lighter note, I’ll see your 25 and raise you 10😛. We’re always rooting for you in those iron races, you little devil. (Cuz you were a devil in one race). I wanna do kona someday.2 -
@shanaber barefoot at home, and "anything goes" if I'm not. My everyday footwear is Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 or Xero shoes, which seem to be totally acceptable for lifting. Some guys in my gym train in flipflops. Never understood what that was about.
@noblsheep I would guess on the flip flops because they are flat. Many wear chucks because they are 100% flat. I'd assume that's the same reason for flip flops and being barefoot in the gym is either frowned upon or against the rules.

OK, well I only got 1.3 miles today for my treadmill warm-up before strength training. I intended to go out again tonight because it's a pretty nice day, but it didn't happen. After speedwork last night and a hard strength training session this morning I was just tired. So I did a little yoga/stretching and took the dog for a nice walk.
So who likes jalapenos? I seem to have grown a bumper crop in my little patio garden. I made a blueberry/strawberry/corn salsa over the weekend with the first one but I'm about to be overwhelmed so I better get on it. I'm not even that big of a jalapeno fan. I'm thinking of pickling some, and making poppers. Any great ideas?8 -
5.09 miles tonight. It was cooler and that was very nice. I was able to keep a good pace throughout.

So I have lost track of time and realised in the middle of the night last night that I should be tapering for my event this weekend and the half the following weekend. Oops. Nevermind.
Yesterday's run was interesting. It was a fab winter's day - super misty around the edges but with blue skies overhead, great for running but absolutely freezing. I guess it was all the moisture in the air because the forecast said it was 7 degrees which, while nippy, isn't that cold in the scheme of things. Anyway, my legs were cold (I was wearing shorts) and I couldn't run properly for the first 5km. Looking at my splits is hilarious - the first four are 6 minutes each or slower, then up to 5:45 as my feet thawed and then my pace popped up to sub-5:30.
Today was the same weather so I gave the run a miss and went for a massage instead.
I'm getting a bit nervous about this weekend's two-day marathon, apparently it's really hilly. I hope the weather behaves as I don't have a lot of warm running clothes and if they or my trail shoes get too wet or muddy I'll be a bit screwed. Ah well, it'll be an adventure!11 -

SO today is the first day of the Super Duper PastorVincent Anti-T-Rex plan! Through my local runners' club I hooked up with a "certified personal trainer" and she sent me a plan. Today was day one.
I have a couple of thoughts on it.
First, "reverse butterfly on a stability ball" is nowhere near as easy and dainty as "butterfly" would make you think.
Second, why does my coffee mug feel so much heavier now?13 -
speed demon got out of shape. we had beautiful weather (75f) with a nice breeze and a few sprinkles. we started at our normal pace but then she started to slow and slowed to the point of laying down. so i'll be taking her some 5ks and rebuild up from there. she was doing halves last summer.
overall it was a good run though. enjoyable. the light was pretty. 4.74 easy miles
speed demon still enjoyed herself

Hey everyone WE GOT THE HOUSE!
Congratulations!
I managed to get up early this morning and go for a run before work to avoid melting. Not quite the 4 or so miles I was hoping for as it was 24 degrees (C) at 6:30am and I managed to pick a new route which had 3 incline-y bits - good to know for future runs, not so great when it's that warm outside! Should cool down a bit/rain at the weekend so long run will have to wait until then. Will hit my goal of 40 miles though by the end of this week!
01 July - 1.6 miles (treadmill)
07 July - 4.1 miles (outside)
08 July - 1.4 miles (treadmill)

12 July - 3.2 miles (outside - and beat my 5K PB by 19 seconds)
14 July - 6.8 miles (outside - and beat my 10K PB by 1:42!)
15 July - 1.2 (treadmill on incline as we don't have many hills where I am in London!)
17 July - 4 miles (outside)
18 July - 1.7 miles (treadmill)
19 July - 1.8 miles (treadmill)
20 July - 4 miles (outside)
